OT: attn. music nerds

Anyone else listen to Toubab Krewe? They dropped a new album recently and are playing in the Denver area 3 of the 4 nights we're gonna be up there later this weekend. Gonna try to catch them at least one night. George Porter trio is the opener at least one night, so it'll feel a little like home.

Not this guy but I'll check em out. Just sat down to watch the Aretha special that was on the tube last night. Hopefully they don't butcher her music too bad lol

Gang, just re-listening to Quadrophenia for the ten thousandth time, and it’s undeniable that The Who had the best rhythm section of all time. John Entwistle basically plays lead guitar as a bassist on a few songs. And Keith Moon’s drum fills are nuts

These gals got a bad rap because stupid people. I always liked their musical talent and songs.
They suffered from the same fate a lot of rich young people do. Because they are surrounded by ‘yes’ people, they start believing their own BS and felt like they could say anything with no repercussions. It’s OK to go political, it’s your right, but it’s also others right to not buy your stuff...

I don't disagree but they weren't completely wrong and stupid people bought into the hyper-jingoistic time period of puttin' a boot up your ass cuz it's the uneducated, ignorant Murkiah way. Just another example of corporate media brainwashing at it's finest.

They said they were ashamed the President was from Texas, inserting themselves into things non-musical. People who were not ashamed of the President decided f-the Dixie Chicks. Just the chance you take when you decide to enter the political fray when no one should really ever have to know or care what your political ideas are...

Anyway, since this is a thread about music....

This fuggin' Reba is really helping calm my nerves after that masterful coaching job by BRUCE.

I'm ashamed but I forgot it was happening. I tuned in late last night during Radio Child. Listening to the entire performance right now.
Pretty much the same thing, my sister texted me about it just as JLC was starting. It and I'm Glad with Jason Isbell were great. Some really cool work between Jimmy and Jason in I'm glad.

Just finished listening. Pilgrims is always a good first set song IMO, JLC and I'm Glad were great as you pointed out with Isbell. Disco second set opener was tops for me with Porch Song in the middle of the encore. Two of my all time favs. My Dog's name is Disco ffs. Bowlegged always awesome as well mainly because it eluded me when I would see them. I thought North was a poor closer (although JJ is the man) until I realized they were going to play a 3 song encore. The action man was straight fire.

Good stuff.

One of the highlights of my musical life was seeing Bowlegged and Genesis with Jorma at the Warfield back in Summer 2000.

What was your first show? I missed Mikey's last OM and still kick myself for it. Didn't make Bonaroo either but saw them do with that DP @ NYE 99-00. With lazers! 1x1 was my white whale, I never got one in 100+ shows.

I was at most of the shows on the DDBB tour they recorded for Another Joyous occasion. Only missed the last couple of tracks from Roseland in NY.

Not a bad first show at all. Disco opener Chunk of Coal encore with a really good Papa's Home > Jam > Drums > Tie Your Shoes > Papa's Home and a Parsons second set closer. You really couldn't ask for much more. We did Starkville the night before and hit Murfreesboro, Charlotte, Montgomery, and NOLA on that run. Fugg I used to have fun.

It was a killer first show. It really set my world on fire because I was already addicted to panic before that lol.

I am almost certain that they played Parsons at every single show I was present for.

A Henry Parsons set closer is one of the great gifts of the universe. Just rage space with so much bass.
