In other news, Boog QB recruit Bo Nix getting mixed reviews at the Elite 11 Finals.

“Not great arm strength”
“Questionable mechanics”
“6’1.5” and 190 lbs”

Once upon a time, someone here called him a rich man’s Sean White who’s being vastly overhyped because of who his dad is.

I’ll wait for Trent Dilfer to weigh in before I decide if Nix is the rich or poor version of Smoke White.

They have similar size, arm strength and athleticism. What other physically talented metrics could we differentiate them on?
He’s also the exact same size as Tua Tagliova. I really don’t see your point. And Nix’s arm is pretty fire but I’m not sure where you’re pulling that one quote from.

Anyways, the Sean White comparison you made was dumb, lazy, and trollish. It was literally based on nothing other than Nix being white

I simultaneously agree with you BUT also have to admit that a rich man's Sean White doesn't sound that bad to me. I got blasted on tbb for saying that it wasn't so much that he has great arm strength, but instead he has great foot work so he can put all his strength into his passes. There's a big difference between that and being able to flick the ball 40-50 yards effortlessly.

You mean outside of them being roughly the same size, having similar arm strength and similar athleticism?

I agree.

Auburn tends to do very well with those types of QBs on a national level. Especially when we’ll likely be counting on them as freshmen.

(Because we allowed ourselves to be outbid for Fields.)

You're wrong about Bo. I doubt you have ever seen him in person.

I wish rice would come ITT, so he could argue how great Bo is and you could debate how much he sucks. It's great message board comedy when posters act as if they are talent evaluators by watching HUDL highlights.

I hope I’m very wrong about him. We’ll likely be counting on him as a true freshman.

I’m just saying the in-person evals he’s getting at the Elite 11 this week (solely his physical attributes) match up pretty closely with what I’ve always thought about him.

Hope he helps us sign a Top 5 class this year and leads us to multiple SEC titles and playoff appearances.

His dad holds a special place in my heart and is one of my all-time favorite AU players.

Where did you get those quotes from? Here's the first reveiw of his performance that I saw and it completely contradicts two of your concerns:

"No. 8-Bo Nix, Pinson Valley (Ala.). Committed to Auburn -Nix struggled a bit in the roll out drills but looked smooth and efficient the rest of the day. The Auburn commit is another kid who has a pure stroke, very solid mechanically and an effortless release. He has enough arm strength to get the ball down the field but is at his best making the high percentage throws with timing and anticipation."

Like where are you reading that these in person evaluations are troublesome?
His eval after Day 1...

Nix struggled a bit in the roll out drills but looked smooth and efficient the rest of the day. He has enough arm strength to get the ball down the field but is at his best making the high percentage throws with timing and anticipation.

Just sounds like a kid with an average arm that will need a clean pocket and perfect timing/crisp routes to make plays in the passing game. Not the kind of kid who can just run around in circles avoiding pass rushers and launch TD bombs downfield that we typically win championships with.

I’m skeptical about Gus’s ability to win titles with average size/avg arm strength chalkies. We already tried that with one former Elite 11 MVP and it didn’t work out very well.

Again, hope I’m dead wrong.

Huntsville area starting to consistently produce some elite tier hoops talent... Petty at BAMA, Langford at Michigan State, now Lewis... I may have to step up and get involved in the bag dropping for this one... the other 2 were solid, talented players - but just weren’t handsome enough to be worth my effort

2020 point guard Sharife Cooper is one of the fastest rising recruits in the country. He plays for Mceachern high school out of Marietta, Georgia at 6-0 160 he has a super-fast first step that allows him to blow past defenders. His court vision is elite. He is able to find people quick in the right spots. He can score in bunches from anywhere on the court and is fearless. He is the type of point guard that can make a whole team better, cooper reminds me of former NBA point guard Rod Strickland and i rate him a 5-star star. He is the 5th rated prospect in Georgia, 9th rated point guard and the 52nd rated prospect in the 2020 class by 247, I had a 1 on 1 with him about his recruitment.

LJ: You have been a monster in AAU. What has made your game progress to the next level?

Sharife: Working and being in the gym constantly was everything for me, by getting my shot better and being efficient as I get to the rim, it also built a ton of confidents to where I can have a mentality to kill.

LJ: What teams are recruiting you the hardest?

Sharife: Auburn is big, Georgia, Vanderbilt a lot of school are coming in hard right now, but I’m just taking it slow I’m still wide open in my recruiting process.

LJ: What are you looking for in your ideal school?

Sharife: Want my coach to really believe in me and let me play my game as well as be very hard on me and teach me much more about the game.

LJ: What type of offense do you like to play in?

Sharife: I like to use the pick and roll, I’m also open to any kind of play but mainly free lanes to get to the basket and make my teammates better.

LJ: What are your upcoming visits? When are the dates?

Sharife: I’m not sure yet, mainly focused on the camps I have coming up.

LJ: Your impact shows on the court heavy. Explain the chemistry you have with 2020 5-star Brandon Boston on the court? What makes you guys so dynamic together?

Sharife: I and BJ clicked the very first day we were on the court which is rare being that we've never really played together, I love playing with BJ he makes the game so much easier for me by just always being in the right spots and being able to rely on him to make shots.

LJ: What were your stats your last AAU game?

Sharife: last tournament I believe I averaged 28 pts 8asts and 3 rebs.

LJ: Explain what these programs have said to you and how you feel about them:

Auburn: They like my game , they want to put the ball in my hands and let me run the team, I love auburn with Bruce Pearl and the coaching staff I’ve been there a lot and it's like a home feelings.

Alabama: I haven't been to Alabama yet, but they like my game and want me to go there.

Rutgers: I have family at Rutgers, being that I’m from New Jersey. The coach also wants me to be a part of their team and wants to let me run their team and help push them to the next level.

Florida State: coach comes to a lot of games, haven’t been there yet but look forward to seeing the campus and meeting the coaches.

NC State: I’ve been to NC State about 3 times and I like the coaches, they have nice facilities and they want me to be their point guard and have a plan for me to help their team.

South Carolina: haven't heard much from south Carolina

LJ: When do you plan to commit:

Sharife: around senior year, I’m not rushing anything as of now

Young stud sounds like he's coming to AU and he could be bringing another 5 star with him

I’d hope that Bruce’s new contract extension and job security helps some of these kids go public soon. I remember having Chuma and Davion like locked like 2 years before they signed. Time to get these studs officially on board

That was a good write up on strech. I hope we can red shirt him. I’d hate to delay his enrollment.

Any news on the new assistant? Hopefully it's Sharman or Charlton.

Id be thrilled with either one of those. But someone said White has actually already left Ga State and went back into the HS ranks. Not sure if that is accurate, but if it is, I wonder if just doesn't like the college coaching life

Yes, he is at Pace academy private school.

In years past, I’d say this dude would be a useless pickup but Chirp Lindsey seems to know how to successfully utilize these types of guys. Ryan Davis and Hastings were both great last season in Chip’s screen game
