******Official Tennessee vs Boogs Game Thread*******^

He loses to Ole Miss Saturday and I just don’t see any way he lasts to next year

Yesterday was so pathetic that now I’d guess he needs to beat Ole Miss, TA&M and UGA to save his job. I know people think that’s irrational, but how many rational people throw 30 million into college football programs?

We are all Rebels now

Yep. And I’m beginning to think their strength as offense is better than our strength as defense. We are regressing to the mean quickly on that side of the ball

How unbelievable is it that this game is a question mark for us? As shitty as I’ve known Gus was for years now, he’s even worse than I thought.

New Good morning.

I'm not down with changing stories/columns after they're written unless there is a factual error.

I see no factual error in last night's ADOB.

However, after speaking with a few people whose opinions we trust, we no longer believe a buyout would need to be paid wholly by "the program's loose affiliation of luxury-box (and court-side) millionaires."

The university/department will be on the hook for some of that money — if the team continues to slide and the decision is made to fire Malzahn. This won't be a fully private buyout, we're told.

People keep mentioning that the university "can't" absorb a financial hit like this one may become, but we think that's (mostly) idle chatter. Auburn has a long history of doing what needs to be done when it comes to football.

Also, and this is something I absolutely DIDN'T KNOW when I penned the column last night, Steven Leath will be held accountable if this buyout becomes a reality. I'm told by multiple sources that his favorability rating is much lower than casual observers realize (I am a casual Leath observer myself) and that triggering the Malzahn buyout could/would cripple Leath's ability to govern the university.

I see no scenario where Allen Greene is affected; this mess wasn't of his creation. He was the AD at Buffalo when Malzahn's current contract was negotiated and signed.

Could there be a changing of the guard happening in the background amongst TPTB? Leath seemed to be their last gasp hire, and then you see Jacobs replaced by a black guy and support put behind him and BRUCE. Maybe some of the younger and/or more intelligent folks are taking some power back?

Also, @Jay G. Tate: don't be a cuck and man up when you're wrong. Got damn you suck.

My god. Big dick Leath getting canned would make this all the more sweeter. The way he fugged with Bruce was embarrassing.

“something that is troubling on many fronts.

Apparently, ADAG spoke this week at an elementary school program called Dedicated Dads.

Paraphrasing...

He first started things off by saying that he isn't a good dad due to his improper work/home life balance. Talked about long hours and openly shared how strained things are within the football program. Even tossed out there that some players aren't showing up for practice. Basically, ADAG sounded frustrated, overwhelmed and just plain downtrodden. Ended his speech with how he's not a good dad.

Very bizarre that our AD is willing to share this with large group of Dads in front of elementary school kids.

Players aren't showing up to practice?

ADAG already sounding beat down and he's less than a year into the job.”

Dude, he's just a PR GOD in the making. That's a brilliant move, it humanizes him and lays the ground work for why they're about to spend an ass load of money to fix past mistakes. Again.

huh. Sounds like a bad game of telephone to me as the poster wasn't even there for the speech. Guessing A Greene was just speaking to a bunch of dads and encouraging them to really evaluate and think about how they balance their work and family life. Probably said something to the effect of "I wasn't a very good father this past year bc I prioritized my career too much with this new demanding job. But that's gonna change yada yada yada.

I reaceny my whole view on this if what JGT said was true. We only owe half up from and the university will cover some of it.

I'm fully on board that is could happen THIS year. Fingers crossed
Will you pose the question about a change in the power structure over there? This could be a huge year for Auburn after all.

I haven’t read all the posts but I will say I’m just surprised anybody thought we would even win yesterday. I walked into the stadium expecting a loss and knew after the first interception JS threw that it was over.

I also feel that if we go 5 - 7 or even 6 - 6, Gus is gone. The monetary loss with keeping him far outweighs what it will cost to buy him out.

Even as shitty as yesterday’s foosball game was, it was a beautiful day on the Plains and I got to talk to Austin Wiley (he is wearing a boot but walking well) after he strolled up beside me while I was walking to my car yesterday. The dude is roughly 2 feet taller than me. From my perspective, it was like talking to a treetop.

Think he’s just being an asshole.

Well we gave him guaranteed "F*&# You" money. You give the wrong person that kind of leverage and they probably are going to be an asshole anytime they damn well please. The worst you can do is hand them $30 million plus to make them go away.

lulx. Even I had UTk and Old Myth as sure wins this season. I completely underestimated how hard Gus would GUS. It's truly entertaining to watch unfold.

Hoddy Toddy, bishes.

Right. I was not high on Gus or his ability to maximize this roster, but I didn't think we'd be possibly not going to a bowl. At worst 4 losses from UDub/LSU/bama/UGA. I figured the sheer talent and defensive playmakers would get us past UTk and the rest.

This roster was a 9-3 at worst roster with good, solid, stable coaching. That would be the minimum, even with a tough schedule. The OL is lacking talent but it could absolutely be maximized by better coaching and scheme. If we could potentially be a 6 out of 10 on the OL this year with the talent we have, we're instead playing like a 2. A 6 isn't good. A 6 just does basic things right, knows assignments and gives effort. We can't even do that.

I'd rather just lose Gus and not any players.

We're going to lose some players one way or the other. I think that we'd lose more if Gus stays TBH. I don't care about Ashley. He's soft as it comes for a highly rated offensive lineman. But if we lose one of #18 or #5 on offense I'm going to lose it. Some bagman take care of this ASAP. The next coach needs those studs.

If #18 leaves, I'll cry.
