OT - Random talk about movies

Let’s just have soldier with ptsd kill a kid and cover it up is such a weird subplot to an action packed movie

I barely even thought about it but I definitely didn't have the same feelings you did. I didn't think the soldier was a murderer, I don't think the dad is a murderer. I think all of the events were necessary to tell the story of normal people getting off their butts to help the cause, and as was the case throughout the whole movie, people acted in self-interest and dangerous toward their allies.

The kid got on board the boat to go on an adventure, like a lot of the soldiers did at the beginning of the war. The soldier who hit him had seen the war and it had changed him. The soldier hitting the kid showed how dangerous the mission was for the kid, who had mentioned he always wanted to be a hero. The soldier realized afterward that the war had changed him for the worse.

It was a bit clumsy but I was not confused by it at all. If that were my son I'd be upset but if the man turns the boat around when he sees the kid onboard, his boat would have been commandeered by the Navy, and would have never been in the exact perfect place at the exact time to save a lot of crucial soldiers lives along the way.

Obviously there wasn't time in the story to have a full court-martial of the soldier in the aftermath.

You asked "thoughts?" and I remembered the line about it basically being for Oprah.

I agree with the train of thought of the people who made the movie on that one. Didn't seem like much of a hole.

No worries. I just think a TV sitcom star (remember, her series doesn't get cancelled until she is on vacation) and a world famous/top musician make a lot more money than you think they do.

And then I don't think its anything for a celebrity to spend $50K on a vacation. You do.

Again, no worries.

Tried to find a recently canceled show salary range, but this was the closest I could come up with.

10. Brian Geraghty
Estimated Net Worth: $1 Million. Fans of Chicago P.D. know Brian Geraghty as officer Sean Roman who was added to the main cast in season two. Geraghty got his start in acting back in 1999 when he appeared on shows such as Law & Order and The Sopranos, but he didn’t get his big break until appearing in the film Jarhead as Fergus O’Donnell. He went on to appear in many more films including The Guardian, When a Stranger Calls, We Are Marshall, The Hurt Locker, and Flight, just to name a few. Geraghty then returned to TV with roles in shows such as True Blood, Boardwalk Empire and Ray Donovanbefore starting on Chicago Fire which of course led to Chicago P.D.With 47 acting credits to his name, he now has an estimated net worth of $1 million.

9. LaRoyce Hawkins
Estimated Net Worth: $400 Thousand. LaRoyce began acting in theater productions, but then moved into on-screen roles with his breakout film role as Art Baker in 2008’s The Express. He then only had a few TV roles before appearing as Detective Kevin Atwater on Chicago Fire, and is now one of the stars as Chicago P.D. With only 11 roles to his name, Hawkins estimated net worth remains low by Hollywood standards at $400 thousand.

This was one of those click baity things where you had to go to the next page, so I didn't get any further. Don't think everyone on TV makes as much as you think they do.

She was the lead female on that show, but we can guess what is probably low on pay per episode of $50K per. Assume 20 episodes a season, so $1M per season.

But if it was one of the top shows on cable, you are talking up to a potential $500K to a $1M per epsiode

I forgot to mention that I recently went to see “Hostiles” with Christian Bale. And my lord that was a giant piece of crap

The movie with the Indians? It looked good but I haven't seen it. What made it crap?
It was just way overly bloated and too predictable. It was like they also tried to cram a bunch of scenes in there that they thought would be cool but they didn't actually work within the constructs of the plot so it just seemed out of place. There were a bunch of attempts to dramatize the horrors and rigors and lawlessness of the old west but there was no build up to any of it so the pay off was so weak. The only character that gets any development is Christian Bale's. Every other character is so one dimensional and uninteresting and are just used to hamfistedly inject another theme into the movie. It was just a dumb movie, and I'd imagine that the only reason it got made was because Christian Bale wanted to play a cowboy

Fairfield35064's Top of the Head list of underrated movies:
-Quick Change (Bill Murray, Randy Quaid, Geena Davis)
-Foul Play (Chevy Chase when he was funny, Goldie Hawn)
-Seems Like Old Times (Chevy Chase when he was funny, Goldie Hawn, Charles Grodin)
-Night Shift (Henry Winkler, Michael "The Best Batman" Keaton)

Just saw a few movies lately:

Annihilation
The Florida Project
Death of Stalin

Enjoyed them all for what they were. The Florida Project was really good, if you're in to movies about trashy people living on the fringes of society. Death of Stalin was pretty funny, I recommend if you like dark comedy.

Just finished watching A Quiet Place.

Really enjoyed it. I think Emily Blunt should be up for Oscar considerations. She is really great in it.

Very cool movie.

saw ant man and the wasp this past weekend. Was a total meh. I like most all the MCU movies but this one was definitely on the lower tier for sure.

Sequel to Creed is suppose to be him vs the Russian's son
Seriously Creed was a great flick. But maybe they should just chill and leave well enough alone and stopped with Creed. We've seen so many movie franchises run in to the ground with sequels. The Halloween- Nightmare on Elm St- Friday 13th- The Rocky movies- Blade- Major League and the Fast & Furious movies all should have stopped way before their last installments. Rocky was a weird one because Im glad the decided to keep going after three because I really liked Rocky IV but Rocky lll almost killed the franchise. Rocky 5 did kill it but they had to take another L with that awful Rocky Balboa flick. Even though they are linked, to me Creed stands on its own from the Rocky movies. Kinda like the 69 Camaro SS and 69 Chevelle are linked by Chevrolet DNA but both stand apart from each other.

Damn. The director of the Guardians of the Galaxy franchise got fired today because of some tweets he made 10 years ago.

People getting fired over tweets is just stupid imo. Gotta be something more to it. Like he was pissing some executives off, acting like he was irreplacable hot shit, and they were sorta happy to can him

Social Media is like playing with fire. Nothing good can come from it.

yeah. I just hink there's more to this story that we'll probably never know. He even publicly apologized for the tweets 6 years ago before he was hired to direct the first GOTG. So it's not like he hid anything from Disney nor were they unaware of his unsavory jokes when they hired him. Reports are that he's kinda an asshole, so maybe some of the actors wanted him out and these tweets resurfacing gave disney a reason to can him

Just rewatched Armageddon for like the 50th time. Gets better each time I watch it. Cranks up the surround and the first round of asteroids hit; on the 82 inch. Good times.

I enjoyed it, but I’m not a huge Marvel movie fan. I just take them at surface level and can enjoy most of them. The Ant Man ones do have a parody feel to them at time, so I can see why people wouldn’t like them but I kind of enjoy that
