I think we’re bettet defensively with Samir. Dunbar males highlight plays but man does he get completely lost in the halfcourt defense a lot. But at this point the offense looks so trash with Samir that we probably need to roll the dice and play Malik more.
I hate our rotations and I’m a bit upset we haven’t figured anything out there. We simply aren’t good enough to not keep 2 of the big 3 on the court (Harper/Brown/Chuma) if the game is still competitive. Our offense doesn’t work at all with lineups like Jvon/Brown/Malik/Danjel/Horace. We need to be setup in a way we don’t have to run those lineups at all, unless up 30.
I agree with you on Samir being a better defender, man up - especially on the perimeter... and he doesn’t get lost nearly as often as Malik does on switches or help rotations
but, Malik may help offset that with better defensive rebounding... we’re not finishing enough defensive possessions... if Malik can help close out a few more with a defensive rebound, that will help
of course, those could just lead to more Malik in the open court trying to lead the break... but I’m trying hard to be positive right now... I don’t want to write off this team and season completely, but it’s getting more and more difficult for me
