OT: Gang, we have entered everyone's favorite part of being a boog - coaching fire/hire rumor mill

The other problem is that the reason the 2013 offense was so successful is that we had a really good OL and a great blocking full back. We will have neither of those things next year. The fact that Gus is even pursuing Kelly Bryant shows how incredibly stupid he is, because like you said we would need a passer to utilize a guy like Freeze.

It's like he can't see the forest for the trees. He sees a name available like Kelly Bryant, and he decides he needs him because he was good a couple years ago or whatever. But it's like he never takes into consideration how he will fit in the offense (or future offense) or how he plans to actually use him. He just sees a talented player and says I gotta have him. It seems like that's what we do with most or all of our offensive recruiting.

100 %. I also think it's how we end up with so many backs on the roster that can't do the thing that's most important to him. It's crazy.

Stidham said he’s not going through senior day. Leaving the door open I guess for him to return but I still think he’s gone

I think he's going to grad transfer. Try and play in a system that allows him to get more passing game experience. That or he will try his luck with the draft. I don't think he will return to Auburn though.

I hadn’t even considered him grad transferring. That’d so fuggin hysterical and such a big indictment on what he thinks of Gus as a coach

It seems that some are convinced Hugh Freeze is going to be the OC next year and that we're putting all of our eggs in the Kelly Bryant basket, just like we did with Stidham.

I think it's foolish to gamble on Kelly Bryant because I don't think he's a good fit for our offense now or for Freeze's offense because I don't think he's a great passer. I think we'd be better off trying to find a solid passing QB that's looking to grad transfer to couple him with Freeze and let Nix RS as a freshman. IMO Bryant's best trait is his running ability, but I think Gus is afraid to run with QBs now because he has no real backups (maybe that's different with Nix on campus) and doesn't want to risk injury to his starting QB. And if that's the case, then bringing in Bryant doesn't make much sense to me. If he comes here, you have to commit to an offense that significantly involves the QB in the run game, and I don't think we will do that.

But, I also think Gus has to win pretty big next year to preserve his job for another season, which puts him in a spot where he probably can't afford to put all his hopes on TRFR Nix and has to take an older QB.

I hate myself for even wasting the brain power discussing this... but why the fvck would he worry about needing a backup QB should Bryant get hurt when Malik and Gatewood are both far better suited to be backups in that style of offense than a passing offense?

he’d actually have 3 guys who he should be able to win with in a QB run heavy offense - which is the most he’s had in his entire godforsaken tenure

edit - just so it’s clear, my “why the fvck” is in no way directed towards you or arguing your point... it’s anger at that daft motherfvckers hypothetical meltdown - which he’s undoubtedly considering and would be shattered by

Honestly, I'm kinda rooting for that. I don't think Stidham has played well this year, but I think he's a better QB than most. I'd like for him to go somewhere else and either show that or prove me wrong. And if he goes somewhere and balls out, it makes Gus look even worse.

I don't understand Gus's QB recruiting/offensive design/personnel fit at all. We've recruited a mix of styles, won't commit to any specific system or style offensively, and then won't play young guys (even in small packages to accent their best attributes) all while sticking to things that continuously don't work. It's the most maddening thing I can think of regarding this offense. OL recruiting would be next. At this point, I don't think Gus knows what he wants the offense to be and can't stick to and recruit/develop to a particular system.

Let me help you bruh, Gus is fvcking dumb.

Yore welcome.

You’re right. It’s just hard for me to comprehend how he gets to the position he’s in while being that dumb.

I say this with 100% sincerity, most people move up from the high school ranks to the college ranks because they coach good players. Freeze - Oher. Malzahn - Mustain (and a few others). Pruitt - Chapman and Murphy (I think). It happens on a smaller scale as well with people you've never heard of it.

The man hit the lottery. if you ran a simulation of Malzahn’s life 99% he’d be a middle school PE coach at best. Might even be a good look to not cuss around 11-13 year olds although the children would still be old enough to realize he’s a gatdamn idiot.

even in this hellacious 1%, had we let him go to Arkansas last year - eventually I’d have gotten over everything and been thankful for Cam and Nick/Tre and last November and some really fun offenses... it wouldn’t have happened anytime soon and I’d have rooted for his failure til the day he retired... but I’d have remembered at least some of his time fondly

that extension and the prolonged exposure it’s generated - even if it only turns out to be 12 extra months - is enough to completely destroy any concept of “good will” forever... we literally are living the worst possible outcome of even that unlikely 1%... now instead of rooting for his failure until the day he retires, I’ll root for him to live a long and healthy life, while rooting for his failure until the day he dies

Didn't he hurt his thumb catching balls on the jug machine or something?
yeah. I'm just wondering why in the fugg he'd even be considered to burn his redshirt at this point. Unless they're just trying to make him happy because he's thinking of transferring. Just weird that they're even talking about him

whoops. that's right. For some reason, it was stuck in my head like it was the first four games or something

So Pamarcello and Co are saying folks reached out to Stoops after the UT game. These are not folks who have the power to hire/fire, just dudes with cash. This makes sense. Also saying that the AD is making life harder on ole Gus and pushing back on who he could hire/fire to try and make him to want to get out.

Perfect non-denial. I’m more confident there is something to it after that comment than before.
Seems like a denial. A non denial would be like “ just enjoying my retirement right now. Doing my crossword puzzles. What’s football I’m just a grandad now”

I don’t know just don’t want to see anyone get hurt.

I want to be hurt more than I want to accept that Gus will be here another year. You're probably right but I'm a bama sorority girl with a cute guy who swears it will never happen again.

I think some people have absolutely talked with Stoops and he’s absolutely interested. I don’t think he appreciated it leaking out though because it kind of makes him look like he’s trying to get another coaches’ gig.

Whether or not this goes down is another thing entirely. Even if the scrilla is there and Stoops has said yes, then it still has to be okay’d by Greene and Leath.

Hopefully this all goes down soon.

Would love to see Bob with the talent we have on D and 3 or 4 years with Bo Nix
