Six days away so gives us plenty of time to become nice and hard in anticipation. Boogs coming off a scrappy win to an inferior squad, and in comes another cupcake into the clam, but I got a feeling the HYGs won't be so dismissive after escaping Furman on Thursday.

In walks St Louis. Like always, got no idea if these scrubs are good or bad. But clearly know they're inferior to our beloved HYGs that's just a god damn certainty in life. Looking to get Austin more involved. Just feed that hulkster the ball please. And for the love of god, let's get back on track with our normal 3pt% in the clam. Last week was a disaster. Looking at you Sweet Sensitive Danjel.

Nerds have the HYGs as the heavy favorites. And I expect no less than a double didgy victory.

First game of the season I’m going to miss since I’ll be in the happiest place on earth. Will probably watch the replay after we get home that night.

Isn't this game at the BJCC?

Ah gatdamn just noticed the game is at some weirdo time on Saturday afternoon may run into a family obligation. Expect the boogs to make this one not too interesting though.

Just heard over the waves that this is the Boogs toughest game to date according to computer rankings or whatever. BRUCE was on as well this morning & he already has that March voice going for him (thanks Furman). He went from praising everything we love to promoting UAB's medical branch as one of the greatest in our country. Started pushing everyone to get cancer screenings (I guess he CAN'T cure it?) & the convo ended more about saving the free world more than anything else.

I'm still getting a feel for what he can be this season. The assist to turnover ratio is great. The total number of assists is very good. I'm not super convinced that he's doing some kind of true floor general stuff but those raw numbers are good and outside of a few rough starts to games the turnovers have been very low. He mostly keeps things moving and is smart with the ball. I'd like to see more of the penetration he did in the last 2 minutes or so against Furman, where he was getting wherever he wanted. That's him at his best IMO.

However, his shooting %'s are terrifying as the 3pt and FT numbers are below 30% and his drives are only bringing his overall shooting % up to around 35%. That just won't work across the season and ESPECIALLY in tournament action. Your PG can't be a liability shooting the ball from the field or from the stripe. Teams will do more to exploit it as the season goes on so he's got to clean it up. Doesn't need to be great, but just solid enough teams can't plan to use it against us. Something like 33% from 3 and 65% from the charity stripe are enough to at least make the gamble a borderline bet instead of a sure thing.

I do think all of this is possible. Some of his 3's have come when forced to shoot late in the clock because we got scrambled. If teams zone us, and I'm sure that's coming from quite a few people shortly as we've barely seen any of it to this point, he is likely to get some very clean looks as we move the ball and use Okoro in the high post again. He can knock those kind of looks down. As his looks get better I'd bet on that % improving. I think the FT thing is both small sample size and he's got in his own head, so that can be remedied as well. Not sure he will fix it all but he can and I hope he does.

he was shaky in the half court the first couple of games but has really settled in and is doing a great job running the half court offense... I agree with you on the shooting numbers, but anything we get from him from 3 is a bonus at this point... I just want him to start finishing better - which he did amazingly well last Feb/March

outside of that - the biggest thing he needs to improve isn’t showing up in his numbers... for all the talk about him being more pass-first than Jared and all the assist numbers and turnover ratio, he’s doing a below average job of pushing the ball in transition and getting us good, early looks

it’s the main reason our 3 point percentage is down... well, losing Bryce is the main reason - but we’re getting far, far, far, far fewer open looks in transition than we’ve gotten the last 2 years... and they’re there - he’s just not seeing them or not hunting them... it was awful against Furman... Samir, Jamal, Danjel would be running through floor, flaring out to a wing - and last year that was SBJ tearing up court, drawing the defense, and a wide open Bryce jumper

this year, it’s a hesitant JVon coming up court about 75-80% speed, diagnosing things, and ultimately settling into the halfcourt offense - which, again, he’s done a great job of running... but I’d love to see him apply more pressure in transition - drive it as deep as he can as quickly as he can and force the defense to protect the rim in transition and loosen up some looks for our wings

we’re really nitpicking here, but that’s where we’re at right now, and stealing a bucket or two a half from better transition looks will come in handy as we get into conference play

agree on the hesitant vs speed thing. He's lightning quick. We need him to make more of that and not keep it in reserve so much. Hit those jets and go.

I think he’ll continue to get more aggressive as the season progresses and he loosens up a bit... he’s done a great job of playing the point guard role and trying to be a leader for the offense... no one - besides young Devan - is going crazy taking bad shots, which is an easy trap to fall into if you don’t have confidence you’re gonna see the ball again

he deserves a ton of credit for setting the tone... now I feel like that tone has been sufficiently set and he can be more selfish without it hurting the rest of our shot selection

My oldest young Boog’s gal friend graduated Samford today and got some kinda doctorate in nursing. She also gave the commencement delivery & was proposed to by my boy & accepted. All good, but we now all focused on the more important task of screaming our necks off at BJCC tomorrow. I’m so excited that I’ll buy anyone a beer as long as they don’t get in my eyes view. Section 23L, Row N, seats 7-10.

I think the last time I drank at Uptown wherever we ended up had a Fireball Promotion. Only took one shot for me to realize it wasn’t going to be my thing. Still pretty certain I went home with a commemorative pair of Flaming Fireball sunglasses that were so baller.

Good lourde we look awful. 9 day breaks are apparently killers.
