Caught a slight rustle watching Deshaun last night

So happy he is a Texan. Not going to hype him like the great Studham though, but I think he could be MVP like next year.
That's the rationale I wish the idiots on the boog board would use... at least let the kid play for one damn season before he's the MVP/Heisman winner. Yore logic could sure be used on over there.

Deshaun's TD run made me smile and shed a tear. Amazing what can happen with an elite athlete at QB. Even in the league.

Some boogs, like myself who was one at one at time, hyped Studham up to just to help Gus look worse when the season was a flop

So true my friend. Logic is dead in droolville. Not wasting my time in a place where only rainbows and unicorns are accepted. I argued the O&B blindness of our bourde for years with all my buddies from other schools. Hate to say it but looking back I was wrong. A coaching buddy once told me that Jennifery Leigh smoked all his braincells away and could not get legit intel on recruits if he walked around giving out free hand-jobs to the kids.

Anyway, I am over it and happy to be here amongst fambly who can accept differences of opinions, and actually enjoy the game of football for what it is. I love watching other teams grow the game (except bammer). Whats so hard to like about that?

We'd have screwed him up. Kid has some of that natural "it" factor Jeremy Johnson never did, but we still would have ruined him or at the least made him less great than he is now.

He's a leader who made on field adjustments at Clemson, something we don't want our guys doing typically under Gus. He also demonstrated last night something that he was pushed to do at Clemson because they've done it with all their QB's since Dabo took over.....get the ball to your best guys and let them make plays. We out here trying to fit square pegs in round holes and double play fake statue of liberty plays, Watson was learning to find his best, most freakish WR's and get the ball to them. Last night he targeted Hopkins about eleventy billion times. That's smart. A Gus trained QB would be looking for the 3rd best WR on a deep route and trying to figure out why the coach wasn't calling that play anymore in the NFL.

You make great points. He still came directly from the CAM school of electrifying DT studs. Watching him take one 50 yds to the house against an NFL defense was impressive. He certainly made the right decision going to Clemson.

Funny that you mention that. My football buddy told me last year (don't barf/Kill the messenger) that if Beep Bop would just let SW play/do his thing that he is not a bad QB. He said the guy mentally knows how to play the game, but Beep Bop handcuffs any QB not named Cam/Nick. Because Beep Boo knows way more about what play we need to run than the actual QB that is in the middle of the battle. How can you not let the QB make checks/adjustments if he sees they are needed when he comes to the line of scrimmage? Ok maybe JJ could not do that, but I guarantee JS and SW can. Just another case of Beep Bop always knows best, I guess.

Not shocked. He's been fairly open previously about wanting to do the checks from the sideline and not have the QB responsible for it. I wouldn't send a QB to him if I were a parent/coach. The idea that you want your QB's to on the sidelines and not use their brains to beat the opponent kills me. It's crushing their development.

If your QB isn't capable for a little while that's fine, but it's your job to teach him to be able to read defenses and get out of bad plays/make adjustments. Damn this isn't rocket science, it's football. Most of these kids have a good idea of what's going on already.

I long for the day when everyone realizes he's not that smart. Been a myth for quite for a while now

His genius was always in his simplicity. The guy seemed to have it figured out that you could put up boatloads of points just by having the best athlete on the field at QB and gassing a bunch of fat bodied teenagers on the other side. Then he decides he's gonna show everyone he knows how to operate a 'real' offense. Welp....

He's like fvcking Eric Spoelstra. All these idiots on the boog board want to give him so much credit for 2010 and 2013.... nah dawg, he just had the best athlete on the field and let him improvise every single play. Notice what happens when shitty corches lose a guy like Cam, Narshall, Lebron, etc.

100% agree.

Gus seems to treat the game of football like it's the most difficult thing in the world to understand and that true/RS freshmen on offense have almost no hope of grasping it their first 1-2 years. This is largely why I think we see shitty performance from HS QBs he had to develop, or why we see shitty/mediocre veterans almost always playing over elite youngsters whom we all expected to come in and make a difference... and why they never seem to reach their fully developed potential.

I think there is almost zero premium placed on incorporating young talent as quickly as possible from our retarded HC. I think he almost completely disregards the freshmen in camp because he thinks they cannot be taught our system quickly enough or because he thinks perfect implementation of his system (by a "more experienced", less talented player) is more impactful towards winning football games than a player's actual talent/ability.

It's also why I think he's a shitty recruiter, especially of QBs. He is deluded into believing his system > player and that his "system" is good enough to be "plug and play".

This mindset and approach is showing itself to be hilariously wrong and is going to cost him his Power 5 HC career. Hopefully he has fully digested his Humble Pie when he's back in Springdale, Arkansas coaching HS football.

I'm not even sure he "let" them. I just think Cam and Nick said, FU Gue. I'm winning this beotch in spite of yore stupid azz.

I just cannot fathom the arrogance and incompetence that goes into the mindset of winning multiple championships with a certain type of QB and deciding that you weren't happy because that's not your "ideal picture of your offense", and then telling Lamar Jackson "nah, bruh... we're good with Tyler Queen" for most of the recruiting cycle.

PREACH... it is ridiculous that his go to excuse is almost always youth first and foremost. Players make plays... no matter how long they have been in the system. How he can't realize this is beyond me. It's like the fact that he legit thinks that Stid needs more "game experience" to realize that throwing the ball away is beneficial... because he hasn't been playing QB all his life or anything.

I legitimately believe he is going to have a mental breakdown or his circuit board is gonna get fried by the end of the season.

And I'd bet the house on the fact he's not even aware enuf to be kicking himself over LJ now being considered the front runner for the Heisman AGAIN! Dear Lourde what could have been if Gue had been able to extract his head from his rectum.

I think he actually must be a fantastic recruiter. How else could he get legitimate SEC level talent to come play in this sh*tazz offense? He actually convinced Stidham to come play in the mess. And even though he did not directly recruit them, we have multiple stud WR talent who agreed to play in this clown show. Imagine the kind of players he could recruit if he actually knew anything about college level football offense.

It was the bells and whistles of a new offense with Chip, and some extra push from one of his only buds in the business Briles. Sold him a bag full of rocks!

It's a damn shame... and it is also beyond sad/pathetic that the majority of our non-board brethren are still making excuses for the man, and expect anything more than mediocrity and more November losses going forward

I agree with @4Panic and I also think he's been riding the coat tails of Cam and Nick. If Studs is a bust, we gonna see a significant drop in QB prospects even considering AU. Folks gonna realize that Kool-Aid he selling is just water with some food coloring stirred in.

I swear to God, if I have to read "Jarrett probably wasn't that good to begin with" or "Nate Craig isn't getting open so you can't fault Gus/Kodi" the rest of the year, I'm going to get permabanned from the Bunker for the shitstorm I will create over there.

I'm so sick of many of our fans being even more incompetent about college football than our deluded HC.

Our HC won a Natty last season.

Do it...do it now. I feel free and clear of all hatred right now. Life cleansing event for me.

Glad you made it over to the dAUke side, brAUther.

AUnother good pAUster joins the dAUke side...

If I had them you already know I would pass them on to you. To get you by just imagine our studs playing 4 pickup games against some scrubs in the rec. The belittlement our guys dished out was almost too much to watch.
Yes it's unfortunate we couldn't find a better group of stiffs to run roughshod over but hopefully the trip will still pay dividends this season.
