Official Boog Player Combine/Pro Day and NFL Draft Discussion Thread

I would definitely draft the one armed guy

Serious question that I’ve been pondering. Where do you play him?

Situational pass rusher? Not having but one arm means that blocks are going to be hard to get off of in the running game.

Carlton Davis with a 4.53 40 during both his runs. Pretty good number for him I imagine. Probably early 2nd rd now

We need that bad

Just went back and watched some of his drills, Carlton didn’t really impress me that much. Announcers talked about his bad hands.

He was definitely a step up in size from everyone and his arms are long.

Hoping that is more valued over his ball skills

I don't think he is that great of a cover guy. Helluva tackler, but I have never been impressed with his ability as far as coverage goes. Hell, he got picked on this year.

He’s a rich man’s Neiko Thorpe with a much higher football IQ.

So, he’ll probably play in the league for many years with his measureables.

He’s a press corner. That’s his bag. I think if he gets a Seahawks type scheme he could excel.

I could see him being a poor mans Richard Sherman

I don’t think Griffin is worth an elite starter pick but the guys you pick after round 5 are pretty pedestrian.

If I can get a dude that can get forty yards in 4.38 and 225 I can find something for him to do.

I watched a clip of Kerryon running a route and my God did he get underused in the passing game

Wish Pettway would have had his shit together this year

Probably would have been ran 1000 times into the line while KJ sat on the bench. Just do not see Zahn utilizing all the tools in his arsenal. The fact we wasted Corey Grant’s eligibilty showed me all I needed to see.

Now that Pro Day and the Combine are over, do any of you Yoo-hoos wanna guess where our Boogs get drafted?

Carlton - early 2nd
Braden - late 2nd
Kerryon - 2nd rd
Holland - 3rd to 4th
Carlson - 3rd to 4th

Everyone else is kind of a crapshoot

I think you've nailed it except for Kerryon will be a 3rd-4th rounder, and Holland possibly sneaks in late 2 early 3. I just have a hunch.

I wouldn't count out Matthews, Roberts, Tre Williams, Golson, or James for late rounds. Golson and James have potential position flex appeal for teams.

Really, after the 4th round the talent pool is a bit jumbled and anything can happen. The 4th round is the criminals and cripples round, where the top talent guys with rap sheets and surgeries go, then the rest of the draft is wide open.

Either way, still way slower than what Rice claimed.

And Jason Smith, Jesus you’re slow.

Didn’t expect Tray Matthews to be as fast or faster than Roberts too. Good for him

I have posted this before, but I don't think yall have given Matthews the credit he deserves. I will alter a previous statement slightly to make it more reasonable to you guys - I don't think we have had a better duo at safety than Roberts/Matthews in the last 20 years.

I loved the 2002 safety rotation and believe they are the best in the last 20.

Trying to remember off the top of my head, 02 was my senior year of high school. I remember at some point that year we had moved Rosegreen to corner, don't remember if he moved back to safety or not. Wow, completely drawing a blank on the 02 safeties. Who were they?

Nevermind. I graduated in Spring 2002 so that was my freshman year. Was it Robinson and Rosegreen?

Yes and Gilyard

My personal opinion is that Rosegreen gets a lot of nostalgia points from people because of the Reggie hit and the UTk game. My personal opinion is that he was a slightly above average college safety. He struggled to even get tryouts with NFL teams for several years after he graduated.

All that being said, that group and this past year's group are easily 1 and 2 regardless of how you rank them. We just haven't been that good at safety. It's tough to compare them though because we played so much more zone under Tubs and now we play a lot more man.

I totally disagree on rosegreen. Rose green had 6 picks as senior and was the best run support safety we had since Shelling. I tell you this, tray Mathews and Roberts can't hold Rosegreen's jock as far as a collegiate player. Rosegreen was/is the best safety we have had since Brian Robinson. Junior was an All American and he didn't become an All American because of one hit. AP and coaches first team all SEC and AP All American. Maybe you were to young to remember, or maybe you didn't understand the game as well back then to know how good he was.

Yeah me and every NFL team just didn't understand football as well as you.

I think Coe has more potential than Davidson. Coe was more impressive in his first year than Marlon was in his. Don Russ will get drafted too imo. No way Mel is talking about Big Cat Bryant but I’m excited to see what he looks like this year too
