OT: Gang, we have entered everyone's favorite part of being a boog - coaching fire/hire rumor mill

Agree on number 1 and we have a damn mess.

I think there is little choice on number 2 as the current snit show being led by our HC will cost a lot more $$$$$$$$ in the long run.

You know I sit in an area of JH where fans have been sitting since the 60s and 70s, all together and almost like family. I have never seen this group as upset as they are right now and some are talking about not renewing and so on. I don't think they are blowing smoke and in fact, some are very serious.

As for pulling agains the Boogs, I cannot. He will be fired anyway, I think. I am not to the point where I can do that when we have players out there busting their asses to win--well, some of them, including my favorite, number 57.

I can understand a fan doing that but I cannot.

Blaze ON Solly, Blaze ON!!
Yes that IS a tight nit group where you sit. Heck most of them knew who I was & they had never even met me before. I figure fans like that are more about apathy than really being caught up in all of the negative stuff (that's where I am). Apathy is actually worse than being mad at the situation IMO.
On the rooting against the Boogs, I guess I've let my mindset become that the players will be better off in the long term if we loose Saturday & he gets runt off. Maybe we loose, he gets fired & I can root for us to win out. I've also been watching football as long as you, and I have no idea who I'll be rooting for until kickoff.
On a side note, a friend of mine from API and I went to the LSU game together & I told him I was planning to go to the MSU, UT AND the OM game. Reason being I'm only a 90 minute drive from the Missippi schools & I usually make both. Well heading back to the Gump, I told him I didn't know how many of those games I would attend, and he hit me with "When I'm ready to go back I'll call ya".
Blaze ON my friend!!!!

Then you still fire the dumbass. Why are we so damn blinded by one or two games that we make long term decisions without looking at a coaches entire body of work? Hell, UGA fired Richt after he beat AUBURN and had a 9 win season because they saw that he would never get them a natty and believed that giving Kirby a chance was more beneficial to their program. I sure as hell hope we beat UGA, just because I hate those bastards, but it would be absolutely crazy to use that as a reason to retain Gus when their is so much evidence proving that he's a damn clown.

My biggest fear is Gus coaches with his rare "nothing to lose" mentality he brought against UGA and Bama last year and he starts making coherent decisions with regards to play-calling and personnel... just long enough to win whatever minimal amount of games necessary to convince the dolts in charge not to fire him.

Then he can have another full season to get paid to once again pull his amateurish bullshit.

I swear to God, if he were to give Asa, Willis, Gatewood, Schwartz, and Seth tons of touches and they balled out the next 2-3 games and won those games for us, I would literally punch a child.

My biggest fear is that our standards are so bad that we consider beating Ole Miss by whatever margin a signature win.

Gus is incapable of rolling out unique gameplans for each OM, Tamu, UGA and AL. After the first 20 or so plays his script will go into the garbage and he will start shitting himself. All these teams have to do is survive that first punch and let Gus engage in his own demise.

The likely good news is that his lack of awareness has led to tangible recruiting holes along the OL and at the RB position. The defensive front 7 is really good, but the secondary is meh/young. 2016 and 2017 we had runs because he got his head out of his butt and got back to what he does well (run the football, play action, deep balls, occasional tempo). He now doesn't have the personnel to accomplish these tasks, which is the absolute number one reason he deserves to be fired.

I’m just totally indifferent to any games going forward where Gus is in charge.
After the AR game, I stated on the boog board that this football season makes me weary and that’s just gotten worse.

I don’t care if the man wins out, he’s gots to go. Until TPTB prove to me they are willing to put a winner on that sideline, I just don’t care. Win and lose both equal YAY if, at the end of the day, we do what we should do. Until then, indifference.

Blaze ON my friend!!!!

Fellow who sits in front of me has been in the same seats since he was a toddler--way back in the early 70s.
I was in the same seats when I was just a Papa Bear Lite, way back in 1964--AU vs. the Houston Cougars.

I get back from the concessions at the UT game and he told he bye for the rest of the season and that he would be back when the "idiot" was no longer our HC.

I mean this is a fan who was there through all the Barfield era and he walks out? He is not the only one, either.

Win or lose Saturday, Brother, I will be back for the Aggie game. Mom is having her 80th birthday party at the tailgate I crash and you are welcome if you are there. It is right across from the old will call brick building on the corner of that street.

You have my cell and again, you are more than welcome. I may have some special Papa Bear pies baked for the occasion--:).

I can tell you the only reason I am going is for her. That is it.

The following week (I think we are there after the Aggie game) for the game in Athens will be my first time missing an AU game there since I started going in 1967. Only 58 miles away from our home but PB cannot take another Gus led game over there.

The 2016 game over there was icing on the cake for me.

Here is to better days ahead.

...or had actually given touches to NCM and others studs, but hey why should you do that when you have Sal " i look like Nick Cage and have stone hands but i'm white" and wee Willy fresh off an ACL repair that should work.

LOL, good luck with that boognation. Could it really be that AU's ineptitude will be her saving grace?

Don’t know that it would save us from the buyout, but I sure do think it’s a step towards getting rid of Leath. He’s a moron if he signed off on this contract without following the proper protocols, especially if people warned him not to get too involved in the contract negotiations because of his inexperience in that area.

I've met him several times, I think he may be competent in terms of running auburn as an academic institution, but I'm nearly positive he couldn't name 5 players on the football team.

He’s pretty well disliked by the academia on campus. I think some of that is sour grapes by many of the faculty because they wanted someone from within to be the next president (can’t remember his name at the moment), and Leath came in guns blazing with all the things he wanted to change, which just rubbed a bunch of people the wrong way. Plus, the money he’s spending to remodel the president’s mansion has folks even more worked up. Supposedly his spending habits on things that benefit him personally are pretty ridiculous.

Well, I think we needed an outsider for exactly that reason. People were so comfortable with the GOBN....it was getting sick. I heard about that though, just a lot of folks think it's a good thing that everyone didn't get what they wanted.

Anyway, I doubt he'll last super long if he's spending like that.

so I'm reading on twitter that Finebaum said that he expects hugh freeze to be Auburn's OC next season

I am pretty sure the SEC will have to sign off on this. Surprised that the fanbase will sign off on this considering the fact that the UA fanbase considered him too sullied.

If Gus stays and he hires someone. The only candidate I can see is Baby Briles and I do not know if he would come without a incredibly one sided contract.

I expect Gus to say I am promoting Kodi Burns. Don’t like it? Then pay me or get the eff out of my way.

Finebaum is probably the most connected media member to the sec office, so if he’s saying it then I expect Freeze to be okayed to coach in the league next season. If it’s at AU, I don’t know. But I imagine that there’s gonna be too high of demand for him for Greg Sanky to say no. I’d think AU and LSU will both be fighting for him

Say you are right and SEC does sanction it, that still leaves the fanbase. Absolutely no way the evangelical part of the fanbase embraces that hire.

As a head coach maybe. But as a coordinator I don’t think it’s that big of an issue

I think enough will that it would happen, but there are still some on tbb like rthomas or whatever that think the lottery is evil and that we shouldn't do what all our surrounding states are doing.

Whether it’s sincere or not, Hugh Freeze comes across as way more repentive than someone like Petrino and I think it’d be fine with Boog nation. Especially if he’s just gonna be a coordinator. Still think it’d be a bandaid on a gaping wound but I’d like to see him with Bo nix and these young Boog WRs

After Saturday's fourth quarter debacle, best case scenario at this point is hoping the Tigers stun UGA in Athens, cover the spread against Bama, hire Hugh Freeze as OC in December, win the Belk Bowl and then terminate Gus's contract following a sex scandal in March.
