Just checked the reliable Espn prediction algorithm, and it predicts the Boogs as pretty heavy favorites. And, spoiler alert,Boogs are favored by those math nerds in all our remaining games.

Gotta think Malick is back. Maybe Austin gets a few minutes. But I’m predicting Bryce to get hot in the Clam and lead the Boogs to the dub with a 20+ point performance.

The concern for this game is that MSU is on a 5 game winning streak and its mostly due to a combination of better defense and a soft schedule. They did make a real effort to improve defensively after losing 4 of 6. It looks like they've slowed the pace down too, which is a bit concerning.

On the other hand they are missing the Witherspoon that got suspended, but I think he was the lesser one. What that's done is make them go to a very short rotation. They are playing 7 guys and that's it. Some scrub got 1 minute in a game due to foul trouble I think.

They are winning the turnover battle but losing the offensive glass. They are shooting a large number of 3's and FT's.

Nice breakdown. Do not need to let them dictate the pace the way Ole Miss did to us.

Came here to post this. Odd stat indeed. Wonder which two we lost with his extended minutes. Also, could this have happened because we play him more when we have a big lead?
That was my thought, too. But J has played with confidence and speed lately that demands more minutes.

I think he's also had 2-3 games where he was so bad immediately that he didn't get many minutes. LSU comes to mind. Good grief Waters was gonna pick his pocket 12 times if he played 15 minutes.
I was on the beach for that one, so my opinion may not be fully informed.

Is this due to trash time or has he really been that vital this season?
I think when he’s been good it’s made a big difference. But some games he’s come in and been so trash that Bruce barely plays him after that first run and then we are wearing Bryce and Harper thinner

After a brief review of his game log and considering we’ve won exactly zero close games against good teams I’d consider the stat meaningless. He was a difference maker against UGA though.

Kid has shown flashes of brilliance hopefully he can do it consistently down the stretch here.

ok gang - been out of pocket for a while so blame the last 2 shit sandwiches on me

saw the first half of UK in a cabin in the middle of nowhere before the power went out and I just got obliterated even worse than our poor HYG’s did - then was so behind on work when I got back this week I didn’t even have a chance to think about watching the UGA game

1 - should I watch the replay of the UGA game or skip it for my mental health?

2 - quick rundown on injury situation for Malik and Austin?

3 - ANY good news at all? lie to me - make something up - promise me things that will never happen - I can deal with the disappointment later, but I need some good vibes to delude myself with for now

1. Watch the first half and then last 4 minutes of the game

2. Austin seems to have the body of 95 year old woman. Probably useless the rest of the year until tourney, if then. I think Malik will be fine

3. The Doctor is becoming the man we all knew he could be

I’m about to say something that is rice level homerism, but just hear me out...

watching the replay of the UGA game, and - there’s no way to prove this with any data that I have available to me - but it just seems like we’re snakebit on 50/50 balls... I’m not going to say unlucky, because I’m sure there are reasons for it that I’m not smart enough to understand... we’re either slow to react or not agile enough, or our guards are worn down and get beat to loose balls that we got to last year due to fatigue, or our bigs’ hands aren’t good enough to secure them... but something is up and the cumulative effect is hurting us

on the whole I don’t get too upset about that stuff because over the course of a game they generally even out - even moreso over the course of a season... but the only game all year I remember feeling like we were on the good end of the “random” bounces was the LSU game... and we still lost it, so maybe it’s a complete non-factor

but either way - we’re KILLING ourselves continually losing out on 50/50 balls... which is crazy considering we play undersized lineups

at this point I don’t think it’s random luck that’s due to turn around - it’s who we are this year... but if the basketball gods see fit to even things out for us over the next month, then praise be unto BRUCE

I think it’s part in him. When he plays poor his first sub he sits longer. His first time sub in game is huge for him and telling if the direction we are going. It also keeps Jared fresher for the end. But when both are off..woof.

I would say we are snake but with teams hitting buzzer beaters as the shit clock goes off. It’s pretty amazing how often a team will just have to throw it up bc if the clock and it go in.

definitely... I’m probably doing a poor job explaining what I’m feeling, but it does kinda go hand in hand with that

it’s not stuff like 2 guys going for rebounds that go out of bounds and they get the close calls... or long rebounds going to a spot where they chase it down instead of us... we can’t complain about any of that stuff

I’m talking weird things like we deflect a pass - it goes off someone’s chest or shoulder - but somehow ends up in their hands because our guys don’t secure it... or we make a play defensively to cause a potential turnover but it ricochets out of bounds off us, or it causes a tie up where they keep possession

it just seems like the scramble plays that we’re causing because of good activity aren’t being rewarded... and maybe it’s because we’re just effing up and not finishing... but between those weird bounces, and late in the shot clock prayers being answered, we’re not finishing nearly as many defensive possessions as we should - and cumulatively over the course of the season we’re on the bad side of it

it could also just be evening out for the good breaks last year... but I’m choosing to believe it’s because last year we boog’d all over people and just earned all of the good breaks - there was no luck involved at all... whereas this year we’re getting hosed

and you’ll never convince me otherwise

Nervous as fvck about this one. I think we can win, but without Wiley and Malik probably still limited, we have very little margin for error. We need to boog real hard to start the game and build a strong lead to take the pressure off. Of the three remaining games, this is the most winnable IMO, and we need to win one.

we’re winning the next 3... I’ve said it for months and will die saying it - but I’ll believe we lose to that trash UT squad of hideous tryhards, in the Clam, on Sr Night, when we’re down 15 with 3 minutes left... and not a second before

I’ve said this to a few people while watching games. 50/50 balls aren’t going our way this year. Im like you. Don’t think there’s one good explanation for it, but we haven’t really been on the good side of them in a while.

there’s zero way to prove it - and I’m ashamed for even saying it because of how internet message board superfan homer’ish it is

but I’ve been thinking it for a few weeks now, and needed to get it off my chest in a safe space

Very accurate. I have never seen a team get so unlucky as we have all year. Normally the breaks even out, but we have had the vast majority of the big breaks go against us all year in critical spots with games on the line.

Boogs punch their ticket to the dance today. No way we get swept by the Mud State schools. Boogs by 4, thanks to a late trash 3 by one of the Weatherspooners.
