Greg Brown, the No. 1 ranked power forward nationally in the 2020 basketball signing class, spent Tuesday in Auburn checking out the campus and getting to know Coach
Bruce Pearl and his staff.
“I was just visiting the school and seeing what it is like and I hung out with the guys,” Brown said of his unofficial recruiting visit to Auburn.
“It was great,” said Brown, who is from Austin, Tex., where he is ranked as the No. 1 prospect in that state as a six-foot-nine, 195-pound power forward.
“I learned a lot about the school,” he said of his trip to Auburn. “I?met the person over sports (Athletic Director Allen Greene). He is a real nice dude and I talked to a lot of the players.”
Brown made the trip to Auburn with family members who were on a beach vacation in Destin, Fla., prior to driving to Auburn.
Ranked five stars by 247 Sports as the No. 9 overall prospect in the country for 2020, hometown Texas, Kansas, Baylor and North Carolina are among the programs recruiting Brown, who has outstanding quickness, quick leaping ability and a body that is expected to continue to add size.
“I am 17 and I am still growing--out and up” Brown said. “The doctors say I am going to be around 6-11.”
Previously a point guard and a shooting guard before he began to grow, that explains why he has an all-court game despite having the height of a post player.
“I was so small and I learned how to handle the ball really well,” he said when asked about his game. “Right now the dunks kind of out-weigh it, but I have a little guard play in my game even though some people might not see it.”
Asked what he is focusing on this summer, Brown said, “Right now I am working on my passing. I am trying to make sure that is good. I am going to try to play point guard next season so I can learn every aspect of the game.”
A prospect who is in no hurry to make a decision, Brown said, “Me and my dad will talk about it. “We are going to make a pretty late decision.”

Asked what he is looking for in a college destination, the prospect with NBA potential said, “The relationships with the coaches and players are going to be important for me. Also, how I like the school in general will factor into the decision.”
Brown said he enjoyed getting to meet Auburn players and the staff. “I love Coach Pearl. He reminds me a lot of my parents. He is intense like them. His persona is similar to my dad’s and he makes me feel comfortable.”
So want the HYG to come boog but not getting my hopes up.
