Even though football is just a nice little way to pass the time until hoops season, it’s still worth talking about sometimes. The season is creeping ever so close to starting so may as well get a little discussion going.

On the docket today, Jake Fromm broke his hand. Curious to see how long he’s out

I have nothing emotionally invested in Auburn football anymore so everything good is going to be icing on the cake.

Gus will surprise the hell out of me if he comes out with a competent gameplan against Washington.

Just waiting for ML odds to come out so I can throw @wcw3au1 $200 on Wash +115 or whatever it may be by then...

I get AU even money and you take UDub at +115??? 200 is good for me. Basically any number you want where I get AU moneyline at even is good for me. I mean you do know we are favored by 3-5 in most places??

Looking forward to an incompetent game plan vs Washington, running one RB into the ground and not getting a single backup QB any meaningful reps all season to run the full offense.

Oh, and some inexplicable suspension to a supposed “integral player” and very limited involvement of Nate Craig in the offense.

My guy is at 2.5 right now. Would be somewhere in the +115. I’m going to see how it plays out and just make the bet at the best odds I can possibly get. May even parlay it with another small dog..

if Gus Malzahn beats Chris Peterson, with a NFL draft pick 4 year starter at QB, after a 8 month layoff, I’ll shit myself

really looking forward to kicking the dogshit out of Arkansas and Tennessee though... that should tide me over until preseason hoops practice and I can be properly detached and looking forward to Maui by the time Gus gets Kirb-stomped

Don’t love any of our RBs and secondary looks suspect. Front 7 should be stout but hard to replace Holland’s pass rushing. Wash, @MSU, UGA/bama I predict Ls.

Actually looked at some preseason polls and MSU getting some top 15 hype.

you guys say that, but then you'll get sucked back into the cfb vortex in about a month. Especially when we destroy Washington

Guilty, if we destroy Washington that is. That's pretty good team. If we handle them I'll start to wonder if Gus fell into a great team somehow and want to get excited. I imagine we may win, but it will be in ugly fashion where the defense carries us and the offense has a few flashes but basically looks the same as it did when Kerryon was out or injured last year. And in that scenario I'll be glad we won I guess, but not very enthusiastic about the season at all.

Here’s a preseason nugget. @Van Gorstache won’t be watching the Washington game. Will be on vacation and not gonna waste my time with the boog season opener. Will be the first game I haven’t watched live since I don’t know when, but I can’t wait. Look forward to reading the score in a paper on Sunday morning and either having a Chad Henne smirk or a “well, I’ll be damned. Gus did it” look on my face. Either way, not gonna let Gus ruin my vacation 4 hours into the season when we all know the first game won’t be indicative of what kind of season Gus will put together.

This. I could see the Washington game playing out like the L'ville game, but realistically, Gus gets his sh!t pushed in because the team is unprepared.

Washington is a legit power in my eyes.

They’re putting guys in the NFL right now.

I've learned a lot from @Denim Vest , but nothing more important than have the golf game ready for football season. I've been working my ass off to get my swing in top shape, so I can hit the links when Gus shits the bed.

I truly feel sorry for you guys that can't enjoy AU football. Yea, I want us to win every game but being a 'realist', that just ain't gonna happen....although 1993 and 2010.....Anyway, life is full of highs and lows and cheering for your sports team is no different. When some accept the FACT that every other team is trying to get better and win as well, maybe you can enjoy watching what is the best the best game in the world and we're lucky to be fans of the best school. And although he frustrates me at times, we have a great coach and an even better man at the helm. War Eagle.

No

Second year of Chip and the second year of Stidham. The optimist in me thinks both of those factors will help the team start off better offensively than it has in the past under Gus, and I certainly don’t see the Washington game as a certain L.

I'm hearing ya, and closer to game time I'll probably have convinced myself we're going to win by 21 points.

The UCF loss has done something to me that I can't explain. It just makes me wretch thinking about it.
