What is the reason for Auburn being left out of this competitive challenge?

It’s a two year deal and this year is the second year of this selection of teams. We weren’t selected last year because we sucked the year/decades prior. If we have another good showing this year, we’ll be in when they select teams next year for the next two year rotation.
