Don’t. Fuggin. Do. It.
I mean, I enjoy doing it, but every time I start to do something I find 100 other problems that need to be addressed before I can make any progress. It’s not even that it costs a whole lot more than I expected. It’s just super time consuming. Especially since I’m literally doing every last bit right by myself.Did it. Enjoyed it, but my wife hated it.

I ain’t contracting shit. Doing it 95% on my own. The only thing I haven’t done is the new roof and AC unit. It feels good to re-sharpen skills like plumbing and electrical work, but literally all I do is come home from work and work even harder for 4-5 hours before I go to bed and get ready to do it again.I contracted most of it out. My dad was a home builder. Our issue was not any of the work we did, but there was just always something going wrong because it was an older house.

Yeah, probably, but I can do a hell of a lot more with my budget if I’m not spending half of it on labor. This is why you're miserable.

My brother and I started a construction company about 18 years ago when I first graduated high school. He still doing it but I got bored with it and moved on to other things. Anyway, we did a few reno’s. After the first one, we approached every one as if we were going to completely rebuild the house from the foundation up. Mentally speaking of course. Never tell the home owner that if you want to stay in business.I mean, I enjoy doing it, but every time I start to do something I find 100 other problems that need to be addressed before I can make any progress.
