Will go see it this weekend. Have read a bunch of mixed reviews, but I really don't expect much from Star Wars except to be visually stunned and have a fun time. Hopefully it's fun.
I’m going to see it in about an hour with a buddy while the wife stays home with the baby. Hope it’s all it’s billed to be.
Watched it tonight and enjoyed it very much. Several wow moments and visually stunning throughout. Quite a bit of comic relief and stuff to keep kids and olds engaged, but without any Jar Jar Binks type nonsense.
Visually awesome.

Rian Johnson basically told J.J Abrams to GFH. Too much bad for it to be a good movie.
I’m by no means a massive Star Wars nerd who divulges into all the back stories from comics and shit, but even I couldn’t enjoy the movie at face value because of all the WTF decisions he wrote into the film.
I thought it was great, but then I take it at face value. It's a fictional story about a galaxy far, far away, good vs evil, love vs hate, greed vs altruism. People who try to read more in to it are having some issues with who they are IMO.
I think movie franchises like Star Wars are kind of in a catch 22 in that their fans are desperate to learn and discover more about the Star Wars universe, but once you start introducing more and more and more characters and shit it becomes impossible to keep the movies compact and concise.

But they killed Luke, and Mark Hamil is alive... But they keep Leia alive yet Carrie Fisher is dead.
They easily could have made this the final one. Do we really need a 3rd installment of this with no major characters left?
The major characters are Rey and Kylo. The whole point of these movies was to phase out the classic characters and start a Star Wars for a new generation.
Mark Hamill obviously won’t be around for much but I bet he appears as a force ghost or some shit in the next one.
It's gonna be really interesting to see what they do. The next movie is gonna take place after a time jump in the narrative. So who knows what's gonna happen. One of the opening scenes will probably be some funeral for Leia
Leia should have been the one that did the kamikaze strike, instead it went to the purple hair lady. Leia should be Dead.
I think she was supposed to have a pretty big role in IX. She had already finished filming this one when she died irl.
you act like they knew she was gonna die in real life after the filming of the movie. I think she was supposed to still have a big role in the last one since Kylo clearly still has mommy and daddy issues. But that whole arc is gonna have to be rewritten. He's killed his dad, thought he was literally killing his uncle, so I imagine there were plans to have Kylo in some type of conflict with Leia in the next one. Will be really interesting to see what they do.
He will try to kill his sister again. I don't buy the whole Rey is the galactic milkman's child thing. Kylo cannot be trusted IMHO.
No chance that they’re brother sister. Rey has met both Han and Leia. That reveal would’ve happened by now. It’s definitely possible that she’s more than just some junkies’ kid.
Meh. The teacher always dies in every hero’s journey before the apprentice is truly ready. That’s just how stories work.
It’s a pretty interesting parallel though that both Kylo and Rey’s died in the same film but under totally different circumstances
Maybe but this was a wholly unique situation with the time period we last saw him and the age of him. So many possibilities to go and EVERYONE wanted to see him. The only sure thing to kill the endless possibilities is death.
