Lol at the Coaches Poll

These dudes simply don't watch games. One of the polls has TCU behind a bunch of big name BigTen teams just because of name recognition. TCU has looked fantastic. No reason not to put them above some of these "name" teams that have played mediocre football.

Florida St still in the top 25 despite being 0-2 is stupid as well.
TRUE, unless you are the boogs. They were 0-2 in 1984 and were in the Top Twenty. But at least they played the defending national champs, Miami & Texas who was ranked #5 in the final pole of 1983. Why the hell would they start out with two opponents like that? The Texas game was scheduled, but Miami was the Kick Off Classic. The BO went down against Texas & missed half of the season. Bad way to start the season.

Two years in row that Dye wasted "all time" talent. Seems we haven't been able to get over the hump when it comes to preseason expectations since those years. The Kick off Classic was still in its early stages, so we can't blame our AD for scheduling that. It was our chance to prove that we should've been #1 in 1983 instead of the Canes. They stepped up. We moonwalked out with 9 losses in two years after being pre season Top 3.

Ranked #1 in 1985, and then Knoxville happened. Dye thought he could go up there and just pitch the ball to BO, and no one could tackle him. 24-Zip after 30 minutes and that stupid idea was exposed. Started 84 as #1.

College football polls are arguably the worst ranking system ever concocted. Nobody has enough time to evaluate every possible top 25 team in the 9ish hours between the end of the week and the deadline for votes, much less coaches and media who are working their asses off. They should wait until Tuesday to release the poes like the oulde days.

It's a sport where they used to literally just vote on the national champion. Clearly run by deranged individuals

Tony Robinson stole my cocaine! Ugly day!
SOB also stole BO's Sports Illustrated cover that was coming out the following Monday

It was a big game for the Meadowlands sports authority coupled with UM's leap-frog over us--well, it made it a big such us what you got UM and AU--settle this dispute when imo it was settled January 1, 1984. AU should have been named in my opinion to be NCs but I was biased.

We lost to a very good UT team, that would have won it all but for a very tough UGA D and a last minute scamper by my wife's cousin, John Lastinger.

He told me at our wedding that he helped lay it all out for us and then we had our close win over a decent UMich. team with a nasty defense.

UM had been spanked by the Gators early in the season and many forgot about that loss--28-3, I think. A Gator team AU beat 28-21, I think.

Old memories.

That one was a tough loss. He went 50 yards on the second play as I recall.
Not planned--dropped back to pass--the rush came in quick, and he took off.

Leyland went nuts-102,000 fans--and that was the way this day at UT was going to go.

Sigh

More old memories.
