Dukes--this made me really feel so good for the Blazer Family, many of us love.
I just copied what I thought was important but can try the link later.
Just thought this was so very classy of our "other" coach and team. I had such a good time with my Blazer Brothers and Sisters, and wanted to share this.

Papa Bear is emotional and says great job Blazers!!
We love you!

It’s a shame that UAB Football had to go away for as long as it did, because it is doing some pretty noteworthy things now.

For example, UAB announced on Monday that players would be wearing the names of Children’s Harbor patients on the back of their jerseys for the Blazers’ upcoming game against Louisiana Tech.

Children’s Harbor serves seriously ill children and their families through unique, no-cost services at the Family Center inside the Benjamin Russell Hospital for Children in Birmingham, according to a press release from UAB.

The goal is to honor and memorialize the children and their families, the release stated.

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. -- When UAB hosts Louisiana Tech on Oct. 7, players will forgo wearing their names on the back of their jerseys in favor of patients at a local children's hospital.

The move is meant to honor the children and their families served by Children's Harbor.

Children's Harbor, which is located one block from UAB's campus in downtown Birmingham, helps seriously ill patients and their families during and after hospitalization. It was adopted by the football team as one of their community charities last year.

During the game, which coincides with UAB's Homecoming, a section of Legion Field will be filled with Children's Harbor families. One hundred game jerseys will be given to patients and their families after the game.

"Children's Harbor has absolutely become a part of the Blazer family," said UAB coach Bill Clark in a news release. "I intend for this relationship to grow with our program. As we build, there will be even more we can do to provide encouragement and a positive distraction to support the terrific work Children's Harbor does."

Said Children's Harbor CEO Myrle Grate: "The joy and enthusiasm that Coach Clark and the UAB players bring to the Children's Harbor families is palpable and brings a level of healing that is truly beyond our ability alone."

That's really cool. Isn't there a school that just purposely built their new stadium in such a way that the children's ward over looks the field. Or maybe they built the new hospital and designed the children's ward to overlook the field. Either way, I don't think my new found fatherly emotions could find anything more awesome than that in the sports world. Let me see if I can go and find a useful link somewhere.

Yeah, they have the fans all turn and wave to the kids at some point during the game. Pretty cool.

Very cool what UAB is doing as well. #BlazeON

I will be there. Great job by our Blazers.

As far as the game, I'm worried about this one. Blazers defense has been pretty bad and offense pretty good, which is the opposite of what I anticipated. LaTech looks to be pretty good based on beating WKU and almost beating SC, so this one could be ugly
