OT: SEC Baseball (not Women's softball)

Had the Ole Miss/aTm game on the second TV while watching the Madness last night. Was a really good game. Ole Miss pulled out a 5-4 win with a 3-run inning in the top of the 8th. aTm loaded the bases in the bottom half but a lengthy review on a call at second seemed to disrupt aTm's rhythm a bit and allowed OM's closer to settle in.

There are some really good series this weekend.

#6 Auburn at #11 Kentucky
Bama at Tennessee
S Carolina at Georgia
#5 Ole Miss at #12 aTm
Miss St at Mizzou

I caught the B9 of the game last night. Bruh was just throwing fastballs by A&M. One guy caught one well, but not quite enough to center for a HR. Other two struck out.

They said (or I think said) A&M had bases loaded with one out in B8, when they brought the closer in early. Struck out next two batters to get out of the jam.

Caracci came in to start the 8th. Struck out the first guy then gave up 2 singles. Then got a ground ball to 1B who threw to the SS at 2nd who didn’t handle the throw. That’s the play that got reviewed. Took forever. Call was upheld, and Caracci struck out Shewmake and Foster with the bases loaded.

Great hitting team in a hitter-friendly park. They hit 7 HRs in their last game against Xavier. They have 3 really good power hitters and several other very good hitters in the lineup.

One frontline starter in Hjelle, who was the SEC pitcher of the year last year. They’re missing a starter, Zack Thompson. So their starting rotation is in flux. They got really touched up at Arkansas last week. Their bullpen is good, but there isn’t a ton of depth.

It’s supposed to be cold cold all weekend. Chance of snow and/or rain a couple days too. Going to be an interesting series.
