OT: Boogs 2020 Not Men's Softball

Big opportunity to get a series on the road. Ole Miss is good, but they're struggling a bit right now and dealing with as many injuries as we are. Hopefully, the return of Owen and Fitts pays off for us this weekend.
Is Fitts going to start or stay in that closer role?

He's going to come out of the bullpen. Not sure if he will close or not. The big thing is if he throws at all. The injury is to a toe on his drive foot. It sounds like they're hopeful he throws but might not know until the day of the game if his foot feels good enough to go.

Y’all can’t let @Slippin Jimmy rustle y’all about baseball. It’s all he’s trying to do.

Obviously. Anybody with 14 usernames is a troll. But he’s also tried to talk baseball a few times over the years In a serious way and he’s just not very knowledgeable on the subject. I just wanted to see if he had the balls to put something in writing.

Btw, extremely tough loss to start the year. We need to win every game we hold our opponents to 1, whether they are scuffling a bit or not. Encouraged by Bull’s performance. Just hard not to play what if with this one.

Man I know it’s Friday night but you’ve got to slow down on the drinking

Vandy had Kumar going Friday night and he struck out 14 and won 3-2. Give a kid his first SEC start yesterday and he throws a 16 K no hitter. Nice start for them. Two 1 run losses for us. Oh well. Life in the SEC.

That kid is Al Leiter’s son, Jack Leiter. Unless Vandy has some injury issues, I’m not sure anyone can stop them in the SEC this year.

Another $#|++¥ loss. You can’t expect to sweep anybody in this league but we sure needed to win last night to get some momentum going the right direction. Bull pitched well again before the delay. Still gotta get other pitchers healthy. Williams got a couple of hits late. Maybe he gets going. Everybody from the top down needs to be better.

Vandy’s Leiter went 7 last night with 10 K’s and gave up no hits. They are just filthy. He has a 0.31 ERA and his sidekick is under 0.60. Wow.

Watched it, very painful. Ware fell down on basically a routine fly ball and it cost Bull the lead. Bright looked really good for 2 innings and then shit the bed and gave up a big inning. Battle back and score 4 in the bottom of 9th to tie it. Probably could have won it in the 9th, but it was a good job to tie it back up. Then Fitts stuff looked a lot better, but he still managed to give up two runs. Just so frustrating. It's also more frustrating because last year was really the year we should have made a run. This year should have been a rebuilding year, but because of COVID we got back a few guys we shouldn't have and we are right on the edge of being a decent team. Then we lose like 5 of our top pitchers to injury and we have this extremely mediocre start to the season. I haven't given up on this season, but the West is so tough that I don't know if we can make a run even if we get the pitchers back healthy. Anyone know anything about Skipper? Is he close to being back? I don't even know what his injury was.

Good lord @popquizman is jizzing all over himself. We keep falling short. Hating to do it but I’m 2 games away from throwing in the towel.

Well I see we are starting a 3 game series with Arkansas who is ranked #1 in some poll, so I'm sure that going to go well.

Gonna be a rough weekend. We do get Jack back to start game two. And we're moving Barnett back to the closer role. So if we do get a chance to win a game, we're probably going to throw every quality arm we have in it. Somehow, some way, you have to come back with a win from there. 0-9 is almost impossible to recover from, both from a standings perspective and an emotional perspective.

Bull dominant again!
Bull pitched his nuts off. Great to see Skipper back, he’s one of the big pieces we have missed for sure. Excited to get Jack back, but his last two outings weren’t quite as sharp as I hoped. Hopefully being back in his starting roll will help.

Another terrible bullpen performance. Not sure what was worse, the coaching decisions or the pitchers executing their plans. Had a legit chance with Fitts to get out of trouble with the lead but he was put in a bad spot to start with. He got squeezed on a big 3-2 pitch and if he hadn’t and nothing changed the next guy ended the inning. Ultimately not sure it would’ve mattered.

Copy and paste post above. Remove Dick and add Barnett.
Can’t decide how I feel. If we were looking at this performance in a bubble, it would actually be a pretty good performance. Won a game and lost two more by one run @ #1 or#2 Arky. The problem is that our weakness all year has been the bullpen and it’s still the problem. Then again, 4 of best pitchers have been out with injuries and we are just now getting healthy. Normally at this point in the season Jack could have gone at least one or two more innings. If that happens, we probably win game 2 and the series. Obviously impossible to predict, but I imagine we would have a pretty good record if we had just had Jack and Skipper healthy all year. Those 2 made a huge difference this weekend against the top offensive team in the country.

Starting pitching was great. Defense was great. We hit the piss out of the ball in game 2, just right at somebody all night. Could’ve easily scored more runs. I felt we needed more runs than 5 to win Game 3 and we maxed out considering the way we hit. Glad the starters are all back and improving. We’ve still got a chance to make some noise. Just have to get some confidence for the pen guys.

Just can’t get over the hump. Postseason play seems like a pipe dream.
I didn’t get to watch much, but turned it on to watch Miller lose one in the lights and it turned into a double. That ended up being the winning run. So painful.
