******Official Boog BBall 'Crootin Thread*******

My stars that DJ Carton child oozes H. Stats are nice. Would be a tremendous upgrade from the spot Jamal is currently taking. Don’t see how we’d have room without a transfer though. That’s assuming we get Jalen which fug it I’m counting on now.

Surprised we haven’t heard anything on Marfo or a grad tranny big. That’s a need.

Not really in love with the Nolley child based on some internet postings. Supposedly kind of a ball hog stretch 4 that thinks he’s a 3. Stats look nice but high volume the efficiency #s aren’t great. Guess if we miss on all the elite 3/4s we’re in on could still have a spot to fill.

Take him and trim the roster.

So Eric Bossi came on the bunker today. I’ll summarize what he posted cuz he was interacting with a bunch of folks.

- thinks there’s too much chaos at Memphis right now for Green to end up there, Auburn’s momentum is very real. That’s why he is picking AU right now. Mike Miller (Memphis asst coach) is a problem as he has a great relationship with the Greens. However, BP has a much better relationship with the Green fam than Penny.
- he was candid in that he and his colleagues totally screwed up Bryce browns ranking out of HS.
- says AU is still right in the thick of it for Jon kuminga. Also said LSU looks to be the primary comp. not UK. Still expects him to reclassify to 2020 class even with all the COVID uncertainty.
- he doesn’t like J Stone as a prospect. Says he’s barely getting CUSA and mountain west interest. Doesn’t sound like a Boog to me.
- he doesn’t really have a feel for Thor’s recruitment. It’s all over the place per him. He’s not even sure he ends up in the 2020 class.

bossi is the man. Eric 2.0 is a doosher

coming over here and hoping to see this thread bumped to the top of the board is one of the highlights of this godforsaken quarantine

I’ve kept my guard up as long as possible, but at this point if Jalen doesn’t come Boog with Sharife for a year I’m going to be inconsolable

I expect Brown to go to UT and Kuminga to end up elsewhere - Texas Tech seems to be flying way under the radar and if he went there they would be absolutely loaded next year... I’m keeping my expectations in check with all others... but Jalen must Boog and I’ll not have it any other way

.

forgot all about that kid. He basically dropped of the crootin map.

Total boog board move though to try and get a crootin analyst to take some lumps on underrating a player. Kind of childish. But whatever

Just deliver me green please

Yeah some guy responded to the j Stone comment with something like “well Bryce brown was a 3 star!!!”

like those are totally comparable situations lmao.

Kudos to bossi for owning it though.

He fell off because he got worked all summer at the EYBL, and according to Bossi, he hasn’t been all that good this HS season. I also didn’t realize he’s almost 20.

I’ll put this here with the update that LSU is possibly our main comp for Kuminga. Goes without saying Forde is a grade A douche but this HBO documentary coming out can’t be good for Will Wade:

Interesting. Didn’t know that was coming out.
Yup. Apparently c**** p***** may get mentioned but he won’t be a focal point at all since it was a different investigation / scandal

Interesting IG story posted by Brown. Has a recap of a lot of things that happened this year. On the 2nd to last story page he has a picture of him in front of the Barkley statue with he and his fam and Wiley and Bruce. It’s captioned Great Vibes. Then the last page says Next chapter of the book will be the bomb! The only other school that he included in the story is a pick of him on his Kentucky visit.

Bossi just posted this on the bunker.

This one was really tough. With him expected to announce on Sunday, Auburn, Arizona State and Rutgers all feel really good about their chances. Normally by now, at least one of the programs is like "we have no chance, we think he's going to (insert school)". Hasn't happened here.

In the absence of any strong indication that Cliff could be leaning one way or another, I'll lean on relationship and it appears that because of assistant Rasheen Davis (previously at Xavier, VCU, Manhattan and UMass) of Arizona State has the deepest relationship. Many feel that his relationship with Cliff was a big factor in his hiring at ASU..

That being said, Omoruyi wouldn't surprise me at all if he picked Auburn or chose to stay local and go to Rutgers.

Still hoping he’s a boog possibility for a couple reasons:

1. Cause I’m a gatdam idiot
2. We’re legitimately the superior hoops program by far amongst the finalists.

Agree on all counts. I’d add:

3. Don’t count out Bruce and our bagmen staff on the ‘crootin trail
4. Big cliff would legit be a perfect fit as a pick and roll partner with Sharife
5. Instant playing time on a contender

Long ass Jhead prediction thread put up today.

Okay guys, I've been promising this for a while now and I finally feel comfortable enough with the intel I've gotten over the past few months to give some predictions on where I feel like Auburn's top remaining targets will land.

