Finebaum on the midget handling the post game question about QB's.

Is this all just an attempt to keep Jalen Hurts "happy'? I don't really get it. He had a whole spring and summer to try and win the job and it's obvious that he's 2nd best. If he transfers, then he transfers. He's not good enough to make all this distraction worth it.

But you CAN buy championship-level OL, RBs and QBs, something I wish we did a lot more of.

And in the end, that’s all that matters.

So Auburn just buys DL, Lbers and WR’s. We cheat with those positions, but Auburn decides to play it clean with other positions? Do you believe that?

I read it as saying that those positions can be bought like the rest...just we aren't

I think that's exactly what it is. And partly trying to squash any further questions on the QB subject for the rest of the season.
I will say, I felt bad for Maria Taylor. That was uncalled for by Saban. I briefly met Taylor once, 3 years ago. Super nice girl. Smart, funny.

I may have missed it. Who are you a fan of?

The sad part is we buy just as many kids as anyone and this is the best this staff can get. Gus and his yes men like Horton and Grimes will run this program more and more into the ground with each season they're here.

I think it is about keeping him happy , but just for a short time. Not necessarily for Hurts as much as it is for Saban himself. He will give hurts enough PT to hang in there for 5 games then sit his ass. Why? Because Hurts can play 4 games without losing eligibility but if he takes one snap in a 5th then he loses an entire year of eligibility.

Saban figures if he can rob the kid of a year of eligibility, he won't transfer. I hope Jalen has folks around him smart enough to realize it. I'd fuggin love to have him at AU, which isn't gonna happen, but would like be it. Regardless he deserves to be able to play somewhere where he will be the guy. Dude is a damn good QB/player.

He's built a monster and he's a great CFB coach/program builder. One of the best every, maybe the best ever.

But I can't stand a man who has no recognition for where his fame and wealth come from. Saban operates as if being a football savant would pay millions of dollars and give him the life he has if media and fans didn't exist. He seemingly gives zero recognition to the fact that the only reason he's getting millions per year is the people who follow the sport and the entire complex associated with it...ticket sales, TV deals, etc.

His NFL mentor is the same way. I don't want to downplay how good they are at what they do, but the idea they are better because they are assholes to everyone is just plain stupid. They are assholes to everyone because success has allowed them to become that person.

He reminds me of Bobby Knight, in some respects. I'll give Saban his due. Maybe the best collegiate football coach, ever. But that attitude...classic little man syndrome.

I don't really have a certain team. My family moved around, a lot, when I was a kid. And I have moved a lot, since adulthood. Hard to really latch onto a team like that.
So you follow message boards and try to find entertainment. Sorry, this is interesting to me. How did you find this place?

That's probably the best way to put it. I love sports, and message boards can still be a lot of fun. Especially the larger fanbases. But I've found them to be extremely thin-skinned, on the whole.
I found this place rather by accident. Sometimes my work is very boring. I was looking up a topic about James Madison, the president. Somehow this place popped up.
