++++++BOOGZ vs KY++++++ this is not an official thread

The ‘true’ bluebloods’ came out on top. Excellent game by the BIG BLUE.
I’m actually over there right now in that thread you started. We are good. We are the GREG. Glad you found your way over here. If you will invest a bit of time here, your basketball cup shall runneth over.

Y’all I’m prone to boog way too hard when it comes to our beloved HYGs and I can understand that being a questionable call. BUT, aside from the fact we got the ass end of the whistle all night and Ho is prone to expose himself to such things the UK player had no chance whatsoever to make a play on the ball. I honestly think it was the right call. That contact caused Ho to land on his head pretty sure that’s a flagrant every time.
Agreed. They went to the monitor. Ho got hammered. They had to call that. Bryce was shoved on the ensuing possession at court before the foul call to put them on the line.

really nothing special on the GREG bruh

You were the ONE PERCENT I was talking about

That I was telling folks about on that handle of yours that you got on tMB. Please splain to these folks how you got your name. Think it was after the lone Boogs huthut Championship even in my short life.
LOL I love how you call it “hut hut” you guys are a trip. So much fun on the Greg

Lost in the misery of this kick in the nuts of a loss, I thought Danjel played well. Knocked down a big 3. Played hard on D and did a nice job on Washington. Fighting for boards. Almost had a pretty assist had it not been kicked out of bounds. I thought he was done after not playing the last two games. Sucks to lose Austin, but Danjel becoming a contributor could be the silver lining.

Yep for the first time today he actually looked like he belonged for stretches. God I’d love to see a Jared/Bryce/Malik/Danjel/Chuma lineup running at peak efficiency

Agreed. As long as he’s playing hard on D I think he helps us. Washington is a big dude and Danjel was fighting him out of the lane. Now if we could get him involved a little more on offense with some cuts to the basket or more good looks from 3.

I thought Danjel looked better but then again he was 1-4 with an air ball on a fade-away J. Was getting barked at by Jvon for being in the wrong place on a costly TO and the butt of a joke between Bruce and Horace where they chuckled about him being a pussy. And he had a PER of -.9 for the game which straight up trash.

That all said I’m still fairly high on his abilities so now he’s getting his chance. He did at least get a body on some physical opponents yesterday and make a shot.

I’m getting a little concerned Samir is who we thought he was. Not athletic or physical enough to be a plus SEC player. It would definitely bettter balance our rotations if he was more of the backup 2 and Malik/ Danjel were the 3s.

Chuma was better but he been missing from 3 a lot lately. Took a bad long 2 late. PJ Washington stat line was slightly better and that may have been the difference in the end.

Hurting boys. Proud but hurting. The effort to get back in that one was amazing. I thought we were toast down 16, even with all that time left. But this team can get so hot offensively that you wonder how we can have such bad stretches at times.

Love Bruce, but thought he was culpable in that terrible stretch from the last 2 minutes of the 1st into the first few minutes of the 2nd, which essentially put us in a place where we had to be perfect to get a W. Harper and Brown were exhausted, Malik had been great and wasn't playing enough and the minute we gave up the TO and they hit a quick 3 he needed to use a TO. We hadn't used one yet and our guys needed to catch a quick break and be sorted out to close the half. Then the 2nd half switch to zone was totally foreseeable and Cal talked about them expecting it. They tore it up. Man was fine in the 1st, it's not like we gave up 50. Until the late run due to bad turnovers and losing some 50/50 scrambles we gave up 8 quick points that only got them to 35. Man was not the problem. That was a bad, predictable move that really hurt.

We've looked more like ourselves without Wiley to be honest, both yesterday and when he played limited minutes vs aTm. I think we may be best served and most dangerous as a small ball team that rotates Mac/Ho/Chuma at the 5 and just tries to make the game a frenzy. That's our element. Hope we could have Wiley be a new element for us but to this point it seems what he brings us actually keeps us from being ourselves. But Mac and Ho have to be more in control and not pick up silly fouls. Don't try to get steals or contest every shot a big tries to take over you. Keep them in front and if some dude hits hooks and 10 foot jumpers over your hands all day we're just going to have to outscore it somehow. Can't live with them in foul trouble. Luckily we won't play too many teams with the size UK has.

Chuma still flashes but isn't consistent at all. His block on PJ and then drawing the charge made me jump out of my seat and I was dealign with a 103 fever and mostly didn't move during the game. He just needs to be more aggressive. Period.

Danjel looked better but is still not close. It's going to be rough for a few more games but the fact that he at least looked like he had seen the sport of basketball before makes me think he can get there possibly. Before yesterday I had given up. We're gonna need his frame to be on the court some and battle on the glass. I wish he has 20% of Horace Spencer's drive man.

My general opinion on Austin is he’s under appreciated by boog nation because he’s stiff and clumsy relative to the rest of the HYGs. But his production is really sold. He’s been stuffing the stat sheet most nights and particularly against our better comp.

