It seems Kam Martin will be “The Guy” heading into the season...

What happened to the Barrett kid? He just gonna come in a catch swing passes his whole career?

Pretty much. He’s been moved to WR to fill in the hole that Eli Stove left when he got injured. IMO Barrett is always going to be a specialty/speed sweep type guy in this system. Not sure he will move back to RB even when Stove returns.

What was the final nail in the coffin?

Edit: After a quick search, you last few posts were in the thread where Penya said with confidence that there were at least 15 QBs in the NFL that he would easily take over Cam. something from that?

He is the most JMU-russeled poster that I have ever seen.

I never noticed until he made a JMU jab at me while he was defending rice the other day

If I see an "@penya quoted you" in my mentions there is a 99% chance he's bitching about this board. I'm not even sure that I had anything to do with him before coming here.

And apparently, he's a frequent visitor here.

Great, the likelihood of Boobee ever taking a meaningful snap just hit rock bottom.

When the OC specifically mentions being worried about Boobee because he got a QB killed on a play by missing a blitz pickup, it makes me think he has a way to go to be one of the first couple of options. That shouldn’t be a surprise considering Whitlow has played RB for about 8-9 months.

I still think Boobie will be the guy after 3 or 4 games. Some of these quotes to the media are just a way to keep him humble and to make him earn it on the field. The coaches also aren't trying to be disrespectful to Kam Martin who's waited patiently to get his chance.

Horton had KMart for 2 years and couldn’t teach him to block well enough to trust him in the SECCG or the Peach Bowl.

Not looking good for Boobee

That’s the most frustrating difference between coaches like Saban and Gus.

Gus gives too much of a shit about veterans’ feels.

Saban only cares about playing the guys who give him the best chance to win... regardless of age.

He will be by LSU game imnsho.

Don’t think it had anything to do with teaching KMart. I think he understands the concepts and can execute them correctly. He just couldn’t physically handle it last year. There were a few times last year where he picked up a blitzing LB and got knocked straight backwards on his ass. His size was a significant issue last fall. I’m sure he’s added more weight for this season, but I’m gonna have to see him handle the blitz a lot better this year to believe he can be a legit RB for us.

To the non fvcking retards that post on this board.......Running the ball has not and will not be an issue this year or in future years under Gus. It doesn't matter who is running the ball as long they don't have down syndrome or they are not a double amputee.

The issue "IS" and will "ALWAYS BE" the simplicity of the passing game under Gus. For Auburn to be successful against teams with similar talent they have to implement a more complex passing attack that uses the whole field and has more than 1 read.

#68th best rushing team in the country.

What I said still holds true. The simplicity in the passing game continues to be an issue and the reason Auburn finished higher in the rushing game nationally than they did the passing game. Nice bump! Appreciate it

If you count all them lame ass screens and “pop” passes as runs or extended handoffs as they should then numbers are probably on par with Gus other seasons. Gus uses them to bolster his passing stats much like bama did with Hurts. Just stupid. A 3 inch pop pass is technically a pass. I get it but it is insane. Should be a different category. Gus’ passing game is and will continue to be the suck. But I was amused at the bump. It was a good bump.

Haha. I guess that's a fair point, we will always have enough rushing offense to get to 8-5.

You have to look into the ranking. The ranking alone doesn’t tell the whole story like Auburn had 150 less rush attempts than in a normal Gus Malzahn year. For example, I think it was close to 150 attempt difference from this year to last. The team averaged 4.25 yards per carry this year.. So you’re looking at almost 650 yards left on the table. Add those 650 yards with the 150 more attempts and Auburn finishes with 2,815 yards which would have put them at 25th nationally. Remember, I did mention nonretards in my original post.

You are right about the 8-5. If he can fix the simplistic passing scheme, then Auburn can do better.

LOL, this is a rice-level defense of an original bad argument. You thought the running game would be fine and it was terrible. At least part of the problem was talent.

Team Rushing Rankings Under Gus per ESPN (no idea why 2018 was slightly different than ncaa.com)
2013 - 1st
2014 - 15th
2015 - 34th
2016 - 8th
2017 - 18th
2018 - 66th

Kind of off topic but I’m surprised we haven’t seen Devon Barrett day that he’s transferring. Guess he thinks he’s found a home on defense

I think I gave factual information. I said we ran the ball less this year than we normally do. That is damn fact, nothing like rice. I didn't make the shit up. We averaged 4.25 yards per carry, so in a normal year we would have had 150 more attempts than this year. Again, not made up. When you take the attempts and the average per rush you would have had 2,815 rushing yards. Again, not made up. 2,815 yards rushing would have put Auburn at 25th in the county this year. Again, I didn't make it up. You can go look yourself. Gus Malzahn's bullshit youth football passing scheme is the issue and will always be the main issue. Maybe you think the running scheme is the problem and that's fine. I disagree whole heatedly with your opinion.

Nobody said anything about scheme, this post has always quite clearly been about talent.

If your argument was a good argument then the yards per attempt would be the same it was in those other years. The yards per attempt dropped from 4.8 to 4.25. You're a dumbass. LOLOLOL.
