OT: Is AU recruiting Torrance Gibson to play QB?

I imagine his offer is contingent on what Stidham does.
I doubt it has much to do with stidham. I think it depends more on if we hold onto gatewood and find another quality highschool qb. If we don't then he'll prob receive an offer. Even if stidham stays it would leave us with only 3 scholarship qbs if gatewood is the only one in the class.

Also, I havnt seen near enough from stidham to think he's going anywhere.

I don't think we've decided yet. I don't believe he has an offer from us for any position. I'd like us to take a JUCO or grad transfer with multiple years of eligibility to add to the class with Gatewood. Just not sure Gibson would be the guy that would understand and accept that role.

I think Fields has his offer

I really do not know how anyone can have a neg opinion on JF3.

1.He was brought in and told he could play QB when they wanted him as an athlete at WR.

2. He was given 3rd team reps even when he was listed as qb2. JJ got the majority of qb 1 reps until it was going to cost Gus his job and then he got Johns reps at Qb2.

3. When inserted into the game, he was hamstrung by playcalling and lack of meaningful reps.

He was basically the red headed stepson Gus had to claim but resented for it.

He may have been successful if the coach had played to his strengths or ran the 2013 version of the offense. He was never going to succeed playing the 2014-2017 offense though. Everyone knows that and yet we signed him purely to make sure JJ was option 1 or 2 it seems.

I can't hate on a kid with talent that was signed and shelved. If they did not like what he brought to the table then they should have not signed him. If they were going to sign him and not develop him or tailor a game plan to him, then that is roster maleficence and is on the staff.

i won't deny any of this or hate on him BUT he didn't excel at FSU, MGCCC, or AU and now isn't exactly lighting it up at FAU

6'4 210lbs with good speed. A decent corching staff could find a place for that young man. Was on his way to starting at WR for OSU before being suspended.
Call me crazy, but if he comes to AU as a WR I don’t think Coach Kodi is the man to handle big, troublesome egos. Not that Jason Smith was an all star or anything, but coach Kodi already fugged up that situation

I'm tired of seeing them waste scholarships on guys they want to convert...this staff has had little to no success with it. They can barely coach the kids in their natural positions.

I would definitely offer Gibson, even with Stidham coming back. Assuming Stidham comes back, Gibson will know he ain't going to be the starting QB and we won't sell him on that.

Take him and you now have an 6'5 225lb elite athlete that can be an emergency #3 QB if something were to happen to Stidham and Willis and Gatewood isn't ready to play. Put him at WR and get him the ball.

Better than offering a 2nd HS kid that won't ever play (unless we think we have found another Willis late)

Gus and Kodi haven’t proven to be very proficient at managing trouble maker egos. I’m taking a pass cuz they’d screw it up

Is he a trouble maker (I genuinely don't know)?

Also, what trouble makers has Kodi had to deal with?

I’d say coach Kodi handled the Jason Smith thing, whatever it was, poorly.

Why would you say that? Again, I am genuinely asking. Besides not being able to break into the playing rotation, what happened with J Smith and what was handled wrong?

Kodi didn't like his "effort" And he was in the dog house all of last year.

He also isn't very good.

But how did he not handle manage Smith well? I mean, I am not in anyway trying to make Kodi out to be a good/great coach by any means, but I don't see the connection here on him being proven of not knowing how to manage trouble makers egos.

I could be completely missing something, though.

Not much to correlate really. Kodi didn't like his attitude. Kodi didn't have time for it. He basically just left JS in the dog house and at the bottom of the pecking order. Really gave JS no way to improve his stock. Basically just moved on from the kid like he didn't exist from what I understand. Maybe, I am missing part of the picture. I am willing to believe that.

Seems like that's how JGT described it if I remember correctly.

He was hands down better than Marcus Davis because a paper sack was better than Marcus Davis in 2016 yet he kept playing

would you say that you take that stance on every single player who transfers, gets in the doghouse, or kicked off the team?

Edit: I know you'll say no, but it usually is the case

Not at all. I hated to see Marlon character and Stanton Truitt go. Thought both were two really talented players that could have played a role on this team over the next couple of years.

We can go ahead and take that Fields offer back and give it to someone who might come here.

Wait did I miss somethhing where Young Fields ain't coming to Awbren anymore? Thought he was a lawk per them insiders over in boogtown.

Nothing is official, but it seems like we had a window early in the season to impress him with our new and improved offense. But we showed very little new and Gus gussed, and it sounds like we wasted/missed/lost our opportunity to get him on board. Maybe he comes back around if Auburn continues its good play at QB and Stidham continues to progress. I'm not holding my breath though.

I think he goes to UGA. Auburn and UGA will likely have similar QB situations next year unless Eason leaves or Stidham leaves (not expecting either to happen). So, it comes down to where he's most comfortablt, and I think that is UGA right now. And unless something significant changes or has changed, I don't think FSU is in it. Apparently, Fields' dad is/was very unhappy with the someone on the FSU coaching staff.
