OT: January 23rd, 2018...

Are we at all confident about this?

Confident? Not really. There is at least some hope the ruling could be changed. Otherwise, there would be no need for an appeal. Wiley will get to speak, and the 6-person panel is made up of AD types, not NCAA compliance types. So, maybe there is an ability to reason with them that his time served is sufficient and he can resume at some point this season.

I think some of the Greg has smoked pot with members of the appeal committee, so hopes are high.

From PM:

"Austin Wiley's appeal of the decision suspending him until next season will be heard Tuesday at 1:30 p.m. No one I talked to knows exactly when a decision will be rendered, but it is expected to be quick. Same day, maybe."
Praying for the best. Hopefully he’s been busy rehearsing a sob story and we’ve been working behind the scenes bribing/blackmailing the committee.

Knowing nothing more than what was in the FBI document and what has been posted on these boards, I’d think Wiley has a legit chance of reducing his sentence if there isn’t anything directly implicating him having knowledge of his parents getting money.

I think he could argue it wasn’t in his best interests, he wasn’t involved and had no knowledge of the money plan, and his punishment so far is longer than other situations where a student athlete received a non-recruiting extra benefit that was paid back. He’s missed 2/3 of the season. If the money has been repaid, that should be more than sufficient for his “crime.”

I’m sure there’s a lot more to this that we probably don’t know, but on the surface, it makes sense to me. Free the man.

I don't know about yall, but I see compassion in these eyes. Except for Trott, he scares me.
Yep, Trott is the potential kink here. They don't call him the Student Athlete Eligibility Trott Line for nothing. And who thinks wearing a white tie with a white shirt is a good idea? Hopefully his conference call line will be accidentally muted throughout the hearing.

If he's anything like Tommy Trott, this kid is sure to drop any charges thrown his direction....
