OT: 2019 CFB Thread (Non-Boogs)

Guess it’ll be interesting to see how DAN will do in his second season there. Still think their qb blows but maybe Mullen can whisper the proper sweet nothings into his ears to make him decent

Felipe Franks and the A&M QB are two guys who I just feel like never improve like I thought they would

I'm sure everyone here is aware that our DUKES are the upset special of the week in Week One. Maybe @GregMadia can give us rubdown & include some our regular gurus here.

Liking that Arizona team total tonight. Hoping that Sumlin has been partaking in some stout Island Cocktails and dials it up for Kahlil today.

I think UF wins by 10 tonight.
I agree but I'm also not sure that is going to mean much for their SEC hopes. Miami doesn't seem to be a consistent measuring stick any longer.

I wish I could say I was excited at all about the season. Even if Auburn wasn't poised to disappoint me I'm just not all that into watching the same 2 teams be heavily favored to play for the title again. Nothing really feels like it matters because we're going to end the season watching a combination of bama/Clemson/UGA/Ohio State basically.

Just hoping we can see Fields vs UGA or Hurts vs Bama in the playoffs. Those possibilities are the only thing that excite me right now.

I'm not sure what exactly broke me, but I just don't have any level of excitement for anything CFB or NFL related right now. I think it's a combo of 20 things. I hate Gus. I'm tired of watching teams punt from midfield on 4th and 2, like it literally drives me crazy to watch in a day and age where points are through the roof and HC's make $7 million and don't know how to manage a clock or game. It's harder to commit to 4-5 hours to watch full games now for me. The narrative network stuff that makes Antonio Brown's helmet issues a 3 week story. The NCAA making no sense on any decisions at all. All if it just has worn me out. My relationship with football is like a broken marriage where you are only sticking around for the kids or because you financially can't afford a divorce.

I think the only medicine would be a fun, exciting AU team led by a coach I enjoyed rooting for. Cause right now I'm just counting down the days to AU hoops is back while watching my EPL matches and coaching some youth soccer. Football ranks solidly behind all those things.

True that. I can really only sit and watch one football game on Saturday so it’s gonna be the Boogs. Just too fidgety and disinterested to sit and take it all in anymore. That’s what I love about Boog hoops too. More games. Only 2ish hours a piece. And they’re more exciting and the format doesn’t completely ruin a season after one loss

Mullen been doing the Gator Chomp since he appeared on SECNW about two hours ago. I heard him leading a cheer in Starkvegas in 2012 when his squad was going off the field after warmups. I thought it was staged, but looked down and there he was with a mike on the field. Guys a good corch, but gives me the willies.

I’m not giving up on my play but I wish I had Hawaii over 30.5 right now.

UF just won, about all you can say. Ugly 1-0 is better than the alternative. Might prove they’re overrated. Will still be hard to beat on the road for most SEC teams.

Mullen is a weird dude. Kinda like a jittery version of Randy Quade

That UF-UK game, in couple of weeks, seems a bit more interesting, now. Never thought I'd say a foosball game involving UK would be interesting, but Stoops seems to have some mojo.

Stoops is probably a damn good coach. Somebody that can win 10 games at UK in football in 2018 deserves some respect.

As sloppy as the game was last night and as poor as the QB play was at times, it was a pleasure to see offensive play calling that took advantage of the whole field for a change.

Took Miami a half just about to complete a pass that was airborne over the line of scrimmage. After that it got fun/stupid but it was terrible football, saved by some drama and a few big plays.

I'm becoming convinced there are like 5 good coaches left in the entire sport. Weird how fans assume that a certain % of players are going to get their big money contract and never be as good/focused/driven again but never thought about what happens when coordinators go from making 80k to 800k in a couple of decades and HC have golden parachute buyouts for tens of millions. Look at Kevin Sumlin...dude was legit one of the hottest things in football, got a big massive guarantee in his next contract and has been hot garbage ever since. Same with Gus and 20 other guys. Teams can't stop shooting themselves in the foot with braindead errors. That has to be down to the guys at the top being distracted by managing their huge bankrolls instead of still being focused on building them.

when you think about it though, this is the case in almost all competive sports leagues. There's generally only about 5 or 6 teams each year that can realistically win. It's just in college football, there's way more teams which means way more coaches and way more delusional fans with unrealistic expectations for their program.

He made a believer out of me. 10 wins at Kentucky? That's a nearly impossible feat. If I was Auburn, I'd give him a look when Gus is gone

The money end of sports really has killed some the passion from coaches/players/fans

All of this is true, but what I am wondering about is the quality of coaching outside of those handful of places in CFB. Yeah Miss State isn't going to win the league, but there is a difference between not having the talent to win the league and being poorly coached while also having lesser talent. Teams are committing tons of bad penalties. Coaches regularly have to use TO's in spots they should absolutely not...can't get plays in, can't decide fast enough on a play call (GUS), can't get the punt team on fast enough etc. It feels like this stuff is happening more and I wonder if it's happening because the guy at Miss State/Houston/Vandy doesn't need to keep climbing the ladder to be wealthy for life. He can be set after 6 years of mediocrity.

Mainly just wanted to be the one that started one of these.

Kinda want UF to dominate tonight

I know it’s rinse, wash and repeat with the bama defense, but they have taken a serious hit with the lose of Moses and to their LB core in general. I thought they had a chance to be one of the best bama defenses of all-time this year. As a person with a heart you hate it for the kid. By all accounts he is a really good guy.

I have seen a lot of talk about them really taking a step back this year. Was hard for me to believe with 5-6 Top Two round picks running out there. This will hurt them though. If they weren’t gonna score 50 a game I’d feel for them. Do hate it for the kid!

Ken Briles showing out in his debut at FSU. Really wish the boogs would’ve gotten down off their high horse and hired him
