Doubt this baby goes more than a page since we’re all immersed in the aura and success of Bruce and the B-ball squad. But, spring practice for the football squad does begin today...........so there’s that.

Doubt we get any information but I’ll be on the lookout for positive news about the RBs, OTs, and TD Moultry.

Those are the storylines I’m most interested in

Am I a bad Boog for not giving a shit about football right now? I'm just so down trodden with Gus fatigue that I've even stopped going to the games. And I only live 3 miles (as the crow flies) from JHS. If it weren't for my wife wanting to take our daughter to her "first Auburn game," I wouldn't even dedicate a single thought towards the ADay this year.

I can only imagine the plethora of special team trick plays that Gus will start working on today.

Btw. Is anyone else surprised that Tiny Tim Horton is still on the staff? Dude has been jonesing for a move for 3 years and still can’t get one.

Decent crooter but it’s obvious the coaching world thinks he’s a dummy
Sometimes I think these coaches make a mistake by taking position gigs at bigger schools instead of trying for OC at a small school. I think they get typecasted after a while and find it harder to persuade someone they would be a good coordinator

True. But they all go to those Big offseason coaching conventions and clinics where they network and have the opportunity to give presentations and demonstrate their knowledge, skills, etc. If he was actually capable, I think he’d have gotten an opportunity by now

I like the Lashlee route... Just start yore career as a coordinator at a blue blood. Lots easier that way

Looking forward to offensive tackle development and how the pass rush keeps going.

I really like Moultrie

I think this is overreaching. I think the dude really wants to be an OC/HC. Nothing wrong with that. Appears he doesn't want to leave unless it is step up (LSU made a run at him to be their RB coach a couple of years back).

So I don't think the coaching world thinks he is a dummy. I just think none have wanted him as their OC/HC.

I think he could have taken other Power of 5 jobs had he been willing to take a lateral move.

But why? He's clearly ready and willing to accept any job offered to him that's a step up, and has been for several year now. But still no offers, and it's not been for a lack of trying. Soooo....

Not sure what you are trying to get at. People have not been ready to give him that promotion. Doesn't mean they think Horton is a dummy.

Really interested how the RB position shakes out. The Whitlow stuff seems overblown to me. Gotta think it’s a Barret, Asa battle. Barrett gotta get better at breaking tackles
Do they all weigh in today? Curious if Barrett put on good weight and also how big Asa is as well.

Am also curious if Big Cat is up to around 250-260

Kinda weird to think that Malik and Gatewood are getting every snap this spring. Good for their development that Jarrett won’t be taking any reps

For the year 2018 Spring football is all I'm interested in unless Stidham gets hurt. Hopefully they let our hulking youngster QBs run crazy. Will be sad when Fall rolls around and Statue Stidham is on his back.

I was told on tbb that D. Craig is just a recruiter for this very reason.

Why are they not ready to give him that promotion? The guy has been coaching college football for nearly 30 years. Surely he could be more than just a position coach and/or recruiter...

Horton's Coaching Career

1990-98 Appalachian State
1999-2005 Air Force
2006 Kansas State
2007-12 Arkansas
2013- Auburn

What else is all of major college football waiting on him to do to prove himself? For ****s sake, Rhett the Jet Lashlee is an OC at Div1 school. Horton got passed over at Ga. State, Memphis, and god-forsaken North Texas, amongst who knows how many other jobs that he's interviewed for that never made the light of day.

Hoping Prince Tega is a no show and bangs for Bruce the rest of the way.
this...so indifferent to the GUS and his legion. solely focussed on Bruce and his handsome host of hulksters and their march into the postseason. Nothing short of the announcement that Coach Dean has accepted the @GREG's challenge to softball beatdown will distract me.

I don't know. why do you come to the conclusion that they think he is a dummy?

Are you saying that all position coaches that never make it to OC/HC are thought of as dummies in the coaching profession?

Bruh I totally checked out on football. I didn't even know signing day had happened until after the fact. It just isn't exciting for me anymore.

I come to that conclusion because any rational, logical person would hire a bright, smart, candidate with 30 years of experience. In what world does someone like this get passed over time and time again from doormat and upstart programs, let alone not even a courtesy interview for big time programs. He clearly doesn't impress confidence upon programs that are interviewing him. Why is that? It certainly isn't because he's a smart, well equipped individual with a masterful plan just waiting to be installed. Again, 30 years of experience in his chosen profession and not even a mid-tier program has offered him a higher job. You're approaching rice status if you can't see the problem.

Why do you come to the conclusion that he is not a dummy......If in fact you have no inside knowledge of the situation? Aren't you "assuming" like everyone else?

So Rotnei is a dummy?

For clarity, @BigtimeAub, I don't think Horton is some elite guy. I just don't think he is a dummy or is viewed as one in his profession.

Good coach and good recruiter. But replaceable and could be upgraded

I think you are taking the term "dummy" to literal. Since you are taking it so literally it allows you room to debate his "dummyness", because clearly the man can walk and chew gum at the same time. When someone refers to Horton as a dummy, they don't mean he can't add, subtract or multiple. They are also not insinuating he needs a cork on his fork to eat.

No, that is not he viewed it's definition

No clue. But no one has given him chance to be coordinator or HC.

He's not actively pursing a coordinator position, but he was asked years ago to be the Defensive Coordinator at Alabama A&M. Rodney is well compensated for what he does and he would lose money taking a job like that. Also, Garner loves chewing ass and I don't think has the desire to be an overseer of a whole defensive unit. And yes, he could be consider a "dummy". Again, don't take "dummy" to literal.

He has Gus Stink on him now. If I were a coach at a major program, I'd want to see how he did as a coordinator at a smaller school before having him on my staff.

@Gran_Polla’s post is exactly how I was looking at it. Horton isn’t a ruhtard by any means. But when it comes to being an OC/HC, his interviewing skills and plans of action clearly don’t make Home look smart. If they did, he’d be hired. He’s clearly a good RB coach, but that’s the easiest job on the field. Gus even just took ST away from him and gave it to Porter. That does not inspire confidence on any level.
