++++++Official Mizzou vs Boogs Game Thread+++++++

I been on this BRUCE train since this all started, because I could feel greater things coming by the year, but most of all because it’s been FUN. I ain’t jumping, but not having the FUN so much right now.

I love Bruce. I like the fast pace style and I like shooting 3’s. With that said, as a coach you have to have an alternate style when the 3’s aren’t falling and you have to implement a little more discipline into your offense when you don’t have the numbers on a break.

Positives - We lead while shooting 5 of 21 from 3 at home. We have to be doing something right to be in that spot. We're 8 for 14 on shots inside the arc...hit the last 2 buckets on midrange jumpers (maybe consider more of this). I don't care about total rebounds, OREbs are the ones I watch and we're even. We're not turning it over. That's nice.

I just.....I can't get over how bad this offense looks. And I'm not the kind of dude to whine about playing too much 1 v 1 ball or jacking up 3's. That normally doesn't bother me because it's our brand and I get it. I let it go, to a degree. But when you watch this bunch they look TERRIBLE on offense for like 80% of every game. The other 20% we go nuclear and hit everything but when we're not Booging it's a hard watch.

That’s what I have been complaint about. You gotta value the possession. 2 on 3 just pull it back and attempt to run an offensive set, especially if you are struggling from 3

I have a way bigger issue with that Bryce stepback or Samir driving and jumping away from contact and airballing a scoop shot because he forced himself into a terrible angle unnecessarily than I do Mac or Horace taking open 3’s on pick & pops or ball reversals

like guys said above, we’re just not good right now... and it’s the homer in me that’s keeping the words “right now” in that sentence

so either something is bad wrong with this team (and I have a hard time believing there’s a chemistry problem), or BRUCE did the coaching job of a lifetime last year and squeezed more motivation out of “4-14” than we ever realized

it’s probably somewhere in between, but it’s fvcking miserable right now regardless of the reason

Mac took 5 from 3. Horace took 1 and it rattled out. We can't have those guys taking 6 from deep per half. The opponent wants that. That's what the defense is daring us to do. Take some open looks, fine.

I'd rather them get into the paint under 5 on the shot clock and be ready to board. The defense isn't defending them out there anyway so standing at the 3 pt line isn't helping our drives at all.

Yet, we still aren’t that far off from being good IMO. Outside of the Ole Miss game it has been 5-7 possessions in the other losses that has cost us the games. I still have hope we can get better and play at a significant higher level. The shots will start falling I hope. Just need to be a bit more disciplined and the players have to play to their strengths while being under control.

This may be the biggest over simplification but I just think we don’t have any chemistry right now. If we find it we will be good enough to make a tourney run. If we don’t we can be bad enough to miss the tourney entirely.

I agree with “right now”. It may sound crazy, but I believe we have the potential to be a really good
Team.

That could be it.

Malik just keeps gooning thought he got T’d up earlier. I don’t know he was pretty damn in control until the last few games. Hell hes Bill Walton’s favorite player needs to live up to that. Wish he would cause then we could crush the offensive glass as god intended instead of just relying on Chuma there.

I don’t think that’s much of an oversimplification... I’d say rotations instead of chemistry though... I’m still confused by how many minutes we play with both Jared and Chuma on the bench... we need 2 of Jared, Bryce, and Chuma on the floor at all times to maximize our chances of getting good looks on offense

Hear me out,

What about Fat Purifoy at the 4, and Chuma at the 3? Does everyone think Chuma could guard as SF well enough for it to happen?

Maybe they’ll start falling, fellas. Great defense can turn into great offense, especially at home. Get confidence and play with a sense of urgency.

That Mac foul looked bad, but he had his arms leaned forward not giving the player a path to go straight up which led to contact. While it didn’t look bad, it was a call that the refs will
Make.
Yeah honestly I was more annoyed that we didn’t get a call on the possession where Samir for the foul.

I’m blatantly stealing the joke from someone here but it’s plays like that one that make me question his reported SAT score

They are in the bonus. They are below average and are flustered right now. Let them shoot and don’t reach.
