Boogs v LSU

What do y’all think it will take to get there? Maybe 9-2 over these last 11 and a deep run in the SECT? Probably have to at least split with UK and UF. Beating UF in Gainesville would probably give us a huge boost..

No idea since some of that depends so much on what other squads do. Just keep winning and it’ll work itself out

Pretty much that, but I think we'd to beat UK at home and Florida on the road, as those are probably our two most high profile games left. And I would think the losses would have to be on the road where a loss is more expected and forgivable.

In this scenario, we'd be a 5 loss team. Is it usual for 5 loss teams to get a #1 seed? I honestly don't know but that would just seem odd, imnsho.

Not all that pertinent but LSU just scored another 5 star b-ball commit for the ‘18 class. Looks like they’re gonna have a hell of a freshman class next season

It happens pretty often depending on what everybody else does. 5 loss blue bloods are almost guaranteed a 1 seed most years. Honestly, we’d probably have to win the SECT to get a 1 seed with 5 losses. And maybe even that wouldn’t be enough.

Blue bloods usually play a lot of games versus other teams trying to get top seeds in the tourney though. Our schedule isn't good enough to get a 1-seed with 5 losses IMO. That's why playing things like that tourney in Hawaii to start next season are a big deal...

If we win the SEC tournament and SEC regular season, we'll at least get some consideration though.

LSU has been one of the better road teams in the SEC this year and one of the worst at home. They have two road wins (at aTm and at Ark). They are one of the best raw shooting team in the SEC, and their effective shooting is even more impressive. And they have the best eFG% of any team in the SEC on the road at 53.1%. Inside the arc, they're a very good shooting team, and they're still capable of hitting the 3, which could be problematic since we still don't defend that particularly well.

They have some pretty good matchup advantages. Tremont Waters has been an electric PG all season. Has ridiculous range and distributes the ball well. Duop Reath is a big matchup problem. He's great in the post and can shoot the 3 pretty well. He's a 52% 3-point shooter. He doesn't shoot many, but we can't let him fire away all night. Aaron Epps is also a big for them that can shoot the 3 well. They play basically a 9-man rotation, they don't turn the ball over much, and they play pretty solid, aggressive m2m defense. Their HC is a fiery guy, and they seem to mirror his demeanor on the defensive end.

They're a fairly long team, but they're hot garbage rebounding. Dead last in the conference in every rebounding stat. That should be where we have an edge. And even with their height in the post, they don't defend the rim particularly well, which could help Harper and Mitchell getting to the rim and Murray working in the post.

Overall, I think we're the deeper, more talented team, and I think we will seal this game late with FTs.

Yeah the SEC is kind of weird this year too. Not really any true top flight teams besides maybe us and UF, but a ton of really good squads with tourney hopes.

The aTm collapse along with Arkansas not being quite what folks expected and Vandy being absolute garbage has really hurt our SOS. Also UK isn’t a world beater like a lot of years too.

Yeah they have a loaded class. So does Vandy. So does Miss St. So does UK. Florida has a 5 star.

This lig is good y'all and will be good for a long time. And just think: our boogs are the best team in the lig this year and will be the best team in the lig again next year. Somebody pinch my boog'n ass!

All true Dufner, but our BOOGS are the only team in the SEC to not lose at home this year.

The Clam is best home court advantage in the SEC

Also, Saturday is Auburn's AUTLIVE game.

From the website:

"AUTLIVE raises the awareness of cancer prevention and detection while t-shirt sales and donations raise money to benefit cancer patients and their local hospital. So, we need each person in attendance at the Auburn-LSU game on Jan. 27 to buy an AUTLIVE t-shirt benefiting the cause and wear it at the game.

T-shirts are $20 each and proceeds benefit cancer patients and treatment centers at these locations: Coosa Valley, East Alabama Medical Center, Russell Medical Center, Children's of Alabama, Montgomery Cancer Center, Camp Smile-A-Mile and the L5 Foundation in Knoxville, Tenn.

Pearl and his coaching staff initiated the OUTLIVE program in 2009 at Tennessee in recognition of former Vol Chris Lofton, who beat testicular cancer through early diagnosis and local treatment. He went on to play the entire 2007-08 season while battling the disease."

As someone who has had a family member diagnosed (and thankfully beat!) cancer, this movement by Pearl makes me love him exponentially more.

They also lost their last road game, which was against Vandy. But I agree, they seem to play better on the road. Especially in SEC play

1-3 at home
2-1 on the road
