OT: Boog coaches "distraught"

“What did LSU’s defense do at half-time? Two things: they employed more run blitzes, but the most important thing, obviously, they moved the safety into the box,” Landry explains.

Landry expected Auburn to change its offensive focus to make the home-standing Tigers pay for their adjustments, but Auburn never did.

I made the safe assumption that Auburn was now going to attack the middle of the field,” Landry said. The middle of the field was displaced as LSU was having to overplay the run. So now Auburn’s got LSU where they want them. They got ‘em on the run… so Auburn’s going to attack the middle of the field.

“Well, no, they didn’t. Inexplicably, Auburn continued to run the football. With a 20 point lead there were 17 consecutive runs on first down by Auburn.”

Only throwing 50-50 balls is a problem

Only throwing 50-50 balls to Sal and Hastings when you have NATE and MCCLAIN is just trying to lose IMO
I can't help but think we would have been better off throwing to Wee Willy more than we did. The repetitive deep balls to the guy who I will never speak of again, russelled me to the max. ZFG about using russell here btw.

I'm not against using Hastings more, just makes no sense to use him for jump balls against NFL corners.

The sets where we motioned Hastings into almost the HBack spot and then ran basically the read option but threw the quick pass to Hastings instead of Stidham running as the option was really quite impressive to watch. It worked really well. Then we never did it again after the first quarter

I am almost as rustled by the type of passes we throw to Eli Stove as the ones to Hastings. Stove has about as little chance making a play on a jump ball in tight or double coverage as Wild Will.

Next time some idiot comes back at me for criticizing a coach with "how many games have you coached" I'm pointing to this article. AU fans have been screaming these things for 2-3 years. It's been apparent if you have a brain. You don't need a coaching job to see abject stupidity.

Day 3 and I'm still sad. Also really worried that we aren't going to fire him because of all the shit going on in AD.
aTm has risen to 6th in the conference in rush defense and are 4th in scoring offense. There's still a chance we roll in to UGA with 3 losses.

7-5 is still a very real possibility. Let's just hope that aTm keeps it together.

Multiple reasons to root for Sumlin now. We may not need that loss to get rid of Gus, but man it goes a long way to helping our cause.

I'd love to see Sumlin go 10-2 or 9-3 and keep his job. We don't need to be coach shopping against that money. And when we hire a new HC, I want him to get to face Sumlin at A&M instead of someone good. If he goes 10-2 he's going to have done it by beating a terrible Arky in OT, beating a mediocre USCe by one score, beating a bad UF team by 2....and then running off wins vs an AU team that fires their coach and LSU who'd like their coach to lose enough they have to fire him.

He's still bad, even if he goes 10-2 in this SEC. But I'll be glad he succeeds this year if it helps us out.

Perfect scenario is losses to Arky and A&M, Gus is told to take a hike midseason at 5-4, and then beat UGA and Bama with interim Kevin Steele. Beluga and Sumlin keep their gigs, and what once looked like a crowded job fair now looks less so (maybe only Tennessee, and they just hire nincompoops anyways). Then we make a splash hire the week of the SEC Championship, and our new wolf gets to spend December getting our kids ready for the Outback Bowl. And, oh yeah, all of the basketball players are eligible and we make the Sweet Sixteen this year.

This fantasy is brought to you by Zaxby's. Damn fine wings. Damn fine price.
