I'll check it out. I'm just now getting into a headspace where I can truly enjoy Jimmy and Trucks. I never would've guessed how much Todd made that WSP 1.0 and 2.0 sound. Nance played with Cody Dickinson and some other talented folk here last month and I found out about it the day after...
I'm still working on Trucks but I'm on board with Jimmysound now. Only a few songs really irk me the way they play it now compared to Mikey. Damn bummer finding out the day after, I love me some Dickinson's. I loved the times I seen NMAS and wish I had seen them at AU but missed out on that.

Have you seen JRAD yet? About the only time I can catch them is during Jazz Fest, this will be our 4th annual run.. What they do with the Dead's songs is refreshing, not trying to cover so much as honor if you will. I never leave without a big goofy grin.

Speaking of Benevento/Russo, if you haven't heard the 53 minute Foam they played with Mike Gordon in Athens back in 2005 you should.

I haven't.....I will check out the vids

My favorite sets from 420Fest:

1. JRAD
2. Billy Strings
3. Panic Night 2
4. Panic Night 1
5. Turkuaz
6. Everything Orchestra
7. Keller Grateful Grass

Really, really enjoyed Turkuaz going in to them not knowing much about them. Billy Strings is the future. Kid is so damn good.
I wish I could get into Billy Strings but it's just not doing it for me. I really need to see them live.

Well, I got a little schwilly and degenerate last night but JRAD put on a very tight 2 hour set. Started off with a 45ish minute Jam ~> Cats Under the Stars. I normally skip that track when I'm listening to the GD but JRAD used it as a launch pad for some absolutely incredible playing. Also played a He's Gone that was respectful of the original while being completely unique.

1am breakfast at the Camellia Grill hit the spot as well.

Making fun of Alebammer and her state Anthem, I give you one of The GOATS. I'd say so many outside looking in still have this opinion of the state in which I have always lived. Dark & haunting, but still an enchanting voice backed up by some great background & jamming music.

Any of you kids listen to Ernest Ranglin? He's a fantastic Jamaican guitar player. If not I'd recommend starting with his "Below the Bassline" album.

I’ve got a couple of crazy, funny stories about that song, but I’m afraid my oldest young Boog might see it.

Weird. I have been away from music for a while now. Maybe 3 yrs since I have seen a live show. It was very hard at the beginning. Could not even listen to much of the music I’ve loved for years because I would get the urge. Not that I needed a break from music, but I need a break from the music scene.

Anyway, I just checked this thread for the first time and for some strange reason today of all days. I stopped here and said who is JRAD? Listened to some. Really cool what they are doing. Very talented. Goggled them and what do you know they are playing her in Houston tonight at the HOB. Thinking of breaking down and going. I need live music in my legs and in my life and I think I can handle the scene. You know just have fun, but not go over the ledge. If I can find someone to go with, I will report back.

Update: JRAD was sick! One of the best shows I’ve seen in years. Straight killed it. I will go and see them again. One of the best gigs going.
