Will go ahead and get this one fired up since I was perusing Bama's stats and I'm sure people will wanna talk about this game. Petty has been putting together an all star year. Over 50 percent from 3 pt lala land and also leading the team in rebounds. I still don't think he's that great at creating his own shot and I also think the Boogs possess the size, length, and athleticism at the guard spots to really give him fits. Lewis is obviously a concern too. They have another little guard too who scores a lot, but I just feel they're playing right in our hands. We have the best defensive back court in the league so we should neutrailize them a bit. Throw in the fact that their front court is straight trash and will have no answer for our 3 senior studs, and I like this matchup a lot.

I like the Boogs in this one gang. Just think the matchup plays in the HYGs hands. Boogs 85 - 73

My biggest concern is Lewis. If he can break down our defense that will get their 3 pt shooters shots. I expect they will try to play us similar to how Vandy did with 5 out sets and lots of screens.

Bama sucks...but will probably play good enough to win. I suspect we will have to weather the storm early since the bammers will get up for the one game they actually care about in basketball

I’m pretty shocked at the clip they been scoring and hitting 3s but that was mostly against weak opponents. I guess I’d be forced to admit Lewis is a good player. Refuse to say Petty is but can obviously get hot. The Shakelford kid looks like a scrub but he somehow goes off sometimes. Herb Jones still a decent defender I presume. Their bigs are straight up trash and that’s not debatable.

My LBS has me a bit nervous particularly with undefeated on the line. We’re a lot better than them though just get up on their shooters and do our thing. I take the Boogs in this one.

I’ve watched very little of them, so I’m not going to delittle them too much because, in theory, the new “system” should help get more out of their talent.

But, I quote “system” because playing fast and shooting a ton of 3’s doesn’t mean shit if there’s no underlying method to the madness. I need to see exactly what these bums are trying to do before I worry about it.

They shot 19% from 3 against Kentucky. The more important number though, to me, was they only attempted 21. They average 30. They only attempted 24 against Mississippi State but they got to the line a ton - which isn’t their game and which we don’t allow. They shot 34 against Florida but in 2 OT’s.

The 24 and 21 against Mississippi State and Kentucky are their lowest number of attempts since early November. They were living at 32-35 attempts in late December when they got hot against a bunch of scrubs. Let’s see how many clean looks they get against the HYG’s and how they score in the halfcourt if they’re not running out and getting open looks early. It’s too early to call it a trend, but the bigger/faster/stronger SEC defenses may be a bit of a wake up call to their newfound 3 point prowess. That’s my hope anyway, from watching about 5 total minutes of them all season and taking a 5 minute look at their stats.

They were massively underachieving under Avery. As a Mavs fan I tried to tell my bama buddies that was coming. He's a cheap, Dollar Store level motivational speaker and that's it. His name and a NBA ring plus some good connections got him more talent than he deserved to be able to work with. Plus now all that talent is pretty experienced and were desperate for someone with a clue coaching them. I'll give their style kudos for at least trying to be entertaining and not be some of that garbage they were under Anthony Snoozefest Grant.

They are in a pack behind the best 3 teams (Boogs/UK/LSU) and they can finish in the top or bottom of that pack...I really have no idea who is going to finish where after those top 3. Whoever stays healthy and can win tight games I guess. They can beat anyone because Petty is their Bryce Brown and Kira is legit. Good guard play can get you a lot of W's. I just don't think they can string enough wins together to do any better than 9-9 in the SEC

Seeing a social media push to fill Jordan Clam West with boog supporters. Guess there’s a bunch of tix available since their huhut program isn’t getting the Arn Bow trophy at the game.

There also needs to be a ton of pressure on their student President to be in Auburn this year. Bitch hasn’t come for years.

Mac better have his game ready tomorrow night.

Without knowing much about him, I assumed Oates was a charismatic guy when they hired him. Watching and listening to him they past few months he just seems like a goob though. Videos like this further that feeling. You either play down the comment off or you fire back but this guy toes the line like a kid getting bullied who is on the fringe of fighting back but just can't nut up.

Interesting comments by Oats at the end. He talks about their defensive rebounding. He thinks if they can secure the defensive glass that will allow them to get out on the break and run on us. I’m guessing he draws that concluding because of the way we handle the offensive glass. Will be interesting to see how Bruce addresses that and adjusts to that aspect of the game.

I see no scenario where we don’t get ours on the glass or that they get us running out on the break. It’s basketball though some trash bum could get hot and we could be ice cold. That’s about the only way they’re winning.

Was it Vandy that was able to push it on us a little in transition? That’s the only time I really remember it.

Vandy ran a little. They couldn’t sustain it though. Bama’s numbers suggest they could sustain a really fast paced game. KenPom has them #3 in adjusted tempo.

They play on the verge of out of control all the time. When they’re hitting shots, it can mask their sloppy play and poor shot selection and decision making. When they’re off, they can put themselves in a bind. Turnovers are a problem for them. They have almost 40 more on the season than we do and are averaging 15.4 per game, turning it over 19% of their possessions. Playing fast is a double-edged sword for them.

Sitting on a plane in Atl about to head to DC. Got to get to my apartment, walk over to the Whole Foods to grab some groceries and then get back in front of the TV for Boog Time.

I’m so excited. Don’t know shit about Bama but I’m gonna go with the HYGs kicking their ass!
