What makes me nervous is that it's Auburn.
Yes. We still need to put out feelers for Jimbo and Petrino. Past those 2 I have no confidence whatsoever in who we’d get regardless of other openings.

Worst part is we got hammered for this with the Petrino mess in 03, but this is the way business should be done. If we can lock up something better then fire Gus. If not, tell Stidham to go pro or break his legs and let's run the zone read with Malik and/or Greatwood.
I’m scared Florida is gonna get Chip Kelly gang. Or maybe they can woo Bob Stoops back there. UF isn’t gonna play around with this hire. UT still seems like they’re content to pussy foot about everything.

I just don't know what their price range is. Still paying Boom, reportedly paying Mac in access of 9 mill. Chip may be their only option if they want to avoid a payout to another school on top of a new salary worth multi millions of dollars. Maybe the hunchback has a buyout exception for Fla or something.
Totally just speculation on my end, but I don’t think they’d have pulled the trigger this early if they weren’t pretty confident that they won’t be paying Mac anything close to his full buyout. Could easily be wrong there, but they weren’t just floating the phrase “firing with cause” for no reason. They’ll probably negotiate a settlement but I doubt it’s very much

I need to make a correction. I went back to the thread to look at the exact amount. The buyout details were not posted by a mod but a "well known poster" so could be wrong.

A&M looking like their typical late season garbage Again is freaking me out. Gus adding another SEC West blowout isn’t a great look for those of us wanting him gone. Arky getting a W was bad too IMO. We want there to be no doubt about them firing Bert. We need them calling in the next few weeks. Bert saving his job looked impossible down 4 scores the other day until it suddenly didn’t.
I think they overplayed the hell out of their hand. This felt to me like UF a bit desperately telling Jimmy Mac and his agents to make them an offer to end this quickly. 9 our of 12 is the rumor and that feels about right for a quick, painless resolution. They could have dragged him through the mud and hurt him personally but likely had to pay him the full buyout and his legal fees.
As long as the boogs hire Bill Clark (no offense @Harvey Specter), I won't be nervous in the least.
My concern with Clark would be recruiting. I would be concerned that tptb would try to force a staff on him, and I'm not sure that fits what he does.
BRUH BILL is a fine ball coarch but doesn't have the personality required. Therefore he can't be considered an acceptable candidate at this time. I'm very sorry.
We'll have good recruiters. We'll always have good recruiters. Just because Clark comes to Auburn doesn't mean that he'll hire a bunch of nobodies to fill his staff. I'd be willing to bet that Steele stays on staff as well as T-Will. Coaches will want to come coach at Auburn. They always have and they always will.

I don’t know if it’s on record but I saw it happen with my own eyes on more than one ocassion. And these were not college teens, iykwim.
This is where I am at this point. Before the season, I thought if Gus lost amen corner he would need to win 10 games to keep his job. I'm coming to the realization that as long as Gus gets past TAMU he won't be fired. He may still go to Arkansas but I think it's 50/50 if Arkansas even fires Beliema. I've heard that they like the Memphis coach even if they do fire Fat Bert. I'm with @CowardlyToaster on BOOM and REX being the type of guys Auburn needs. I'm also a big fan of Josh McDaniels. His personality makes you want to OD on ambien but he would absolutely work the amateurish DC's in college football. He could also put a twinkle in some young hulking recruits eyes with all of his super bowl rings.
