We run the table in regular season, beating both bama and UGA. Gus gets 10 more years. UGA beats us in SECCG. 11-1 SEC Champ UGA and 11-1 bama get into playoff, while we get stuck in some irrelevant bowl game.

This is just reality in boogvilleThe real nightmare scenario, is because of all of this crap going on in the AD, Gus goes 9-3, but loses to UGA and Bama, and is still safe.

Yeah. Unlikely, but if Uga and Bama are both undefeated going into the sec title game, then it could happenHighly unlikely any conference getting two team in the CFP
Prior to the AD mess, in this scenario, he was gone. No clue now.

While I don't think this happens, if we run the table do you really see bama getting left out?

Maybe, but an 11-1 Bama will trump a lot of teamsThere are more likely scenarios for them getting left out in this hypothetical than there are them getting in, IMO.

They won't trump an undefeated team. That's probably itThey would not trump an undefeated or one loss Big 10 champ of PSU/UM/OSU (wouldn't trump an undefeated Wisconsin team but maybe a one loss Wisconsin team)
Would not trump Clemson as ACC champ
Would not trump an undefeated Oklahoma or TCU Big XII champ. Probably wouldn't trump a one loss of those three considering they have the best Conference Title game set up (no divisions, just #1 vs #2)
Would not trump an undefeated Pac 12 champ.
The biggest issue Bama would face is their strength of schedule (lack of wins over quality opponents). With FSU being way down, the SEC being down, and their East opponents not being any good, them losing to Auburn would leave them hurting.
But what if UGA were to run the table in the regular season, but we beat Bama and then UGA in a rematch? That would make things really interesting.
They won't trump an undefeated team. That's probably it
Yes, a loss Bama team gets in over anyone that’s not undefeated. That’s just how it isYou can throw all logic out the window. BAMA would find a way to get in with 1 loss.
If AU loses to UGA then wins out for SEC, could see them easily picking Bama. The wouldn't trump:
A one loss Clemson as ACC Champ.
A one loss PSU/UM/OSU as Big XII champ
A one loss Oklahoma as Big XII champ. Would be interesting if a one loss TCU/Okla St champ, but I think Bama still gets left out. Best shot would be to get in over a one loss Okla St.
I agree that Bama would get in over a one loss Pac 12 champ.
Bu what about in the scenario I laid out. Would they get in over a 2 loss Auburn SEC champ (losses to Clemson and UGA, but wins over UGA/Bama) or a one loss UGA team?

A 12-1 UGA who beats AU in SEC champ would go over an 11-1 Bama.
They just have history on their side and usually get the benefit of the doubt. Same reason Penn State got screwed last year.
I'm not saying I agree with what I think will happen, just that I think it would.
Whatever you say. They haven't been overruled yet in 10 years, and don't see it happening any time soonPenn St got screwed last year because they lost to UM (blown out) and Pitt. OSU had wins at UW/Oklahoma and UM at home.
Like I said, this year, Bama's schedule does them zero favors this year. Them losing to Auburn and missing out at the SECCG would leave them with likely zero wins over ranked teams at the end of the regular season, with maybe just a couple even getting votes in the polls.
I think an 11-2 Auburn team as SEC Champ would get in over a one loss Bama because of this.
Whatever you say. They haven't been overruled yet in 10 years, and don't see it happening any time soon
A lot.Side note to this, but how much lobbying do you think the sponsors and ESPN do to the committee behind the scenes? Bc last year kind of had a whiff of foul play

I do.
Not a chance based on what the committee has said in the past. They have claimed to be going for the "best 4 teams." Gonna be impossible to keep out a 1 loss bama team who's only loss is on the road to another playoff team.
A snowball has a chance of surviving in Hell as well. There would definitely be a chance Bama would be left out based on the scenarios I have laid out in this thread.

Naw man, there's a chance. Not sure it does.
Even worse what happened in 78 & 79. We tie UGA and put the #2 bammers in the Sugar Bowl to play #1 Penn State. If UGA beats us, they tie for the SEC and get to go to the Sugar because the bammers went the year before (that's how they did it then). We also beat the crap out of the dogs in 79, to again put the bammers in the Sugar. uga went 6-5, but 5-1 in conference. Can't remember the specifics that year & I'm ready to head home.
