People with Children, does your kid's dance/baseball dominate your life

Is this the life you envisioned?

I find the girls in dance and boys in baseball literally controls my friends lives that participate. I can't tell if they are doing it for them, the kid, or both. Kids are missing school and parents missing work for traveling dance recitals? Other family spent their vacation at the ball park, lol. Like instead of taking real vacations and seeing places, they are traveling to Georgia or Florida for a baseball tourney involving kids, etc.

I assume when I have kids I will feel different, but it seems a bit much to me, lol.

Just wondering if this is the norm or not.

No. And I coach my sons teams. Hell I run the league for 2 age groups and still don’t do the “ live at the park” thing.

Baseball is nuts though. Just too much going on IMO. Some parents don’t want a life though.

Are you doing “park ball” or “travel ball”. Seems like the “travel” ball folks look down on the “park” ball folks like they are poors. I am down with park ball etc. I am not down for the year round chit and spending spring break in some small town for a meaningless tournament for 8 year olds.

I like it. Dance is crazy as hell man. It rivals baseball from what I am seeing, however it is DIME CENTRAL!!!

We’re at park ball now mostly due to age but I’ve coached travel soccer some too and will do some travel ball as they get older. You have choices. You don’t have to do every event. People get crazy with this stuff and coaches wanna play more than practice IMO or only practice to win games...not to make kids better players long term.
