Nice to hear from a good source that Austin isn't involved. Doesn't necessarily mean it's 100% true, but that's way better than nothing. Will definitly miss Danjela and Mustapha for however long they're out.
It makes sense to me that Austin wouldn't be involved for no other reason than I think his mom has been around the basketball scene long enough to not fall for CP's bullshit. Plus I'm not so sure CP would have tried to rip her off.
Yep. And the Wileys don't seem like they would be hurting financially so bad as to risk dragging their child's name through the mud for a paltry 11k...
Best case scenario at this point is that Danjel and EJ Montgomery (has been speculated in boogville) were the ones involved and Bruce had no knowledge. I can live with the repercussions here as long as the NCAA doesn't find anything else and Chuck keeps his damn mouth shut.
So there's a chance that Mustapha wasn't involved either? Oh my heavens. Things could really be looking up
I mean, I'll believe it when I see it, but some folks over in boogville are making some compelling arguments that one or neither are involved. Likely just boogs being naive, but I'm choosing to believe whatever spins this in the most positive light at this point.
I thought one of the "AU" players got ruled out when the Sexton revelations came out? I thought it was said that he was the player coming in with 1.5 to play. I know that I read that somewhere.
Yeah that seems to point directly to Austin, but the same player is referenced as having a stepdad which Austin doesn't have. According to what is being posted in boogville, anyway. I haven't really read everything and am just going on what's being posted over there.
I think it's pretty clear that DANJEL is Player-1.
As for Player-2, I still think it's Austin. It can't be EJ Montgomery, because he wasn't a player on the team. I would think that even in a stupid, fake scheme the only 3 players worth shopping would have been Danjel, Austin, and Mustapha. The details in the complaint make Player-2 and Mother-2 sound a lot more like Austin than Mustapha IMO... but I obviously don't know for sure.
If we keep Mustapha, we will still be competitive this season. Austin is a damn good playa and Danjel has tons of potential, but if we have to lose 2 of those 3, I'll keep MUSTAPHA for sure...

Yeah, I thought I read something where chuck was on record talking about kid that was "the number 9 prospect int he country" and "enrolling in January" and would be at auburn for "1 and a half seasons." Sounded like Austin to me. Maybe he was talking about EJ. I always thought it was weird if Austin's family took money though. Everything I've read and heard about them indicated that they had his future well thought out and mapped. Just seems like they wouldn't even attempt to jeopardize that for 9k.
Also there was talk about a meeting with a current player on Dec 12 in New York and Austin didn't sign until Dec 16 and he wasn't in New York.
Step-Dad was referenced with Player-1. Player-1 was also on the team when we travelled to NYC. That is why Player-1 is most likely Danjel. The complaint also says that Chuck met with Player-1's mom weekly. That would be pretty tough if Player-1 is Mustapha, considering his mom is in Connecticut.
Yeah, like I said, I haven't really delved into it too much. Just going on what @jhead and others have stated. Probably just wishful thinking on my part.
There are a lot of references to AUSTIN in the complaint. But, when Chuck is making those references, the complaint never says that the references are for "Player-2." Even though Austin is clearly being talked about, it's not a guarantee that he did anything. Could've just been Chuck talking up the talent he's bringing in, in order to get more cash. Just because Chuck was bragging on Austin doesn;t mean Austin participated in the scheme.
I do think Player-2 is Austin, but it's not 100%
Would suck for depth, and I had high hopes for Danjel this year, but it won't be killer if he's ineligible. Feel bad for him though because if you're not super well to do family, then it's hard to turn down 10k

He’s not on track to graduate early now - but it’s becoming a growing trend, and he was ranked top 10 on some services this time last year... it was definitely discussed as a possibility at some point - albeit a remote one...
it also makes more sense that he would be involved than Austin - knowing little about Montgomery - but knowing what we know about Austin...

Montgomery’s mom being involved could easily be explained by the fact his sister was already at Auburn, so the parents would have just as much reason to be in Auburn and around Chuck as Vickie would...

Montgomery wasn't on the team yet. It clearly states Mother-2 and PLAYER-2 went to Chuck's house. It was a Player on the team, not a croot, unless the complaint is just referring to all potential playas as Player-X...
I am gonna stick with it being Austin and Danjel, although I do wonder what the hell Austin's parents were thinking if it truly is him.

He definitely was - I just don’t know how that part was phrased... in the BAMA Online article I read it never mentioned Player X... it was phrased as “the father of an incoming freshman”... what I was getting at is - Sexton may have never been directly referenced, just his dad... I haven’t had time to go back through and look at the NCAA docs yet
In the Chuck complaint, they reference "Father-1" in the meeting at the restaurant in ATL but never refer to the recruit as "Player-X." They just say: "the father of a highly regarded incoming freshman basketball player at Staff Member-1's university."
