Alright gang. Time for a little revenge in the Clam. Don't really need to write anything up. It's a revenge game. Still can't believe the Boogs lost in Coleman but the embarrassing fashion in which they did still burns. Normally, a team coming off such an emotional comeback victory might be headed for a clunker in the next game. But the Boogs definitely will be motivated and amped. Revenge and a Rivalry is a dangerous cocktail to mix in the Clam. And the Boogs are about to serve one up to that high school coach Nate Oats. We need Okoro, J'Von and Doughty to shut Kira Lewis down from the first whistle. If we can contain him we should get our payback.

I would really like to see us beat them as badly as they beat us to hopefully straighten out some of the KenPom algebra.

Of note and forgot to add to the OP, but Herb Jones, who had a 14 and 12 double double in the first game) is out for the season. So that's one less weapon esepcially on D that they'll have. Should honestly make a big difference for us

Can't let them get to the tin like they did last time around. They did the same to UGA this weekend. They aren't really killing the 3 ball the way they were earlier in the season. We need to be smart about who we defend to drive and who we want to keep out of the paint. If Kira goes 7-12 from 3 pt range so be it but we cannot let him drive the ball on us over and over again. Probably need to force both fatty Reese and terrible hair Petty to be drivers though. Neither are great finishers in traffic.

Biggest thing to me though is on the other end. Losing Herb means their best defender is off the court. They aren't particularly big either. Gonna need to punish them both by getting great looks and by murdering them on the offensive glass. We were garbage vs them on that end last time around. 31% shooting and 57% from the FT line. They also shot more FT's and we turned it over 21 times. The only positive was we beat them on the offensive glass and that should be even bigger without Jones....assuming we get Purifoy back and he hasn't infected the team with the hiv.

I hope we don't force the issue with Wiley yet again. Play is so much better when we just let him wipe the other team up on the glass. He could have 10+ offensive boards himself this game if he can stay on the court.

And Reese having the ability to shoot and making a couple of early shots made things worse. We have to have a better plan to contain those ball screens. Just my thoughts, but since gus has to bust in on anything pro Boogs, BRUCE (most universally known with Sir Charles) should be the one to go out & take the Foy ODK Governor's trophy. At least the Boog fans won't just watch the presentation at half & leave like they used to.

I think we have to make Kira take that off the bounce 3 and if he's gonna hit it we just have to execute enough on offense to overcome it. I felt like we tried to shut down everything last time and we in turn shut down nothing. They got good looks from 3 and all the drives they wanted and it was bad. They didn't even shoot the 3 all that well but it didn't matter because it was layup city

I still don't think they are good defensively. We need to exploit that. Especially without Herb. It's about time we put on a good offensive show anyway. 40 Minutes of Boogin

That will help some. But one of the issues we ran into was we couldn’t leave Reese on the ball screens. So we ended up switching and Wiley and Mac got stuck trying to guard Kira. Or we’d fight through the screen with the big hedging Kira, but we weren’t able to create enough disruption for the guard to get back in decent position to stop him. It was a massive cluster****. With Okoro, we should be able to stem some of the ball screen actions, but I like @jeramye ‘s idea of sagging off and letting Kira take those 3s off the bounce. Deny his outlets, cut off his driving lanes, make him be a one-man show and hope we can cause enough issues that his shooting isn’t clean all night.

Without Herb, Reese has played more 4 with Galen Smith or Javien Davis at the 5. So, IMO that’s a big help to us because they can’t pull Wiley or Mac away from the basket with a guy who can shoot from 3. That will allow us to defend the ball screens differently. And if they do use Reese in the ball screens at the 4, we will have a better chance of switching those screens with a defender who can stay with Kira better than Wiley or Mac.

Line up to -7.5. First total I saw was 157.5 and now it’s 159.5. AU team total gonna end up around 83-84. If we don’t have the 8-12 minute complete lull, that number is very attainable I think.
