Braves bring home Bryan McCann and sign Josh Donaldson to a 1 yr deal that brings more pop to the line up and allows Camargo to be the bench piece that they haven't had since Martin Prado. Will be great if they can continue to give him several starts in the infield and the occasional one in the outfield. like the spending so far, now looking for a few bullpen pieces, another good bench piece or two and maybe a outfielder and trade for a front end starter. #BruceEffect

I'm sorry but I'm going to have to ask that you in no way tie Bruce to your trash baseball organization.

If Donaldson repeats his 2018 season for the barves in 2019, that would come out to 2.875 million per home run. Sounds like an Auburn contract for sure.
Hope he is healthy this year and he will be playing for a longer contract. So, this could work out for the Braves if he goes out and shows out.

The seasons don't even overlap. Why not save both programs?

I like Donaldson, even if he’s got worse hair than Tate. I just think it’s a dumb contract. If he comes back to MVP JD then you did a good days work.

how is it a dumb contract? 1 year 23M for a live bat and + defender who should be at least a +3 WAR guy. He's in a contract year and has every bit of motivation to play hard, If he sucks he's not around next year. just don't see how this is bad. they spent money for one year and still have all their prospects to trade for other needs.

I mean..you’re just wrong. If Donaldson puts up what he did last year he Weill still be like a 2.0 WAR player and most agree he will be fine. He isn’t playing on turf and he even said playing on real grass and dirt helps.

Okay. Sure not going waste any energy arguing with genius barves fans. I'm sure it's a great deal for you guys. Congrats. Just FTR, when did he play on grass and have success?

It’s not genius Braves fans opinions but genius baseball writers that have said it.
And when he played with Cleveland?...and that point wasn’t about success but how he said he felt compared to turf in Toronto and Tampa.

Gotcha. Genius baseball writers are saying it. Who are your fave geniuses that agree with you?

He had 50 ab’s With the Indians but okay. Was hoping you’d at least say Oaktown.

Just read one of the 50 articles the last few days or watch mlb network.....
And, again, why would I talk about when he was in Oakland when the point was how he felt playing on grass AFTER his injuries...

I wasn’t questioning what was said. I was questioning which baseball writers you thought were geniuses.

50 AB’s is about 10-12 games but I’m glad he felt that much differnce in the two weeks he played there.

I’m not saying it’s not a risk but if you actually watched him you could tel he looked healthy. And his numbers were pretty dang good in that small window.
But even if he fails you have camargo to go back to and Austin Riley that could come up. He’s an MVP caliber player so it is a good risk to take for 1 year. And 23 mil seems like a lot but it’s really not with the revenue coming in from the battery. No one really knows how much money they have to spend and AA has been secret about it so this move tells me there is money there.

He’s almost 21% of their projected payroll. Maybe 31% of what’s signed now? That’s a lot of risk. I think the 23 would’ve been better spent on shoring up the bench and bullpen. That’s where you looked weak compared to teams that advanced in the playoffs IMO. As I said above, IF he’s back to MVP type then it’s a great deal.

Last I checked winter meetings haven’t started so there is plenty of time to fill those needs. Plus, the bench got a ton better with camargo being a utility guy now so that’s another reason the signing was a good move.
We will she’d Julio’s contract so we will have more money. We will just disagree it’s “a lot” of risk since it’s a very high probability he will be like he was.

And the biggest move of the season..Joe Simpson will be on radio mostly while Frenchy will take over for games on TV