Yesterday he could have totally flipped the script on Reid Travis. Taken him away on D and abused him in the post. Instead Ant got abused and never got going on O. He’s the biggest strongest dude out there any time he steps on the court and we really missed that presence.

We are a better offensive team when we run without Wiley..but we are a better team, overall, with him. His length and tebiundinb would have helped so much yesterday.

I’m the natty against Oregon with the infamous Michael Dyer “was he down or not” play. I was using my cousins account at the time. On TMB a bammer was super rustled about it. He kept saying his “rist was down” over and over. He legit thought that is how he spelled it and people were playin along with it. He spelled it like 50 times bc he was so mad. So every time I post I’m making fun of that bammer

I’m torn on this. I know we miss him on the glass and when we face bigs that can score in the paint it’s a real problem on defense. But we flow so much better with smaller/quicker guys.

I want him healthy so we can see and also because I think it’s going to be a game by game thing. One night he might get 10 minutes. One night he might get 28. Depends on matchups.

If Mac could just start making his threes at the 39% clip that he shot last year, then this team would be fire. Chuma too. Their slumps from outside are Boog drainers
There is hardly a player that can check Chuma anywhere on the floor. Can get his shot on anyone. Can post anyone. Can take anyone off the dribble. His J has been off but it’s so silky I suspect he’ll get it right. In the meantime needs to work the block and take it to the hole.

Mac definitely needs that 3 in his arsenal but he just struggles with those big wide bodies on D.

Agree on this. Our other 4s and 5s played hard, but we were at a big disadvantage against Travis and Washington. If Wiley plays, even if he scores 0 points, we win the game by 8-10 points. His 8+ boards and ability to control their post guys on D would have been a difference maker.

Its terribly frustrating to have a guy like Chuma who shows flashes every game of what he can do, but yet he has still failed to become a primary scoring option. With his post game alone, he could score 18 points per game. I have yet to see anyone this year who has the combination of being big and athletic enough to stop him in the post with the moves he can make to get his shot. To reach our ceiling this year, we need him to step into that role. Against a bottom tier SEC team once we have a lead, maybe Bruce will tell the team to get Chuma the ball on every possession for a stretch and tell him to score and only pass if he is doubled. I think it may take something like that to get him to realize what he can do.

Good thoughts. 3 of our losses this year are due to collapses at the end of the first half. Not sure how we fix that, but its an issue that Bruce has to address. If we play decent ball the last 2 mins of the first half against NCSU, Ole Miss and UK, we are sitting with 1 loss right now and ranked in the top 5. It is really tough to come back from a 3 possession hole against good teams, especially on the road.

On Austin, I think he is a net positive for us even when he is not doing much on offense. Most games he is helping us on offense. He has been by far our best option in several games this year and we win at NCSU if we had leaned on him more. He is particularly important against teams with athletic bigs as was the case yesterday. Missing him yesterday was the difference in the outcome.

This might get me ignored so I hate to say it, but nobody listens to me anyway. We went 22-3 without him last year in a 25 game stretch. It ain’t him. The teams we supposedly missed him against last year were TA&M and Bama. We lost to TA&M by one and beat Bama by 19 or some shit at home. Bama’s length on the perimeter hurts us. Mustapha had 28 against the Aggies. We may just miss Mustapha($1 to the prophet shit talker dumpster dude) more than we know. No way Murray and Davion are that much better than Wiley and Purifoy and a year older Harper and Horace and Bryce??

We flow better but when we get outrebounded we can’t flow on fast breaks as much nor does it matter we can flow if the other team can flow too bc we can’t stop anyone inside.
You’re not wrong but I think w would have won with him yesterday bc UK is so long. It’s why I said out of all the games for him to miss, UK was the worsts one to miss.

UK was that long last year too. They are every year.

Yeah boog nation thought he was going to be a top 5 NBA pick, then when he is less than that they turned on him. I remember during UGA, I thought this isn't the best matchup for him but we will need him during the UK game. The way they were calling fouls around the basket last night, even if he doesn't make a shot or a free throw he changes the game by getting their bigs in foul trouble.

I haven’t turned on the guy, but who do you compare him to as far as NBA guys go? I just don’t think he’s that great.

Edit. I never thought he was going to be a top 50 pick, much less Top 5.

I'd guess his ceiling is being something like Nene Hilario

I don’t have a clue. I don’t even know for sure that he is one, but I don’t watch much NBA until playoffs. But I do think he can be a huge asset to us.

We shot and rebounded better last year. Also, UK is better this year than last imo.

All Desean rebounding and shooting better? And I didn't say they weren't better. But they were long last year. Just like every year for the last 10.

Heron was a really good rebounder. Not just desean. Definitely miss Heron on the boards and in transition offense.
