1. Stidham has a chance to be good. Reeeeaal good. He has 12 incompletions. In the last 3 games. Combined. Was raining bombs out there tonight.

2. Our defense is as good or better than just about any time I've seen it in the last 10-15 years. Could end up on par with 2004.

3. Pettway needs significantly fewer touches. Devan Barrett needs significantly more touches.

4. For God's sake, please replace the Kerryon "pussycat" with MALIK.

5. Please let Malik throw the ball in blowouts. Pretty please.

6. Gus still gonna Gus, but we probably win at least 10 games.

I've currently got the ceiling at 9 regular season wins. If Kellen Mond keeps improving, it's more than likely 8. The run game is going to be shutdown against teams with good DL. Kerryon averaged 2.6 ypc yesterday if you take out the 59 yard run.

It was nice to see a more complete game though. Would have been awesome to let Malik run the playbook once the game has gotten to the point we can't possibly lose.

A&M didn't even put up 400 yds on South Carolina at home. I know you're desperate for Gus to lose, but your prediction game is obviously biased

6) Wild Bill is an ankle breaker

7. I want to see short routes (crossing routes) in the redzone to score TDs. The "get to the redzone and sell out to snap it or hand it to Kerryon on 1st and 2nd down and hope to get bailed out with a low-percentage pass on 3rd down" approach isn't going to be a winning strategy vs good teams, imo.

8. Have I mentioned give Devan Barrett more touches, pls?

9) most impressive play last night was Daniel Thomas making the tackle on the fake punt. It reminded me of watching Reuben sniffing out a screen and blowing it up for a loss. (For clarity, I am in no way comparing Thomas to Foster, just that particular play)

If you take the 4 long pass plays from Stidham he only throws for 106 yards. If you take away the 2 interceptions from Auburn's defense, then Auburn doesn't have any interceptions. If you take away our 49 points, then we don't score an effing point.

That's all true but it still doesn't change that Kerryon averaged 2.6 ypc on 21 of his 22 attempts. I was putting that more on the OL than Kerryon, who's decent when healthy. Elite DLs will hold us to low ypc unless we catch them with their pants down a few times.

Yes. He also only averaged 2.7 ypc last week against a shitty Missouri defense as well. He hasn't been effective at all outside of short yardage in the red zone

We only face 2 elite defenses

I get what you’re saying - but multiple analysts, and NFL teams internally, break down running game performances by taking out the longest carry of a game to give a true indication of performance

take out 1 Stidham pass and his numbers are still great

take out 1 defensive play and their numbers are still great

a recent example - Isaiah Crowell had 1 85 yard TD run for the Browns last year that severely distorted his season averages... take it out and his ypc drops from 4.8 - which is borderline elite in the NFL - to 4.4 - which is average...

a truer representation of his skills is the other 197 carries he had - not that 1... and not the full 198

Take away the 59 yard run from Kerryon and the team still averaged 4.9 yards per carry for 185 yards.

The idea we will not run the ball well against an elite defense is..... SPOT ON! They're considered elite for a reason.

That's fair. Sure would like to see someone besides Kerryon get the opportunity to see if they could do better than 2.6 ypc though.

It's taken 2 great individual plays on the recent fake punts to save what might have been 30 yard gains and were for sure going to be first downs. We are showing something on film that other coaches cannot resist. Looks to me like we're bailing very early and leaving a ton of space in the middle. Lucky it hasn't hurt us.

They're not elite, nowhere close. I was implying they may have an offense before it's all said and done.

Should've split those two thoughts up.
If we lose before UGA it's either due to Gus getting Gussy or injuries. I don't buy the road games as being a huge factor. Clemson is 10x the team with 10x the atmosphere so these other road games will be easier to deal with. We should be well prepared for them.

I'm still betting on Gus getting Gussy. He's still got us doing a few Gussy things like handoffs to RBs who are holding their hamstrings and not giving touches to young players who show massive potential along with taking TOs to figure out what to do on every 4th down. But they are showing enough improvement it won't shock me to go into the UGA game with 1 loss ranked in the top 5

Agree on road atmospheres not being like Clemson except maybe A&M. That place was absolutely rocking last night. Don't know if the TV microphones were set up to amplify it or what, but that home field advantage won them the game last night. If they win out until they play us, they'll have just as much to play for and be excited about and that place will be rocking

But we have a defense so we should still be able to win.

Intermediate passing game. Especially in the RZ. Gonna need to get our hands on one of those before we play the big boys.
Are teams "taking away" the little option routes that Hastings was effectively running in the first few games? I think he's caught more deep balls than quick passes the past two games.

They took it away when Stidham ran one time because he tucked it as soon as Hastings wasn't open

Hard to tell on TV. I'm more concerned with the red zone, really. I can't tell you the last time we've actually scored throwing the ball over the middle in the RZ unless you count that embarrassing gimmick play in the last minute of the Sugar Bowl.

Don't think they'll beat Bama next week. Would be nice if they did tho.

The atmosphere at their game last night was awesome. I have a sister that lives there so would be a cool trip, but it's still a long way out there

Yeah, but you've got to go with the cliches you only live once and life is short. Take it from an oulde - go for it if you can. I'm still mad at myself for not going in 2013.

The A&M defense is improved but only enough to dominate bad offenses. They looked bad vs Arkansas to me. If they can blitz you and get away with it they feel great and play fast. Gotta torch them some early and break that confidence.

And I think you can still get the best of Mond. In fact he is likely to get wrecked this weekend.
