I’ve looked under the RANDOM thread, but thought this subject should have it’s own thread. A forum for the great minds of the Greg to come to a conclusion & send to the NC2A since it’s been dominating the recent sports news cycle. My thoughts are I would hate for one of our HYGS to come & give his all to us with nothing to show for it after laboring for the athletic fat cat department. I know it would have to be limited & I have no idea how it can be done as of yet. My point is that a child comes to Boogville or anywhere else, thinking they are going to the league. Then the university gives them a worthless degree to keep them eligible & later turns them out on the street. If anybody here has access to BRUCE, surely he could put this to rest in short order.
DISCLAIMER: Of course I know this won’t affect the HYGS going forward cause they gonna get theirs

Not sure what it means but anything that irks the shit out of the NCAA I’m all for. It’s gotten obscene what college huthut and hoops corches make should def be giving more to the players.

As long as we don’t get to the point where guys sit during the off-season or start of season to get better compensation packages then I’m cool.

My opinion is that if this becomes the way, it will absolutely ruin college sports. Yes I am one of those idiots who say they already get plenty of compensation as it is. Shit rustles me to the max.

Maybe they were being fairly compensated when a college degree was still worth a shit, but this is no longer the case. Especially for the regular dudes who aren’t able to juggle what amounts to a full time job and get an engineering degree or something that’s actually valuable

My Dad, as you might imagine was full old school. He saw Stacy Danley & his girlfriend at a restaurant one night, and had the waitress bring Stacy’s bill to him. Stacy promptly walked over to my Dad, smiled, shook his and & told my folks that he was under contract with Auburn University. Dad never got over that & quit going to the Tiger Walk because he couldn’t stand seeing those guys in their rag tag suits & ties. I’m sure it tickled him somewhere when Stacy became the AD at South Carolina State.

Counter argument - a college degree costs like 250K whether it is worth a shit or not and you can’t get a job without one. I actually agree with what Cole Cubelic said, which was basically that every penny he has made case from playing at AU. He got a medical sales job he shouldn't have gotten because he played at AU, he got on the radio because he played at AU, etc....

I also work with a guy who coached a kid who went to bama. Kid told him he eats steak, shrimp or lobster every night for free at the facility. Got all the clothes he could possibly ever need. He gets 1600/month as a "cost of attendance" allowance. Everyone thought the boosters bought him a car, but he was actually using 800 of that allowance on a car payment. Still had 800 a month for whatever he wanted to buy.

If you want to argue that its not fair that coaches and schools are making millions that is fine. But don't fall for the "kids don't have enough money to buy a pizza" business that is out there right now. The game has changed even in the last 10 years.
