What kind of fishing?

Have become addicted to inchore fly fishing. Mainly redfish and tarpon here on Tejas coast, but planning for 2 destination trip in Sept and March (Belize and Cosmos Atoll). The Cosmo trip takes mucho preparation to get there and you better have your shit together when you do. Have tied about 100 flies during midnight baby watch. Fishing in a big Calcutta tournament this weekend. Crushed em prefishing this past weekend. Hopefully they are still there Thurs.

Why did Taterhead ban you??

Honestly, I don’t remember the details, but I think I was giving some dingbat hell over there about them being a mango thinking Fields was coming to AU and what a simpleton Beep Bop is. They got rustled and I told them to eat a bag of dongs. Finally tater jumped in and asked me if I was intentionally rustling the village idiots and I said absolutly. Guess that is a board rule or something. Don’t rustle the Nancies. I was done with that place anway. Could not handle the all the 2 brain cell types that had infiltrated the place. The news was stale. I get way better info on AU if I just ask my boy.

What's the latest on AUBURN from King Kirby? He at all concerned with our sudden ability to croot his state again and the seemingly strong interest from Haselwood to go along with us already getting a commit from Pappoe? Or is he just sittin back chuckling like always and waiting on his guys to flip on signing day and make AUBURN look foolish yet again?

Also, I know what we all think of Gus, but what does Kirby think when you ask him about our shitty head corch? Aside from owing Gus a nice thank you note for making his current deal jump to nearly $50M, does he think Gus is as absurdly predictable and as big of a goober as we do? I'd like to think he sees things we don't and may have some at least decent things to say, but I'm afraid he just looks at Gus and thanks the good lourde he waited long enough to take the UGA job to be blessed with an SEC run by goons like Gus, Orgeron, etc.

Only thing he is worried about this week is catching some rays and keeping his beers cold. Seriously, he is always worried about something. He always drives for perfection in everything he does. He is never satisfied. I would call him a true pessimist. Always looking for someway to be better. Always looking to upgrade. Always looking to grow and adapt. Always thinking football. Expects everyone else to do the same. What most people don’t know is he is super intelligent. He was a academic all American. Has a master degree. Really gets the business side of the game. Most importantly he realizes he is only one small brick in the wall and will only succeed if he surrounds himself with the best coaches, support staff, boosters and players. When he was at uga he made a lot of really good friends. Those friends are the sons and daughters of the big money behind uga. Those kids are the ones who are/will be writing the checks once mommy and daddy are gone. They have his back. It’s the perfect place for him. He wanted Pappoe, but has plenty of options to fill his spot. Has not mentioned any worries about Hasselwood.

He likes Gus. Thinks he is a strange bird and feels Gus’s lack of relationships and stubbornness really hurts him. The coaching community is tight. You have to use that to your advantage. Gus does not. He thinks we will have a really good squad this year, but honestly he is really only worried about what he can control and that is his program. I think he will be there until he decides to leave the game. If you ask him he worries that he will be fired tomorrow if he does not improve on last year. That’s just the way he approaches his job. His standards for success are astronomical. That’s the only way to continue to improve.

Solid, thanks for taking the time to respond at length. The thing I like most about Kirby is how he never breaks character...IMO, that means he's never bullshitting because if he was putting on a show every time he got behind a mic or reacted to a play on the sidelines or ran across the field at Notre Dame screaming about chopping wood, then he'd eventually break character or be so worried about breaking character that he'd turn into Gus behind the mic and constantly be worried about every word he says and how it may or may not impact his public perception. It's football we're talking about, not rocket science. IMO Gus thinks to much and Kirby just coaches. That carries over to how they act on and off the field too IMO. Kirby just always seems to be intense and focused but confident while Gus seems anxious and annoyed unless everything is going exactly by the script.

Anyway, I'm glad to hear his thoughts on Gus. Glad to hear that he's not shunned by the coaching community, but it sure would be nice if he'd do a better job endearing himself to his colleagues. The biggest difference between the two is your conclusion IMO. While everybody has their base and their go-to plays, Gus seems hell bent on believing that everyhting he runs is perfect if the players executed while Kirby chooses to adapt and learn and make changes to better himself and his program. It's not that Gus isn't trying to win. Bruh definitely works hard and wants to win big. I just don't think he's eager to make changes and welcome outside opinions and I think that will hurt his long term success.

I agree that Kirby will be at UGA for a long time. I think he's a great fit for that program and also a great fit for Athens. It's nice when you see the corch randomly walk into the same restaurant in 5-Points yore at on a random weeknight and have a drink and a meal like a regular person. That's one of the things I always liked about Tubs and hated about Richt when I was growing up in Athens. Don't think I saw Richt one time in my life except at a sporting event. I just find it a little odd when these corches are as young as they are and they don't act like normal people. I hope he is able to end his career in Athens. I hate it, but I really do actually like the guy I just wish he was coaching anythere but UGA. It's one of those things where I hope he's successful, but hope he never gets any closer to the natty than he did the past season....if that keeps him in Athens til he retires, then I'd be happy to see it. Hell, he could get fired tomorrow and retire, so it could be 10-15 years and he could just decide to live in that nice new palace of his and be a multimillionaire and chill in Athens for the rest of his life...he seems like he's the type that may want to coach til he dies like Saban though.

If I was Kirbs or Saban, I would love Gus too.

Congrats @4Panic.
And I like Kirby too, @stutsman23, and think he’s a good coach. Would take him over Gus any day.
Something about guys like him and Boom and guys that just seem to have fun and constantly challenge themselves but never bullshit with their players or their fanbase is just so much more endearing than a paranoid dude who won't tell the AU beat writers anything substantive because he's scared he'll reveal some fatal secret. Bruh, you run like 4 plays, there are no secrets. Just act normal and talk about football and stop being such a goober. It would be a good start at winning over the fanbase....and during those 3-4 weeks during the season when he finally feels like everything is clicking toward the end of Gustober, he actually does seem to have some confidence and even a little swagger in a weird, Gus kinda way, he just needs to find a way to not lose it for the entire season. Just have a little fun, relax, and watch the game. Hell, no matter what happens yore walking away with $50M
