I don't understand pulling for that this year. This happens, Gus isn't going anywhere, and we become Tennessee
If it all falls apart, either Gus will be fired, or he will be FORCED to rid our staff of the useless dead weight and legit assistants will be thrust upon him against his will.

If he refuses to accept the changes in assistants, he resigns and doesn’t receive his buyout.

How would either of these options be bad for Auburn?

Because neither will happen, especially the firing.

There is not an end game where he resign (other than for cause) and doesn't get his buyout.

The "bad" part is Gus is and would still be the HC

He doesn’t get to willingly resign and receive his buyout.

If we can’t fire him, we make his life miserable.

thanks gang. Take this to another thread. One person here has a distinct talent to make threads totally insufferable.

He ain't resigning. I have no idea why you think this is a possibility.

He stays and we make his life miserable is the worst case scenario for Auburn

Tigers win an ugly game 23-13. Pruitt is gonna blitz the hell out of Stidham. Hope our screen game is on point. The second half offense at State had some moments of good play. Maybe that translates to more consistent offense for four quarters, but I’m not getting my hopes up. The defense should be fine against Tennessee. Nothing from their offense seems like a serious threat.

Pulling hard for UT. Sorry gang. The more losses the better
I don't agree, but find it harder to argue against it. I really don't see AU spending the money to buyout Gus, but it's really only an additional $7M or so over what it'll inevitably cost to fire him after 2019. Offensive coaching staff buyout's probably around $750k-$1.25M. Call it a wash after the revenue you'd lose after a shit-tastic 2019 and get the city involved to charge all the hotels, restaurants, and downtown business a Gus tax. Charge them twice as much if they publicly supported Gus after 2015. Gods know they won't doing nearly as well if we "become Tennessee".

I’m crossing my fingers for a Gus sex scandal and post game resignation. But I’ll settle for a beautiful Fall day and a sprinkle of MALIK. Also hope to run into some of our world class hoopsters. Boogs by not very much at all.

Do you think he would get fired if he had back to back 5-7 years?

thank zod for an 11 am kickoff finally... it’s nice to get my Gus experience out of the way early and then enjoy the afternoon and night

UT is worse than godawful... not even Gus can Gus this one up

BOOGS romp by 9
Everyone says they hate 11 am games, but they are great from the couch.

Perhaps this means I’m more oulde than I think

It was the right thing to do.
If you're not being facetious, I agree. All parties were in the wrong and everyone needed a reset at that point. It actually should've been the first time Jacobs was fired, tbh. Let a real AD hire instead of Jay hiring Chizik. We might not have gotten Cam but the program is possibly in better shape?

Been a busy week and haven’t secured a tee time this weekend yet. May still try get out there today or go to the range. Supposed to be gorgeous. NFL tomorrow be a better day to sit around the house.

Just have to hate watch them now, folks. A W today just means Zahn will probably pull out 7-6 or 8-5 which is basically purgatory
I was listening to The Rundown yesterday and was surprised that JGT said something to the effect that he could see a scenario where Gus got fired soon. Whether after this season or next. The buyout is a lump sum but then 4 yearly installments. If there's any type of offsetting language in his contract, then it really could be feasible. Fire him and then hope he gets another job soon and it wouldn't be that expensive.

@Docdumpsta keeps saying Gus will be so miserable after next year when everyone hates him that he’ll negotiate a reduced buyout and go somewhere else.

I ain’t buying it but maybe Gus is weird enough to do that. At least I can hope.

But yeah I think we owe him like $16 million right off the bat, and then installments. Which isn’t completely off the table, but we can’t keep doing this every 5 years or so to fired coaches

it'd be so awesome if he left and then still had to pay the 2 million he pledged for the new facility. But I could see him leaving because he doesn't feel appreciated if he had another job lined up

That’s probably our best case scenario. Maybe Vandy will open up next year and they will have some patience with him

Weekly caffeine fueled stats analysis.

Bottom line, if Gus' manages to field a team that loses this one...well, Auburn deserves it.

SEC Ranking Versus FBS(IA) Schools:

Scoring Offense v Scoring Defense
AU: 12th v. UT: 11th
UT: 14th v. AU: 3rd

Rushing Offense v. Rushing Defense
AU: 14th v. UT: 11th
UT: 9th v. AU: 9th

Passing Offense v. Passing Defense:
AU: 8th v. UT: 8th
UT: 12th v. AU: 6th

Sacks v. Sacks Allowed:
AU: 7th v. UT: 5th
UT: 10th v. AU: 12th

TFL v. TFL Allowed:
AU: 3rd v. UT: 10th
UT: 14th v. AU: 8th

Off. 3rd Down % v. Defensive 3rd Down %
AU: 12th v. UT: 9th
UT: 11th v. AU: 6th

I'm not even looking at RZ stats this week. All I can say is if the offensive doesn't leave them on the field for 40 minutes, our defense is good enough to get this win. Is the coaching good enough? We'll see.

it’s definitely age for me... I’m not even THAT old, but I can’t sleep in on weekends anymore... with a 6-7 pm kick, I’ve alreay been up and doing shit around the house all gd day, and NOW I have to watch Gus go Gus for 4 hours before I can really enjoy my night?

it’s so much easier to bingewatch 8 hours of some weird show, or catch up with friends, or disappoint some tinderoni in ways she never even dreamed possible, when I can start that shit at a reasonable hour

“Gus & Chill” is NOT an effective strategy

that Washington win completely fvcked with my mind... I thought our DL was unblockable, expected the OL to gradually improve and be rolling over people by this part of the schedule, and even giving away L’s to UGA and BAMA, I thought Gus has somehow accumulated enough talent to overcome even his relentless poison

I knew we’d end up here eventually, but I expected it to be next year with a new front 7 and QB... I never dreamed it would be here 2 weeks later

Washington isn’t great, but we’ll look back at the end of the season and that will be one of the biggest WTF results of the season... that loss alone will keep the entire PAC 12 out of the playoffs
