OT: AUBURN BASKETBALL

Horace has done well as a utility man, and really seems to be the heart of this team in a lot of ways.

everyone on the roster has settled into their role nicely... no one tries to do too much aside from random spurts from Malik - but it’s not a full blown Bowers or Dunans (and that kills me to say) level epidemic... if anything, Malik going full Malik is what blows the roof off our ceiling and makes us damn near unbeatable - he just needs a little better feel for situational awareness

anyhoo - Horace has been great... I won’t even complain about his foul problems - because rewatching the USC game, he was officiated completely differently than Murray and Silva were... same with Gafford at Arky... it’s maddening - especially with Mac gone... but there was a stretch early in SEC play where we were debating if Horace had earned back his starting spot... he’s plenty good enough as our “best” big to make a run

Boogs are SEC Champs! Still pinching myself. Was looking for a good SEC Champs pic on the googler, and saw this embarrassing gem. Maybe we are truly becoming a basketball school after all.

This 2nd part about our best lineup right now is a good point. Desean has lost some confidence lately. I'm hoping it's just a slump and he can get back in it, he still does a lot of good for us. We don't get as many rebounds with him off the floor because he doesn't allow himself to be pushed around like Chuma does. We are definitely better offensively - right now - with that lineup.

What the entire conversation misses is that most college hoops programs have issues after their best 5. Lots of good teams struggle offensively when 2-3 bench guys are on the court. Acting like this is some kind of AU-only issue is one of those weird fan things that happens when people get too heated.

Our biggest overall issue is losing one of our only bigs and having to rely on Horace/Chuma/Murray to basically fill the entire rotation for the 4 and 5. Making Heron play the 4 hurts his offensive game for obvious reasons.

We have a depth problem in terms of size. That is leaking into other areas and compounding them.

I maybe wrong but I don't see how we make it past the sweet 16. If I wasn't such a homer I'd put us on my bracket getting knocked out at the round 32 just because of our depth.

I agree that our margin of error is much smaller now with the loss of Mac, but shouldn't we see where land and the potential matchups before deciding when we lose?

This. I've got to much tied up in tickets and just booked my hotel. I need Nashville to happen.

The more I look at the brackets and the teams around us the more I worry we will get shipped out West. There are so many teams in the South and Midwest that are in the 1-4 range. And a team like Xavier, who I never expected to be in the conversation for Nashville, now seems to be popping up in that discussion because 2 Michigan teams are in the mix for spots in Detroit.

I think we might actually need a run in the SECT to solidify us as a 2 seed and give us the best chance to get to Nashville.

Right now, give me the Sweet 16 and I'm a very happy man. One great weekend of hoops and the week of anxiety where we know 2 games and we are in the Final Four....yes please. Even if we fail I just want to feel what thats like for a week again. Been too long.

Right now I don't care one bit about the SECT to be honest. If we win the first game I'll start to get excited. But if we get bounced I'm not going to shed a tear or even give it a 2nd thought. Just want to see our NCAA bracket ASAP

The SECT quarterfinal game will be the most stress-free game I’ll watch all year. Just not at all worried about that outcome.

No kidding. My Nashville tickets get here today. Which at least gives me time to sell if needed. It’s making me want to win the whole thing this weekend to lockup Nashville and Atlanta

Me too. We wouldn’t play until Friday if we go to Nashville so that’s another day for these 22 and under guys to get ready to play if they are worn out.

Yep. Just got mine, too, and I realized my seats came with an open bar hospitality thingamajig before each session. Got my hotel booked, too. Won't likely be able to make the trip to Dallas or Charlotte, so really counting on the good guys to cut down the nets this weekend to secure a #2 in Nashville. Gonna be sore if my best laid plans get squished.

We all may have to BOOG in Nashville regardless

Looks like TBS will reveal the tourney teams in alphabetical order and then show the brackets. Must have been at the request of bama not wanting to sit through an entire show hearing about Auburn. They can now cut the tube off after a couple minutes. Hopefully it will be the announcement of Auburn that will make it official that the tide will be in the NIT, again.
