Not sure what to do with my time or my thoughts but it feels good to not feel like you have to put on a show for people.

one of the most interesting things I've heard about the rise of social media and especially facebook, is that it hasn't made society worse, it's just held a mirror up to it.Me to my kids someday:
"Son, back when I first started using Facebook all you could do was upload a picture, a bio, and send people direct messages. And then they came out with the "Status Update". And then people became insufferable"

So, facebook didn't CHANGE us, it just showed us who we really were. Self obsessed, moronic, liars who have really strong opinions about a bunch of shit we don't have any education on. I think, for right now, facebook means way too much in terms of social status, like if you have a cool facebook you're "cool" with like pictures with friends and headshots and witty statuses. Or I could just not worry about that shit and not have one and have some privacy and not try that hard and when people meet me instead of looking me up they have to actually talk to me and there's some mystery there. idk.
yeah a lot of people just like grandstanding or pretending like they are the "light in the darkness" for everyone who knows them.
this was part of my friend's wife's status to the world today. Made me want to scream for a couple of reasons.
Don't forget the pics of what's for dinner. SighI don't run in circles of people who do witty things on Facebook anymore. I'd say my feed broke down like this:
25% Political Culture War Fake News
45% Kids pictures
10% Dumb rants about how the person at ____ isn't as smart as me
20% "I went to this place" selfies
hahahaGot off Facebook around 6 years ago because all my old hoes keeping hitting me up. It got old.
RIP BLAZER BOARDHaven’t had any account for about two years. Did create a UAB Twitter account though before The Man shut us down
It still in my heart!RIP BLAZER BOARD
IT WAS GLORIOUS
Just looking for child support I'm sure.Got off Facebook around 6 years ago because all my old hoes keeping hitting me up. It got old.

just gotta wonder how well they would do if they lived yours and you have your answer hahaI think this is somewhat true, but the mirror didn't have the impact it should have had. We should have looked at it and all tried to figure out how to fix what was wrong with us as a society. Instead we seemed to just double down on all the terrible parts of humanity.
I think the other part that is problematic is that it's allowed us to compare ourselves to everyone more deeply than ever before. From FB to Instagram to LinkedIn, it's all damn contest and I can see how if you were struggling with career or family or both you'd get depressed fast looking at everyone you grew up with telling you how great their lives are.
