Pettway vs. Ranked teams (4 games)- He had 53 attempts for 179 yards. That's 3.38 yards/carry. That's 44 yards per game. Zero touchdowns.

Pettway vs. Unranked teams (6 games)- He has 156 attempts for 1045 yards. Average of 6.7 yards/carry. That's 174 yards per game. 7 touchdowns.

Seems like he doesn't show up for the big ones or he's hurt or do we blame Gus.

Good but not great back. His OL has been mediocre or worse.

Better than average back. When the LSU and bamas of the world can key on him because they shut down everything else he doesn't have much of a chance.

Same reason Fournette averages like 2 ypc against bammer.

Right. Amazing how much of a difference good coaching makes. If you only knew how much time my boy spends studying game tape and preparing to schematically shutdown the opponent by knowing his tendencies it would make you tired just knowing it, and he ain't even the DC anymore. Thats one reason he's never had trouble stopping a Beep Bop team without a sick dual threat guy.

Hmmm... well, well, well looks like some other folks are finally starting to come to my side of the table on this one. I've been saying it all off-season.

He is just too slow to the LOS. Against teams that we can get a good push up front then he will still feast... but against the teams in which he doesn't have the 2-3 steps to build up his momentum he will continue to struggle. Once he gets going then no one wants to see him, but he just struggles to actually get going against top tier fronts.

Somebody needs to take this exact post to TBB and watch the riot follow
It'd explode into 5-7 pages minimum... every time that I broach the subject it sucks everyone into the thread. People don't like to hear an opposing viewpoint... even asking the question has made ol TaterTot resort to trying to belittle me and my viewpoint.

Playcalling hurts Kam the most.

Since we can't pass they can focus on him. Since we aren't creative they know it is a run up the middle.
Since we don't use a change of pace guy they know we will run 10 times in a row until he is absolutely exhausted or get hurt instead of letting Kam Martin get some carries.

I was really hoping that CL would be able to mesh KP and KJ... and give each ample opportunity to catch a breather and take a little less punishment. That was a pipe dream unfortunately. 17 touches in 25 plays or some ish for KJ in game 1, and then absolutely zero running back rotation in game 2 to help out an ailing KP. Just mind-numbingly stupid.

No offense to you, but those threads go that long because of Rice

No, Kerryon is better against top competition, as myself and @brazilnuthave been saying for months.

Bottomline is neither of them are great backs, but they would be much better if they were in an offense that did not put them in such a disadvantaged situation 9 out of 10 plays by allowing the defense to know exactly whats coming. Short answer is Beep Bop sucks and that ain't gonna change.

He spun it to a Kerryon comment.

Damnit... unfortunately corch rice hopped on board with my questioning KP early on (bc he and Kerryon go way back obviously), and now every time the discussion happens I get a tag from him. Not thrilled with the association...

He's a poor man's Heath Evans.

I loved some Heath but this guy edges him out in my heart for some reason.

I think he's as solid of an RB as we have had in a few years. Poor man's Greg jones. Would've loved him in the Tubs days but I would prefer a Tre Mason/Dyer type in the beep boop o. He's slow to the hole but if you can get him to secondary, he has a good chance of breaking a tackle or two.

So yore saying that the guys just need to execute better.

Agree. What I posted was actually a copy & paste from corch Rice. Rent free I suppose
Ha

Honestly, he's athletic enough to be a top rate fullback, but he thinks he's a tailback. Running up a bunch of yards against shitty completion has only enforced that.
