OT: 2020-2021 Boog Hoops

Can't wait for Bruce and Co to hand Penny their asses.
Memphis is going to be terrible next year. That will be a nice opportunity to beat the shit out of a name program on national TV.

if develops some legit ball handling ability then he could explode next season. Wish we could take the best of young flanny and the best of D Cam and mold them into one player

I could see Bruce developing both those guys into complete players though. Of course, not sure how Covid affects his ability to do that.

they're reporting to campus in early june. So I expect bball won't be affected too much by loss of summer practice. Whereas football is definitely gonna be sloppy this season. Assuming they start on time

I can rarely see Instagram photos on here, always gives me:

{"message": "Please wait a few minutes before you try again.", "status": "fail"}

Is this because I don’t have an Instagram or because I’m an idiot

what browser do you use? you should be able to see them without having an account

tempering my hype on him. He was pretty bad with the ball in his hands last year. Turnover waiting to happen and def couldn't create on his own. Whether it be by passes or off the dribble. But he's definitely always gonna be fun to watch

he’s a 4 year version of Malik... give me 1 of those every other year so there’s always 2 wildcards on the roster getting wing minutes - 1 older guy who has developed and matured and 1 young guy to mold - and I’m a happy boy

plus I sometimes forget he reclassified, so I couldn’t be happier with what he was able to show last year... and a bigger leap this season than we’re expecting isn’t out of the realm of possibilities considering how young he is

I’d still take a grad transfer combo guard just to be safe, but Turbo and Devan have the talent to hold down the 2 spot next year... it’s just nowhere close to a given that 1 or both will be ready to carry enough of the load

yeah. Gonna be interesting to see if he starts over Alan. D Cam more explosive and better 3pt shooter, but Flanny is the better defender, ball handler (for now) and driving to the rim and finishing (for now).

I think DCam will be a 2/3 and Flanny a 3/4. They could both start, but I don't know how likely that is.

the rotation will be interesting. Got a lot of dudes that are kind of the same size that can (theoretically) play multiple positions.

Been hoping we’d find a way to add an elite stud at 2 or 3 then D Cam/ Al could just split up the rest of the mins. I’ve mentioned J Will the phenom playing 3,4 or 5. Could maybe say the same for Thor. The sharp shooting chalk could go 2 or 3. Moore could prob play 3 or 4. So many possibilities but another stud on the wing would really bring it all together.

Yeah, Bruce praising Moore's defense makes me think he'll get some minutes in a few different places. There's always Javon Franklin too. No idea what he's gonna do. But it's possible that a year int he dungeon could have him ready to explode

Alright gentlemen. I think it’s fair to say our roster is set. Let’s talk about the squad.

expectations overall and for conference play?

Leading scorer, rebounder, assists?

Does Bruce continue to be a father figure to Rick Barnes?

Will one of the HYG’s come out of nowhere and become a lottery pick a la OKORO?

Let’s hear it. Add rotation guesses if you want

My answers:
21-10 (11-7)
Jaylin, jaylin, RIFE
Rick Barnes will still look up to Bruce
No one leaves early for the NBA, add a natty in 2020-2021

Hard to say bc even though Jay magic is a total stud, it's possible that JT Thor starts over him. IDK. Or one of them plays the 3. Just a lot questions going into this season. I'll take Rife being the leading scorer and assist guy. No idea about rebounds. But I'll play it safe and say Stretch. I don't know though. Only safe bet out there is Rife will be leading assit man imo

Sharife / Turbo / Powell
Turbo / Cambridge / Powell / Jamal
Flanny / Thor / Cambridge
J Will / Thor / Moore / Franklin
Stretch / Cardwell / J Will?

not a ton of reliable, guaranteed offense there at first glance - and COVID has undoubtedly hampered dungeon time with Steven... but it’s an embarrassment of riches in the handsome department

and we’ll be able to play a lineup of Sharife / Turbo / Thor / J Will together and have 4 guys with the ability to create a shot for someone else... we won’t have guys we throw the ball to in the half court and let them go get a bucket - but we’ll create more easy buckets than we were able to last year with multiple guys able to break down a defense, which will help make up for the lack of a go to guy, plus our usual overwhelming handsomeness will shine in transition with the way our bigs can run

record wise? too early for me to care... no one in the SEC worries me and assuming BRUCE’s usual genius continues no one will want to see us in March

So many studs. So many possibilities. My fav lineup in my mind right now would be:

Sharife
Devan
Jaylin
Thor
Stretch

Rife just throwing lobs in the general direction of the goal and everyone taking turns throwing it down. I’m all aboard the Devan train after that 30 second clip of him at the Y surfaced. Of course Jaylin is magnificent and Thor looks too good to bring off the bench. Ungodly length and athleticism with enough range and playmaking ability.

Then again I love everything about Turbo, Al, Moore and the sharp shootin honkey mixing in too. Caldwell‘s gangly ass throwing bows. Wouldn’t hurt my feelings to see the JUCO mixtape version of Franklin fill the small ball 5 role if not Jaylin can pull triple duty at the 3,4,5. Jamal handing out gatorades with the walk ons can’t wait.