Before we get into predictions, let's first look at what needs we have got to fill in order for this class to be a success. The two most pressing needs we have right now are landing a big man to aid Stretch in replacing Austin Wiley's/McLemore's production as the Center/5 position, as well as landing a 3rd ball handler that can double as a combo guard/scoring guard to help replace the hole Samir's loss places upon our roster. Shooting is also a need in this class, though I think that need has been addressed to a degree with the addition of Justin Powell and SC, but shooting is premium in Pearl's system and we'll gladly take another shooter if they happen to be the best available prospect on our board. With that said, here's a quick snapshot of our top remaining targets and their positions:

Combo Guard

CG Jalen Green ***** (CA) - In my humble opinion Green is the best player in the 2020 class and is an excellent fit as a 2/combo guard in Pearl's system. Jalen's forte is scoring without question, but it's his ability to also run the point and be a distributor that makes him elite. Pairing Green w/ Cooper or Turbo in the backcourt next season allows Pearl to place two true ball handlers on the court at one time which is vital in his preferred style of play. The more I watch Green, the more he reminds me of a young Penny Hardaway and how he used to play on and off the ball for the Orlando Magic earlier on in his career before all the injury issues. Auburn's chief competition here is Memphis, USC, and Oregon as well as G-League should he decide to turn pro and start earring a pay check now.

CG Trey McGowens (Transfer & Originally from SC) - The Pitt transfer's game is tailor made for Pearl's system and is eerily familiar to that of one Samir Doughty, except his athleticism and explosiveness is better. As of right now McGowens would have to sit out one season of play should he transfer to Auburn, however should the one time transfer rule pass and go into effect this off-season, McGowens stock would shoot through the roof and this tough as nails player (originally from South Carolina) would be an immediate impact starter wherever he lands.

Other options: DJ Carton (OSU Transfer & a couple of Junior College options I'm still sorting through).

Center

C Cliff Omoruyi **** (NJ) - Here's my write up on Cliff O from this fall:

Cliff Omoruyi dominates through extremely impressive strength and physicality. While he is only an at the rim scorer right now, offense is not Omoruyi's game. He instead controls the paint with his athleticism, rebounding and shot blocking prowess, and is an elite finisher at the rim when he gets his chances. Omoruyi is raw, but God Damn is he talented. If he ever puts it all together he could really excel at this next level.

Ira Bowman has really worked hard on this recruitment and has us in contention (top 2 with Rutgers) to land Omoruyi this weekend.

C Dylan Cardwell **** (GA) - After watching this this raw big man from Georgia on the AAU circuit this past spring I thought he was someone's whose stock could explode w/ a good Senior season. Unfortunately after a surprise ruling by the Georgia High School Athletic association that never happened as Cardwell was deemed ineligible after his transfer from Oak Hill academy to McEachern this past fall. Regardless I've seen enough to know that Cardwell has the ability to help next season. Cardwell rebounds and blocks shots at a very high rate as has the ability to go up strong and finish with two hands in traffic. He really reshaped his body this past AAU season, and moves extremely well in transition. While he's not as physically well put together as Omoruyi, he no doubt passes the eye test when you see him.

Other Targets (TBD as Auburn will monitor Juco and Grad Transfer prospects should they not land either of these two targets)

Best Available

PF/SF Greg Brown ***** (TX) - Here's my write up on Brown from this fall:

This freak athlete is the number 1 target at the 4 position in this class. Brown has the ability to guard 2-5 on the floor, runs like a deer, and has elite off the ball shot blocking ability. While his shooting (especially from three) is still a work in progress, Brown's ability to finish in transition and at the rim in traffic is absolutely elite.

All this still holds true, and I think his decision comes down to Auburn and Texas, with it being a lot closer than I originally thought it would be.

PF/C JT Thor **** (GA) - Thor is a very athletic finisher and capable playmaker in space who has the ability to shoot at a high level from the beyond the arc as well as handle the ball on the break. While still raw, Thor has a certain smoothness in his game that reminds me of Tayshaun Prince from his Kentucky days. Thor is a little all over the map in his recruitment right now, but should we miss on Brown I think that Thor becomes a very real option and someone that Pearl will go all in on contingent on his grades being in order.

Other options (Landers Nolley, TBD grad transfers and Juco Prospects)

Now for the prediction side of this post. With Auburn's 3 remaining spots in the class at this time, this is how I see it playing out:

CG - Jalen Green (I think Auburn lands this talented prospect over Memphis, Oregon, and USC even though CONVID-19 has made the West Coast schools more of an option than originally thought).

Center - Dylan Cardwell (which Cliff O is option number 1 and it's a tight battle at the top, my gut tells me the home town team in Rutgers lands this prospect in the end and thus we make a move on Cardwell).

Best Available - JT Thor (Brown is another recruitment that comes down to Auburn and a home town team. While Pearl and Wes Flanigan have made huge strides here in Brown's recruitment, I think in the end that Shaka Smart and Texas lands this extremely talented prospect as I mentioned a few weeks ago. That said, Brown's Dad has a lot of influence here and he has a outstanding relationship w/ Pearl which has made this recruitment extremely close to call).
