time. Being said on tbb that if Gus loses this weekend he might not survive the season. I say to each and every one of you

giphy.gif

On one hand, it’s gotta feel like shit that a whole massive group of people think you suck so hard that they’re willing to stump up millions of dollars to never see your face again. On the other hand, he could get 30 million dollars to not have to work and that is just the most remarkable accomplishment ever

Don't see how it is even remotely feasible, but Tater is saying that some thing they can get out of the buyout or part of the buyout.

I cannot contain my excitement from that possibility

Same here.

But nothing would anger me more than the OM game literally being the deciding factor. If they can't look at the whole body of work and realize that if they keep him, even if he wins 7-8 games, it could out the program in a Tennessee level tail spin, then I don't know what to say.

yeah it's such a simple minded approach to let that sway one or the other. The only thing I'm hoping that Ole Miss game is the deciding factor of whether to fire midseason or end of season

The thing about this situation is if we don't fire him immediately if he loses to OM or A&M, then what happens if he somehow lucks up and beats an overrated UGA team?

If they’re to the point where people are already committed to paying for his buyout then I can’t see being the coach next year. The ole miss game could let him finish the season, but when he gets his ass kicked by Uga and Bama then he’s gone

Yep. Gotta get him out of there before UGA.

My fear there is that we hire a search firm, pay them millions of dollars and then they tell us to hire the interim coach (LSU, Ole Miss, USC, etc...).

So what’s the technicality that AU is banking on as far as his buyout is concerned?

He won't share that info or doesn't know it.

I think that's also pointless, but yeah i think youre probably right

I get what you're saying but unless you think we should actually consider giving TWill the job, there is no point in doing what you're saying either.

Well I guess this week will be the FIRST ever that I root against the ole O&B, but I'm just going to chalk it up to betterment & go on with it. Two ways this can come down as far as perception:
1) Boogs look like idiots for getting in a situation like this.
2) Boogs end up looking like they will pay whatever it takes to try & win at football. Hope this scenario works out of course.
Gonna try & get my Old Bud to opine on this too
@CJ3131 whatcha got?

yeah true. I was just thinking of throwing him a bone to show other schools what he could do.

Plus I want him as HC in about 10 years, so I'm just being greedy

There was a bunch of talk last year from Tennessee fans about them hoping they could fire Butch Jones for cause bc he had reportedly punched a player or something. I don’t think anything came of it and I doubt Malzahn has done that specifically. But maybe there’s something about endangering players. That shit with Hastings and Stove this year was really iffy and bordered on reckless

Guessing it’s a pipe dream unless they say “we’ll give you 23 now and we’re done” or something similar. Otherwise, we are on the hook for the full amount I’d bet. There were “rumors” that we somehow wouldn’t have to pay Tubs and Chiz before their respective exits too.

Then you still fire the dumbass. Why are we so damn blinded by one or two games that we make long term decisions without looking at a coaches entire body of work? Hell, UGA fired Richt after he beat AUBURN and had a 9 win season because they saw that he would never get them a natty and believed that giving Kirby a chance was more beneficial to their program. I sure as hell hope we beat UGA, just because I hate those bastards, but it would be absolutely crazy to use that as a reason to retain Gus when their is so much evidence proving that he's a damn clown.

I’m not saying that there’s something that makes the whole thing void. But yeah. Something like “you better take what we’re offering or else we’ll take you to court over __________ violation.”

Maybe that’s possible but it seems if we had any goods on the guy, we’d probably have some liability for keeping it a secret until we’re trying to weasel out of our stupid deal we made.

Agree on number 1 and we have a damn mess.

I think there is little choice on number 2 as the current snit show being led by our HC will cost a lot more $$$$$$$$ in the long run.

You know I sit in an area of JH where fans have been sitting since the 60s and 70s, all together and almost like family. I have never seen this group as upset as they are right now and some are talking about not renewing and so on. I don't think they are blowing smoke and in fact, some are very serious.

As for pulling agains the Boogs, I cannot. He will be fired anyway, I think. I am not to the point where I can do that when we have players out there busting their asses to win--well, some of them, including my favorite, number 57.

I can understand a fan doing that but I cannot.

Blaze ON Solly, Blaze ON!!

Don’t worry CJ I got you. I will be pulling them rebels through for the both of us buddy!!!

Yeah I don’t know. But will how quickly this has happened and been organized (apparently), it just makes me think they found something. It’s just sooooo much money otherwise in such a short amount of time

It’s a lot but only 10.3 more than after year 3. 21.425 million is a lot too. If you sell 20,000 fewer season tickets over 3 years, less than 7,000 per season, and take away second level TUF money, which is NOTHING in the grand scheme to AU, that’s 7.8 million. That’s not ticket prices or concessions. That’s also not a penny from the people who actually fund the program. It was a ridiculous contract but it’s been funny to me to watch people act like he could go 5-7 and not get run off.

I don’t even think it’s as much going 5-7 as it is HOW going 5-7 could shake out. I mean, if we were losing 38-30 games and putting up 400-450 yards of offense and the defense sucked I think his job would be far more secure.

Speaking of Blaze On, the Specters will be in attendance Saturday to watch Bill Clark hopefully move closer to that conference championship appearance with a W over North Texas.

Blaze On indeed

No doubt. Offensive gurus can't put this offensive product on the field in year six. That's for damn sure.

Also that's not revenue generated for the city from visitors.

Agreed. #57 deserves better, but it's really damn hard to hope for anything that helps Gus at this point.

hard to say i'd ever pull against a team that I actively encourage young men to come play for. it's not these kids fault that AU can't pull it's head out of it's ass and bring in coach who can run and build a program and then give him the freedom to actually run it. Gus is a good guy but he has no business running the AU football program. Really hope this thing shakes out sooner than later.
