Figured I might as well get this started to have a place to put info about any of our boogs that might get drafted.

This site still has Chuma going in early rd 2 after his injury but bumped Austin all the way to the 2020 draft
I have to think Chuma will pass on a 2nd round grade and return. He is a near lock to be a 1st round pick next year if he comes back and is ready to play by January. If he takes a 2nd round deal, he could end up getting waived and no money with no place to finish his rehab over the summer. Returning ensures he has the best rehab set up possible and in a situation where he will not feel he has to rush back or risk being cut.

No sign of Harper there which is in line with most draft boards. And of course Boston would take Hero.

This guy does a pretty good mock:

Still got Dr C at 34. Early 2nd rd guys been getting pretty good money lately. Might be tempting for him.

Talk about a cautionary tale look at Gafford. Was a presumed lotto pick last year, comes back to play for that trash Arkansas club, now he’s projected 2nd rd.

And I would not want my Mavs to touch him anywhere in the 2nd round. His stock took a nosedive and should have. He was a returning stud and looked super average most nights.

Was curious how 2nd rounders were doing recently and this article shocked me a bit on how many end up with some kind of guaranteed money, some with as much as 2 year deals worth some nice cash.

Thanks for posting this. Very interesting. In Chuma's case, there is a huge difference between top 15 money where he could end up and the league minimum he might get guaranteed for 1-2 years in the early 2nd. Getting hurt could make him want to get paid regardless though. I would worry about a team giving him a 1 year deal though and trying to rush him back.

I think he has significantly good reasons to come back if he's a Round 2 guy. I also will understand if the injury scared him and his family enough that they don't want that uber talent playing for free anymore. I think that might be a short sighted decision but I'd understand the emotional response.

Agreed. Can see it both ways. I would think its more likely that he might slide some vs other guys who impress at the combine. Sucks that he is not getting the opportunity to showcase his ability. Had he not gotten hurt, I think there's a good chance he would have been tourney MVP. Riding that kind of momentum into the combine, he easily could have moved into the top 15. I hope he returns and is able to do that next season. Would be awesome to see him persevere through that kind of misfortune and then get a big contract.

No one will ever convince me we don’t win it all if he doesn’t get hurt. If we win it all, he’s a lottery pick.

We're beating UVA by 15 and about the same vs Tech. He was our most valuable two way player for the last month or two and there isn't much argument to make. He would have drawn attention vs that UVA defense and we could have run stuff through him that got others looks. He would have shut down Culver cause he shut down every stud he matched up with.

I agree he was going to be the skyrocket shooting up draft boards too. It was just starting to happen and 3 more games on the biggest stages would have solidified him as a top 15 guy.

It is unreal frustrating to think about what we missed out on. And if the damned refs had not stolen it from us, we very well may have won it without him which would have been one of the all time great college sports stories. Not sure I will ever get unrustled over the way it played out.

His stock was trending up at an unbelievable pace! If he doesn’t have 15 million or more in insurance lined up, he needs to go, as bad as I hate for it to happen.

I assume based on a positive report from Andrews regarding his ACL repair, an insurance company would still write him a policy for next year. He has massive upside if he goes from a 1-2 year league minimum deal to a lotto pick next year.

Agreed. He could've sat at the free throw line against that defense all night and driven in or dished to wide open threes the entire game.

I researched a lot of this like a lunatic last year tracking Austin. So as with most thing I consider myself an expert. One other thing to consider is that those 2nd rd guys not only are getting 1st rd guaranteed money now but they can also get to that 2nd contract sooner. Which is mega cash. Guy with Chuma’s skill could actually benefit from that. Not that I’m advocating he leave just saying wouldn’t blame him at all.

Yeah I knew it was changing but when reading up today was a bit shocked by how much it has changed. I remember when I lived in Dallas keeping tabs on 2nd round guys that the Mavs and others had taken and the odds for those guys looked bleak as hell. Teams would rather just draft someone else the next season or trade for another bench guy and move on than give you any time to develop. That's not the case anymore

My mother called me last night and asked if I thought Sweet Baby Jared was going to get drafted (she has been watching basketball for a total of 4 weeks now). I said, "I hope so" and she said "but he might come back if he isn't." Without thinking I said, "Yeah but I just love these guys and what they have done for Auburn." She said something along the lines of "that doesn't sound like you." I realized that I am in a new place as a fan that I have never been before. I've always wanted what was best for boog players, but I have allowed myself to selfishly want a guy to come back or convince myself that coming back was the best choice (even when maybe it wasn't). If Jared comes back I will be selfishly happy, but I am in a place where I just want him to prove everybody wrong again. Like I don't even care if he still goes without getting a combine invite and makes it by going through the G-League, just really want him to make it. Just an odd place mentally for me and thought I would share with my safespace The Greg.

it’s an added benefit of the BRUCE Effect... we want the best for the guys who worked their asses off to build this foundation - and we don’t need to selfishly hold onto them because we trust that capable replacements will always be on deck

Chuma and Jared and Bryce and Horace and Malik and Wun Wun will always be our firsts - but they won’t be our lasts... and that’s a place we’re just not used to being with Auburn sports

it’s, dare I say, a healthy fan relationship

Not the heroes we wanted........the heroes we needed.

- Bruce. You are absolutely correct that having real, deep faith in the guy running the program just allows you to feel good about how he'll replace kids. You realize a possible rebuild won't lead to a 4 year slide. Maybe we aren't a 3 seed or better next year. Maybe we struggle...but Bruce will have us back there in short order. Its Saul Good Man.

- Growing TRULY attached to the kids, not fan obsessed but actually attached to them and hopeful for their future....well that makes you more likely to want to see them reach their dreams. It won't be just the goals they reach at AU that make you smile. When Chuma is winning his first ring in the NBA and holds that Larry O'Brien Trophy I'm gonna cry a little.

- You grow up and you realize these guys are people and you don't own them. They don't owe you another season. You just start to appreciate the guys that are great and you are happy you got to see them in Orange & Blue. This has been a progression for me that's lasted 10 years probably. I've gradually come to respect them as individuals and whatever their choices are I don't have any ill will towards them for it. It's why I get so damn defensive with other boards spend time bashing SBJ's chances or ridiculing his decision to declare.

Amen

Dang. That injury sucked on so many levels. Should have carried us to the Natty and been off to the NBA as a lotto pick.

Honestly if it was me I’d still probably go. Checking the 2nd rd contracts pretty much all the top 50 got around a 3 yr/ $4M deal with 2 years guaranteed. That’s about $2.6M min. Figure that goes up a little this year. That’s real money folks.

It’s certainly not a clear cut call, but there is a massive difference in the money where he’s projected now and mid first round. 37th got 3.9 mil last year over 4 years. 15th signed for $16 mil+.

So the deadline is tonight? Guessing that means Austin is definitely back unless he declares in 8 hours

So Austin didn’t declare. Guess he’s coming back. Wonder if Bruce convinced him that’d he’d be more of a focal point in the offense with SBJ and Bryce gone. And with Chuma possibly gone for good too.
