I'll be honest I just assumed auburn had a better basketball history just because of the name recognition. Since joining the Greg I've been doing a little googling and seeing that auburn basketball was basically irrelevant before Pearl. Do you auburn folk think he'll stay for good or does he jump ship to a Duke/UNC/Kentucky/Kansas (if we ever fire bill "elite eight" self). I'd personally welcome him with open arms at KU. I love his brand of basketball and obviously got an up close look last march. I just don't see when the big boys come calling that he stays at auburn. For all your sakes I hope he does though. You all seem like good folk.

Hello friend. I certainly expect him to retire here and have the school named after him. We have our share of dumbass redneck imbeciles in charge but I still suspect we won’t fug anything up bad enough to lose Bruce. Why leave one blueblood for another? Don’t see Corch K or Roy going anywhere either. Well Roy might get canned but you get the idea lol.

I personally don’t think he would leave. He’s done more at Auburn already than he did at UT. He seems truly happy. Auburn can pay him so it won’t ever be a money thing.

also when the CBB world wouldn’t give him a chance, Auburn did. I think thats the biggest thing for Bruce. He’s got a ton of support and a fan base that would never turn on him. Everyone has bought in. He’s taken a horse riding school and made it a basketball school. I think he sees it through.

I just think it would be tough as a professional to turn down an offer from a unc or duke. Not saying that he would necessarily get those offers, but they'll be looking for new coaches relatively soon. It might take a huge school like that to lure him away though. I don't imagine him leaving for a like a michigan state or a uconn type program.

It would be funny if he ever ended up at UK with as many of their fans that hate him. Wonder how they would spin that one.

Kentucky has the most delusional fanbase on planet earth. They think they should win the national championship every damn year and if they don't then they piss and moan about refs.

But if they hired pearl he would immediately be God's gift to basketball and they would absolutely love the guy instantly. That is until he doesn't win a national championship in year one and then they want him fired.

Those programs aren't going to come after him no matter what he does at AU. The baggage (that seems overrated) won't meet their weird talking points. I also think they'll just be after "the next K or Dean Smith type" which means going after younger guys who can be at those places for 12+ years. I don't think Kansas would come after him either. Same reasons on looking for a younger, newer name that can be there a decade plus.

I think we got incredibly lucky and nabbed him when the rest of CBB was hesitant and then we stood beside him when the stuff came up almost 2 years ago with Wiley and Purifoy and Chuck Person. Lots of AD's would have bailed. And he's a hero in Auburn. He'll have the court or Arena named after him and possibly pass the job down to his son.

Just the thought of him retiring at AU makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside. Not saying it does or doesn’t happen but just the fact that there’s a chance it happens makes my heart smile
